Moyes To Succeed Ferguson Anyone?

According to Times, Scholes and Giggs will join the coaching staff of Moyes.

Found it fecking strange to write Moyes instead of Fergie btw.

There are enough reasons to doubt Moyes' credentials without resorting to intangible factors, assumptions and myths such as "he will crack under the pressure", "does he have the charisma" or other such bollocks.

The fact is we're appointing a manager who's biggest achievement is getting a team to finish in upper-midtable on a small budget, nothing more needs to be said on the lack of suitability of his appointment.

That's a pretty good achievement imo. When you look at the money in England and see how much teams like QPR spend and where they are then look at Everton I'd say Moyes has done a good job there.

Do people think he's such a poor manager that he'll come in and things will turn to shit. United fighting for 6th place with Liverpool next season then? Drama queens.

More so than the lack of CL experience I am worried by the fact that he hasn't won anything yet, he has no experience in high-pressure games and he's mostly been in charge of a team who are seen as underdogs whenever they come up against a top side.

Also, it reminds me of when Ferguson was supposed to retire in 2002 and people wanted O'Neill to replace him - look at him now. He reminds me of O'Neill and his work at Leicester and Aston Villa to be fair - building good, hard to beat sides but with no great amount of pressure involved.

Then again he didn't have the right set up to aim higher than that. Klopp managed Mainz before moving to Dortmund and he still had the right mentality. Moyes has to start competing somewhere and United is a difficult place to begin at but he has my full support.

Big lift?

How about makes me fecking worried that we're appointing a no-name manager outside of England?

Someone who has no clue about European football. Are we going to have to wait another 10-15 years for another CL trophy?

CL will be the least of our worries

Did it just get announced on SSN? I am watching a feed at working but without any sound. There was a big breaking news thingymejig.

Which arguably says more about this forum than about David Moyes. Muppetry at its finest with precious little realism for balance.

And who exactly made you the bastion of right-minded Caf thinking?

All it actually says the vast majority don't want Moyes...no more or less.

In a couple of years time when Moyes has several trophies under his belt and has at the very least taken us to the latter stages in the CL this thread will be a gold mine.

Of course it is, and he gets due credit for it. How that makes him the leading candidate to take over a vastly successful club aiming to win league and European titles I'm not sure.

No one's said he'll get us relegated, he will likely do a solid job at a minimum such as he's a good manager and we're the best team in the country currently.. I wanted a manager who could lead us to another CL trophy whilst maintaining our domestic dominance, and we appointed one who's never made the group stages.

We are preparing the Barca model for the future. One day one of Giggs, Neville, Scholes, Fletcher can take over, and the process goes on.

Seriously, a 'decent poster' vs. Sir Alex and people that know what they're talking about. Let's get some perspective in here.

This place has gone full retard.

I trust Sir Alex when it comes to making decisions regarding the things he's proven to be extremely good at (basically, managing Manchester United)... but how many times has SAF had to pick his own sodding replacement? Forgive me if I don't blindly see eye to eye with him if Moyes is his pick.

Relax. I'm not the bastion of anything. I just can't help but notice that what many people here want isn't exactly realistic. People vote for Pep Guardiola, for Christ's sake. Might as well include Justin Bieber in that list.

Yep, it's actually a shameful day on here and if Moyes is given the job I hope his haters stay the feck away because this place will be unbearable. It's just been a spazfest through and through and showed a lot of posters up for being the spoilt brat kids they are.

Hopefully in a couple of years we'll look at Moyes and be able to confirm what Sir Alex said about most people not being able to spot potential. He's obviously thought Moyes was a potentially very talented manager since his time at Preston and he's done little wrong since then.

"That's the problem with potential," Ferguson reflected in October. "People don't identify potential. They're very poor at it.

"But I've identified potential all my life in young people. I know potential. I know where it can be developed. And I know how to develop it. And I have faith in it. And young people surprise you when given opportunity."

Yes, "you never know", so for a global giant like United, why not go for an option that gives United the BEST chance of continued success domestically AND in the Champions League.

I just don't see how Moyes would be the better option.

Remember when SAF came, he'd made Aberdeen the best team in Scotland AND beaten Real Madrid to win a European trophy. Can we really draw comparison with Moyes' achievements?

For goodness' sake, Laudrup has won the League Cup in his first season and yet Moyes would go on forever and a day and not win anything at Everton.

IF we went for Moyes, it's because the club trust him and i'll go with that. How many people wanted a certain Alex Ferguson gone before we won the fa cup in 1990?

How it makes him such a ludicrous candidate as some of the reactions suggest I'm not sure.

Jose's going to Chelsea. Pep's going to Bayern. Klopp's staying at Dortmund. Heynckes turns 68 tomorrow. Which top, successful manager is available?

He's been the Everton manager for the past decade. Realistically the only trophy attainable is the League Cup. Had he won that people would still have been questioning his credentials.

Why can't his achievements be put into perspective instead of focusing on a lack of achievements?

Churchill. He'd make a cracking manager.

I will take a great deal of pleasure in running it in all their faces too. Honestly I've lost faith in a lot of what I thought were decent posters today.

SSN

My understanding is that nobody at Everton has been contacted by Manchester United or any other club for that matter with regards to David Moyes' future and the belief here is that he will be their manager next season. They've no reason not to believe that. But, the speculation is huge, there are fans around, people around asking questions all the time and David Moyes is staying very, very quiet. What you read into that.... I don't know.
