Moyes To Succeed Ferguson Anyone?

Most advantage of Moyes is, Fergie can work well with him. In other word, Moyes won't mind being Fergie's 'puppet' to some extend. I don't see other big managers that can offer that kind of leverage.

Exactly, this!!

Do you people really think Mourinho, Klopp, etc would really be comfortable working under a Director or SAF?

Moyes has also spent 800k per season. That's a ridiculously low amount. As I said he'll not be my first choice but I think he'll do good here.

This is something that worries me, he has no experience of dealing with big transfers and with Gill no longer at the club I am hoping we don't waste a load of money during the transfer window.

Another small bit of information is that Martin Ferguson, our head scout is also retiring.

And that is just an assumption that you are making right now.

It's hard to state facts about the future though, isnt it? For all we know, even Moyes could feck off after 6 months because he's going on a hunting trip with a few of his buddies.

All the main journos are seemingly backing it. Plus from all the noise currently coming from the club, it looks like it's Moyes e.g. "cut from the same cloth as Busby and Ferguson"

Of course they will. Everyone is watching the same channel. They do/did the same thing all these times we've signed all these players we are dead certain of getting.

Betting will be suspended at some point today to reinforce the point once betting dies down and then we'll move on to someone else.

I'm kind of resigned to us getting Moyes now. He wouldn't be my first choice. I wrote yesterday that I actually rate him highly and think he can do well in a big club. I was hoping to see him get a big job in recent years and that hasn't happened. I wouldn't like for us to be that testing field for Moyes in a big club. But he's a good manager and there's a decent enough chance he will make the adjustment and do very well.

Looks certain to be Moyes. I'll fully support him, but I can't help but feel underwhelmed.

His main priority will be to finish in the top 4 without spending loads of money. Moyes definitely the nouse to do so at the club.

Nope, it'll be trophies. Glazers won't settle for being second or third best team in England long term because it massively reduces the value of the club. The whole concept of them being happy as long as we don't spend much is based on nothing.

Moyes' father or Brother is head of scouting at Everton too, IIRC ?

I can't believe its Moyes. All these years we've waited for this and its Moyes.

And that is just an assumption that you are making right now.

He's actually said it in the past, that he wants to win all major leagues but ultimately he'd like to settle in England because he loves it there and then go and manage Portugal when he's older. Or I'm making this up, I swear I've seen this quotes from him though.

Same here, which is why I'm getting all my negativity around it out now.

If/when it's officially announced, he'll get nothing but support from me.

It's not easy to replace the greatest manager in the history, most managers will crumble under the weight of expectations.

That's why i think moyes isn't the man for this, not now at least, we need someone with a big ego and a proven CV that can guide us through this transitional period even if it's just for a couple of years, that's why i think mourinho is the better choice.

Imagine moyes not winning anything in his first season, the pressure would be relentless from the fans, even players will start to doubt him, we've seen that happen with other clubs.

IMO Moyes is just not the man of the moment, a club like spurs would fit him perfectly.

Obviously, I'm going to support him as long as he's here and hope he turns out good but I can't help feeling concerned about this. Moyes doesn't look to have the same sort of charisma as Sir Alex, not even close.

Us finishing 1st or 3rd doesn't massively reduce the club. We can still claim we are competing for major honours and the endorsement deals will happen as long as we are in the Champions League. Being in the competition is what really matters in terms of the coffers.

Only an idiot would not support any manager being handed the job, but it's hard not to feel underwhelmed if Moyes takes charge. After receiving news about Fergies resignation, one would hope that the club would hire someone who would bring some excitement rather then..Moyes. As long as it's the best for the club, I'm all for it, but until the signing is official I will hope for Jose to show up at OT.

David Gill: "The new manager will have to have experience in both England and European competitions."

Does Everton's car crash CL campaign count as experience?

He's never won anything, never competed in the Champions League properly and has never managed a top club like United.

So to think he is ready to take over at United is based on if you know him or assumption.

Showing signs of weakness will in turn be a sign of risk for the shareholders though, which can cause the stock to fall and it'll be a significant loss for the owners.

Nah, it does reduce the value if it happens over say a Arsenal like period. 1/2 years doesn't matter much though.

Of course it does. Globally no one considers Liverpool and Arsenal that big right now, kids on the streets don't usually wear their shirts and their fan base hasn't been growing these last few years. Sponsors also won't pay that much to a club that isn't seen as a winning one.

At least he has experience working with youngsters and giving them an opportunity when he deem them ready for first team football. Question remains if the enormous amount of pressure drives him away from this philosophy.

OH NOES!!!! A SEASON OR TWO WITHOUT A TROPHY!!!! The one and only good thing about SAF going is it might finally make some of the more spoiled elements of our support a tad more realistic.

I thought his CL campaign was when they were harshly knocked out by Villarreal? Duncan Ferguson scored a good goal that was disallowed and then they made a bollocks of the Europa League. Not sure.
