I think that De Brun guy was saying it probably won't be flashy but we'll cover the areas we need player in. It's not the most exciting transfer list really, but I'd be pretty happy with all of them by the end of the summer.
To be fair, we don't usually do EXCITING transfer windows.

Falcao and Di Maria in one window along with others was about as crazy as it gets for us.

Depay, Gundogan, Hummels and Clyne in one widow would be brilliant.

Could all go on to be top players for United.

Not going to lie, id be disappointed. Simply because I dont think he will be that much better than Valencia..

Ings
Clyne
Depay
Gundogen
Hummels

A decent summer, no?
Ings would be a bit of a pointless signing IMO - not good enough to slot straight into the first XI and hasn't really got the potential to be a real star, so waste of development playing time as well/ Go for player with real potential like Dybala or Fekir

Watching Carvajal last night only makes this seemingly inevitable deal sadder, maybe we can talk Southampton into a straight swap at least and LvG can teach him to run with the ball without knocking it ten yards ahead of himself.

David McDonnell, the journalist Moyes banned because he regularly revealed the lineup, is saying that it's a done deal. He clearly has (at least had) some very good sources within the club.

Another reason to believe that this will go through is that these statements about Clyne were reported in the program "United in Press" at MUTV. The fact that it wasn't removed indicates that the club has no fear of this going public.

I'm pretty confident it'll happen.
What I don't understand is that so many of you don't want him. He has great pace, he's good in attack and he is one of (if not the) best tacklers in the league out of the sidebacks. He's young, he's English, and he is PL proven.

Him, Coleman or Danilo (replaced with Carvajal) are my preferred choices and I'd be happy with any of them. I have never seen Darmian so I can't say anything about him.

Interesting indeed.

Out of curiosity, how many Premier League RBs would you guys say are currently better than Clyne?

MUTV run rumors all the time. The club dont confirm or deny it. MUTV even reported on the Kaka radio interview

It being on MUTV means nothing... well.. just confirms that the journo quotes are legit and not some random persons creation on twitter.

Ivanovic, Zabaleta for sure.

I'd say Clyne, Debuchy and Coleman are all around a similar level.

I don't see any indication that Carvajal would necessarily become a better player than Clyne. And if you compare him with Coleman you have to bear in mind that he's 3 years younger and is a part of the second best defence in the league, whereas Everton have conceded twice as many goals as Southampton.

Ings
Clyne
Depay
Gundogen
Hummels

Dybala
Clyne
Depay
Schneiderlin
Hummels

An even better summer.

Clyne has been the best RB in the league this season. I do not know why people are talking about him like he is average.

Well he is still fairly young and of course the bonus is that he is English and with the added amount of English players that have to be in the squad by 2016 it certainly wouldn't be a stupid move. The only thing that will probably disappointing about this deal is the fact that we surely going to have to overpay a fair amount.

Definition of you're average English player. Has great physically and pace, but a clear lack of actual ability.

Clyne is perfectly ok, but little else. He doesn't really excel at anything in particular, but doesn't have too many glaring weaknesses either, aside from his lack of aerial ability (he's only won about a third of his aerial duels this season). I don't think comparisons with Rafael are especially favourable to Clyne; the Brazilian is clearly the more talented player of the two.

All of Ivanovic, Zabaleta, Coleman and even Rafael have in the recent past had better seasons that the one Clyne has had this year. If he's been the best RB in the PL this season then it has been a relatively mediocre season for right backs.

If Rafael will stay fit next season he may have absolutely no problems with showing Clyne the place on the bench. However if the price for Englishman will oscillate around 12-15 millions then it could be a low risk signing with a chance of benefit if LVG spotted the real potential in him.

Southampton players are everywhere these days while we have a quite interesting prospect in Saidy Janko who could get one or two chances from the boss.

Can't say i'm not happy that we're straight to business but the transfer muppet from Mirror already created a turmoil with his appearance on MUTV. Perhaps he was just whoring for attention from United fans ?

Still nothing definitive in my opinion.

He is not average - by P.L standards he is among the best. But I just don't Think he has potential to be among the best in the World. Is he better than Valencia and an injury-free Rafael ? At their level maybe - not better

I do not think Rafael factors in to this since he it is obvious that Van Gaal does not see a future for him at this club. But, Clyne is significantly better than Valencia as a RB.

Clyne is having a very good season and will likely feature in the PFA team of the year, I don't know why so many people don't want him. It's not like there is a Danni Alves mk2 waiting about, not that I know of anyway. Clyne will get even better playing with better players, anything under £15million is a good deal for us.

I like the idea of singning him but who is then making way ? Rafa or Tony? Or is Tony being used as winger again?
Rafa on his way out surely? He's a hopeless defender. Tony V doing OK this season and is a useful squad member as he can play a few roles.

Ivanovic should be the PFA right back but Clyne probably not far behind him.

Would anyone who has seen Clyne play a lot be kind enough to do a quick summary of his strengths and weaknesses? I haven't seen the lad play, but I wouldn't mind a solid RB who is English if he's good enough.

Would be an excellent signing if we managed to get hold of him. Seems like Rafael is done under LvG, and i just don't trust Valencia to be a full time right back.

If we were to make three new signings this summer (that are fairly probable) Clyne wouldn´t be one of them. Nor would a centreback. That might be stupid but I have faith in Smalling Jones Rojo and McNair. My 3 choices would be Veratti,Depay and Lacazette because I think we would be very exciting and the average age in mid and front would be lowered. Bring back Nani and sign those three players and sell some we might end up with a squad like this: De Gea/Valdes-Valencia/Rafa-McNair/Rojo/Jones/Smalling-Shaw/Blind-Mata/Nani/Januzaj-Carrick/Veratti/Herrera-DiMaria/Depay/Young-Rooney/Wilson/Lacazette/Fellaini. Sign two more players and my choice (also probable) would be Clyne and Hummels/Varane. Exciting times ahead for MUFC!

Strengths are that he's fast and athletic, solid one on one when faced up and not a bad crosser. Weaknesses are that he's poor positionally and technically very average.

When I've seen him, and i'm no expert mind, he's been solid defensively, pace and can get forward, but isn't a marauding fullback like a Coleman or an Alves, most of the time watching southamption you hardly notice him, which I guess while he may be a tad unspectacular, not much threat from the opposition comes down his side either, at least from games I've seen.

He had a poor half for England the other day in a friendly, pretty poor passing wise, I think thats soured the mood more than anything.
Basically he just seems reliable.

Is he better than Paddy Mc Nair, who has been excellent for the under 21's at right back?

Cheers, doesn't sound half bad.
