Chelsea paid up and Edu is not willing to meet the valuation. It is what it is. I have been saying I don't believe Edu can close the deal so I am not disappointed at all.

I really don't see the 7 year contracts as some genius scheme to bypass FFP. It just means when they flop; or let's be real, Boehly gets bored and wants a new toy, you have a huge amount of players on crazy contracts. Basket case club.

I think uve missed the point a bit there. They were all club targets (despite being targets of other clubs). U had zero interest in this player before Arsenals public courting

Ronaldo aside, the rest were United targets for a while. Chelsea have been known to pick up other teams’ targets from the airport at the last minute for FOMO (see Willian). The club is bathed in short termism, preventing other teams from signing their targets and this has been the case since Roman took over. At least clubs like City have some kind of long term vision, even if the blueprint is “borrowed” from a European powerhouse (Barca).
Cucurella, Sterling, Chukwuemeka, Felix amongst others just highlight Chelsea’s scattergun approach and lack of a long term vision. They will hoard players in positions they don’t need for the sake of it and then put them to work in their loan farm until their careers are ruined. Some of these 7 year contracts are going to look very foolish soon.
