Which arguably says more about this forum than about David Moyes. Muppetry at its finest with precious little realism for balance.

I think it says more about Moyes when so many decent posters aren't keen on him.

We'll have to trust him though when he becomes our manager.

Peter Schmeichel @Pschmeichel1
Oops, I might have jumped the gun a bit saying Moyes is confirmed. I was reacting to The Times Sport tweet that I retweeted before. Sorry!!

Still a few hours 'til confirmation.

It would have been more graceful replacing SAF with Phelan rather then this long ball specialist

looks like its been confirmed - David Moyes as new United manager

Seriously, a 'decent poster' vs. Sir Alex and people that know what they're talking about. Let's get some perspective in here.

This place has gone full retard.

You do realize Di Matteo won the CL last year, and Klopp might this ?

Indeed, you don't need to have CL experience to do well. Most managers only won it once during their career so far, a few have won it twice - Ferguson, Ancelotti, Mourinho and Guardiola. Looking at recent winners Mourinho, Benitez, di Matteo and Guardiola have all won it in their debut CL seasons. Mourinho and Benitez had previous experience with European competition though.

Klopp who won the double last year and the league title before that?

Yep, but he didn't have any European experience and might win the CL, which goes against what he said. While Di Matteo did that too.

And Moyes has been very good and consistent in the league.

Edit - What Sarni said above about CL.

I reckon Fergie will act as an advisor for Moyes. He'll be on hand with any guidance or help the new man may need. Bob Paisley worked as a consultant for Dalglish in his first couple of years as player manager. It worked out very well. No reason why a similar arrangement won't work for United.

Yeah, I doubt it'll be just a 100% change.

This is a pretty underwhelming replacement.

The only thing moyes has going for him is a stable CV. Thats about it.

There are enough reasons to doubt Moyes' credentials without resorting to intangible factors, assumptions and myths such as "he will crack under the pressure", "does he have the charisma" or other such bollocks.

The fact is we're appointing a manager who's biggest achievement is getting a team to finish in upper-midtable on a small budget, nothing more needs to be said on the lack of suitability of his appointment.

For the record I'm not as Anti-Moyes as a lot of people on here. Before today I remember reading mostly negative comments about Moyes ability to be a manager here. I always felt that was over the top. I think he's good and has the right kind of steely character to succeed. However I never imagined that we'd need to appoint our new manager around about today. For me its probably too soon for Moyes because he definitely has some large gaps on his CV. Mourinho and Klopp would clearly be better choices in terms of coming in right now and having success over the next few years. Maybe Moyes will still be able to come in and have success over the longterm too. But its a lot like selling Ronaldo and signing Valencia to replace him when there are clearly much better players out there.

There seems to be a good few people within the sport that are backing Moyes. I've seen Michael Owen say Moyes is the best man for the job.

It'll be a popular appointment in the media, but it doesn't give the fans that big a lift.

He has the charisma of a used tampon. If it's Moyes, I want more energy and enthusiasm from him. Maybe I've just missed it, but every time I watch him speak he looks like he's depressed.

Whatever happens, we need to get behind him but meh.

Peter Schmeichel ‏@Pschmeichel1 18m And as we're tweeting, confirmation that David Moyes will be named the next Manchester United manager.

Big lift?

How about makes me fecking worried that we're appointing a no-name manager outside of England?

Someone who has no clue about European football. Are we going to have to wait another 10-15 years for another CL trophy?

According to Times, Scholes and Giggs will join the coaching staff of Moyes.

Ben Smith - Suggestion is that the #MUFC players were told the identity of their new manager at training this morning.
