I think he was more involved than usual because of all the old regime leaving when Clearlake took over and the only one that was a clear Tuchel signing was Auba.

I thought that although when Tuchel was sacked was it not reported from Chelsea sources that Clearlake wanted a coach to play an active part in recruitment though and obviously Tuchel didn’t want to do that, hence the clash?

That would suggest Potter was brought in and is meant to be having some kind of influence on transfers and targets?

Enzo deal collapsed. Zero problems, we actually need second striker and a winger.

Some long-term vision that.

Tuchel was sacked because he didn't agree with the targets. They want a manager to be on board and not sabotage deals, which is what they blamed Tuchel for (not trying hard to convince a player he wasnt keen on)

Potter is a yes man

Chelsea has a lot of money to spend. Will they continue to buy new players next summer?

Most of these players Chelsea are buying none of us had heard of until the window opened. That Ben Jacobs guy is trying to drum up as much interest in their transfers as possible and not a single person gives a feck until United's name gets thrown in there.

their transfer "strategy" is absolutely nuts. There seems to be no plan whatsoever, they're just blindly throwing money into all directions and expect Potter to turn a seriously unbalanced squad into something that works.

What’s United got to do with this transfer?

No but the salaries will be off the books and the amotoring on the transfers will be gone.

I don’t think thats how FFP works but I could be wrong. Unless they sign some new sponsorship deals they don’t have highest revenues and under Roman they were running at a deficit.

Or our main target in that area is about to commit to Milan so we've looked elsewhere.

Some Chelsea fan said they were okay in the Chelsea thread, as long as the books are balanced they're okay, which suggests they will be considering their spend.

They haven't which is why no one but this Ben Jacobs guy is talking about it.
Romano's been following Mudryk's situation for a while ever since Bayer Leverkusen took a strong interest in him last summer. The only reason Ben Jacobs has talked a ton about Mudryk is because of his exclusive interview with the player several months back for CBS Sports. Otherwise, Adam Crafton, Florian Plettenberg, Patrick Berger, and David Ornstein have all covered Mudryk starting from June.

Have I missed something here? I just went on the guys feed and don’t see United mentioned
He's not, he's banging on about Chelsea none stop but no one gives a shit, until he mentions United loosely. It's the same with all the Arsenal transfers, they chuck our name in to generate views. Any day now you'll see "United considered making a bid", just wait for it.

Sign another number 10/wide forward, I don't think 5 is enough.
Pulisic, Auba and likely Ziyech will be gone in the summer and unfortuently its far from certain CHO will return on top of that.

Being a Chelsea fan is just hilarious. Never a dull day

Tuchel had to do a lot more than most Chelsea coaches because a ton of staff left when Clearlake came in and it was basically him or the tea lady.

We've brought in Christopher Vivell from Red Bull at the end of last year to be Techical Director and a few others so Potter doesn't have to get involved.

This is actually hilarious. With Enzo it would have been a shame as he really looks the part but right now they are just throwing it out for anyone out there available

Highly unlikely.
It's likely a Potter signing because the deal has been done by Paul Winstanley according to David Ornstein. And Winstanley was the head of recruitment at Brighton that was brought to Chelsea by Potter.

Sure I understand that but it was suggested Clearlake wanted a coach to have involvement in recruitment long term and this was something Tuchel could not agree on, hence the split?

If it was purely a short term fix it’s odd Tuchel didn’t stick around. And strange Clearlake didn’t want to keep him and fill the roles to support recruitment quicker.

Suggested by who? I've not heard that. If they wanted Potter to do the transfers then it's odd that they've appointed a technical director to deal with transfers.

It was quite widely reported as the reason why Tuchel clashed with them. Essentially he wants to just be a coach and not be roped in to recruitment at all.

They’ve brought in all Potters staff from Brighton haven’t they? Suggests they are setting things up for Potter to have some kind of influence in that area?

Wouldn't that make it a Winstanley signing?
Technically most signings are identified by the heads of scouting but the credit is given to the DoF.

But in this case, we can say that Potter has been influential in signing the player because the head of recruitment he brought over from Brighton to work within your club structure has gone and done the deal. And I presume with Winstanley's track record as a recruitment head, he would've had a dossier on the player.

It suggests they want the staff who did it Brighton to do again at Chelsea.

Tuchel was put in crappy position at the end and dealt with it incredibly well in my view but in bringing in 2 recruitment people plus a techincal director, it's pretty clear they don't want to make the same mistake with Potter.
