One thing I'll say is that our record of signing English Players has been brilliant under Fergie.

Plus, Ferguson has a great eye when it comes to defenders. I can't remember him signing any duds.

Silvestre (average defender) and Laurent Blanc (past it)

Silvestre turned out to be a good signing. Gave us a lot of good years and had a couple of spells one at centre back and at left back when he was really good

Blanc though was well past it

He was of some use as left back were his pace and technique could do damage but he was terrible as CB. His constant lapses of concentration coupled with the fact that he handled crosses/corners with the same efficiency of Fabian Barthez was one of the reasons which forced SAF's hand to spend big on Rio.

Id rather have any of our current 4 CBs then him.

I don't know how much longer Ferdinand is going to be here. If he leaves we need to buy a full back because then Vidic-Evans and Smalling-Jones would be our centre backs which will leave short on full backs.

Apart from the last bit, did the guy even cross the ball? All I see are clips of him attacking the space, losing the ball and then retrieving the ball again. We need a good crosser, not another Rafael.

Did you even watch the clip?
He looks a good prospect, quick, agile, nimble feet, nice balance, good vision and there was a some bravery in there too. His positioning looked good and he moved off the ball well.

so this Clyne thing is a load of balls then?

To me it sounds like a highly believable rumour - but being interested in and buying is not the same thing

He is young, cheap, english, lot of pace and he is a right back, a position where we are struggling...

Not struggling. The twins, Smalling and Jones can play there. When fit, Rafael is first choice when fit.

He's mostly on the physio table mostly.

If you are talking about Clyne you are very wrong - he has played 109 league matches in 3.5 seasons since he made his debut 17 years old. Last year he didn't miss a single game - and this year he has played 15 (so he has missed a few this year)

Struggling - I know Valencia, Smalling, Jones and Rafael all can play there - but only Rafael has it as his natural position - and he is way too injury-prone

He talkin' 'bout Rafael, bro.

We're having a different right-back for nearly every game.

1) The twins are too injury-prone and i'm one of the people which are thinking they'll be injury-prone forever.

2) Smalling and Jones aren't bad right-backs BUT right-back isn't their position in the future.

3) Clyne is a really a great talent, i've said it already a few times that he's the real deal.

Injury prone is an odd overused term. If his injuries were of the reoccurring nature I'd be worried but they're all completely unrelated. His latest was a shoulder dislocation, another one was just bruising around the knee, he had a hamstring injury in his first season along with a hairline fracture on his ankle.

There's no long-term concerns there at all, only one was muscular. Certainly nothing to suggest he's going to have an injury ridden career.
