Moyes To Succeed Ferguson Anyone?

Moyes would get a lot of time here, it wouldn't be a Hodgson at Liverpool or Rafa and Inter scenario. If hes appointed its going to be for a few years minimum regardless of success.

Sigh..... So looking like Moyes. I agree he probably deserves a shot at a big club, just wish it wasn't ours :(

Anyway, ill be behind him 100% if it is the case.

Barca appoint assistant managers, coaches and ex players.
Bayern gave Klinsmann a job on the back of International management only.
Chelsea appoint managers on the basis of "flavour of the month".
Real Madrid appointed our Assistant Manager not long ago. They also had a phase after that where they were appointing nobodies.

Barcelona are using a winning formula that its quite popular at the moment. Its only natural that they promote managers from within as a foreign entity can only disrupt their system. AC Milan used to do the same when they were in their prime. The rest are only a set of disasters one bigger then the other.

The question is this, what makes you think that Moyes is going to be a success? SAF brought with him success and an ideology which changed British football. What will Moyes and his hoof the ball towards the big guy upfront bring?

Easy to say that but success is required for economic purposes, Sir Alex won't be happening again even if we do value longevity as the greatest asset of a manager.

Also, for Moyes, it's his only asset.

My mind is boggling.

That's a nice idea in theory. But if he's putting us on course for 5th place then he's out the door.

The club can't really afford to not be qualifying for the Champions League.

David fecking Moyes.

Yeah, there's gonna be a lot of ups and downs. Every time we win Moyes will be a demigod. And every time we lose, well I fear the worse...

Thats the other thing, you can guarentee that if we dont win our first game, the new manager will face all sorts of shit from the press, god forbid if we start like we did in 07/08 with no wins in the first 3. The press will have a field day. Would Moyes be able to handle that? How would he cope under that? I really dont know.

Whereas someone like Mourinho will have far more freedom with the press as they love him here, and even if they did turn on him, he's got the experience to handle it.

Moyes always looks quite stressed to me. I don't think he can handle the pressure at Utd, he has close to no relevant experience. Sure they've generally been a well-run club during his time there, but they are also hugely inconsistent in terms of results.

Worth noting that Everton, under him, usually get off to a terrible, terrible start to the season.

2 years and he will be judged. If he's not done enough I feel he will be sacked at that point.

All this "cut from the same cloth" business - basically means that he's Scottish, right?

At least SSN are acknowledging that Everton not knowing anything about it isn't that relevant given his contract situation.

Pretty much. I mean he's had nowhere near the success SAF had before joining United.

Like most of you, Moyes isn't my first choice, but he'll have my full backing and support if (when) he's appointed. The truth is we'll never know if he has what it takes to manage a top team until he gets the chance. He's done pretty much everything he possibly could have with Everton and that's certainly a positive. I expect there'll be a significant adjustment period, but if we give him some time, who knows what the future holds!

Hopefully he'll bring Fellaini with him. I know a lot of you don't rate him much but I think he's a good player and could do a good job in CM. He's an improvement over some of what we have there.

I reckon Fergie will act as an advisor for Moyes. He'll be on hand with any guidance or help the new man may need. Bob Paisley worked as a consultant for Dalglish in his first couple of years as player manager. It worked out very well. No reason why a similar arrangement won't work for United.

I hear what you are saying. Though I would like to point out that times have changed dramatically and if you could get away with being uncharismatic before, I don't think you can do so nowadays. Not at United's playing field anyway. Would Phil Jones, RvP, Rooney, Ronaldo etc. have been acquired if SAF didn't have such a pulling power?

If he is coming I hope be brings in Seamus Coleman.

I know I'm going to get slated for him not being "Man Utd Quality"

Peter Schmeichel @Pschmeichel1
And as we're tweeting, confirmation that David Moyes will be named the next Manchester United manager.

To think, some people are still hanging onto Mourinho.

You're not alone. A vast majority of the global fan base don't want him either.

It feels like a Ferguson appointment though doesn' it?
If it is we can't really fault it - Ferguson donesn't get much wrong.
Its just all very upsetting. I really didn't need this today.

All this Moyes' talk is making me fidgety and angry... he has not proven anything to show he should be the next manager at Utd.

Scottish, 'longevity', with no titles and European experience during his ten seasons at Everton.

Hasn't won anything, which makes him hungry for success. I'm coming around to it I must say, though I would like to see who his backroom staff are.

Sure it's been said on here before, but Gill said that the new manager must have European experience as well as loyalty.

Can you really say Moyes has that experience? I think it'll be someone we don't expect.

For all those dead against Moyes, myself included, we probably need time to get our head round to it. It's a lot to take in really.

The thing that worries me is Moyes football is pretty old school.

Generally 4-4-2 long balls from the wings, I really hoped we took a more continental approach with our new manager.

He's going to be chasing every trophy, whining about his 'precious' and coughing 'Gollum', while Mourinho forearm smashes him into the crack of doom :(

Im very under-whelmed and would have preferred Mourinho and the inevitable Ronaldo to follow stories through the summer...

However if Sir Alex thinks Moyes is the man then im getting fully behind him. And Sir Alex will still be at the club for any mentoring needed.

Be interesting to see who we bring in this summer. It sounded like Sir Alex had a couple of deals lined up and wasn't afraid to spend big.
