Moyes To Succeed Ferguson Anyone?

Those of you who are against Moyes, what would you do if we hired him? I am just hoping his doubters treat him with a bit of respect.

Back him, he has a tough job in any case. Doesn't need fans booing him at Old Trafford.

I think if it is Moyes we'll assign him an assistant, can't see us letting him bring in his from Everton.

Told you...

The more and more I think about it the worse I think this decision could be.

Anyone but Moyes (in part because my phone autocorrect wants to call him notes), if we do get him ill back him and give him a chance but I really hope its not.

It wasnt Jose's first job.

Dortmund are one of the biggest clubs in Germany. And in Germany the transformation from mid table to Champions isn't anywhere near as difficult as it'd be here in England (See Wolfsburg, Stuttgart, Dortmund) examples of clubs who went from mid table to Champions in no time.

Right, but how long was Mourinho at his first job before moving there? Not very long, Porto are also not a big stepping stone compared to us. Moyes has been at Everton for ten years now or something, how much has Mourinho accomplished in that time frame?

Klopp went to a Dortmund team with little expectations and was given time to rebuild, there was no pressure from the fans at all, that simply would not be the case here, if Moyes came here he would be under great pressure. He's inheriting a better squad of players at a bigger club than Klopp did.

Honestly, there's no comparison between his situation and the Klopp/Mourinho ones.

Such an uninspiring choice. No experience of winning trophies, no experience of dealing with big players, no CL experience. It's a massive gamble if he is chosen and if he doesn't start well he will be under immense pressure.

Moyes is going to get a much shorter rope with the fans than Mourinho.

As much as I like Moyes and all that he has done for my club. This move has got disaster written all over it. Utd could almost have a choice of any top coach in the world and yet they chose David Moyes?! He won't last 2 seasons.

Agree with all this. Why choose someone unproven? This isn't a single position on the pitch that we can test the water with. At the risk of sounding kneejerk, a wrong move here could go spiralling out of control. Specially if we lose a big player or two over summer and sign some equally uninspiring choices to replace them. And that's on top of potentially losing some experienced heads. United need to be really careful here.

You would have to imagine Ferguson would have guided the Glazers in making this decision. Not exactly the best partying gift he could have given the club.

There are worse managers than Moyes so I wouldn't go for as ABM. But there are quite a number of choices I would have above him.

I've nothing against Moyes, I just don't see how you can choose him if Mourinho and Klopp are available (there's nothing to say Klopp is, though).

If we hire Moyes I won't believe all the bullshit lines that will come out, he's premier league proven, loyal, like sir Alex ect. It will be nothing more than the Glazers finding a manager who is out of contact & won't command a huge wage. Cheap option.

:wenger:

a) Sir Alex is far more qualified to identify the right man for this job than anyone, Everton fans included

b) It hasn't happened. It's just rumours.

Moyes has done a great job at Everton, that can't really be questioned... but, in the last 10 years, I would have still expected him to have at least won something or made it into the Champions League proper.

Simple put, he's a competitor, but not necessarily a winer.

That's what I dont get, anybody can see he's nowhere near the calibre we should be looking at. Honestly a mind boggling decision if the rumours are true.

I'm not sure this is clear but I was talking about Arsene. Moyes wouldn't be the end of the world as he is ambitious but a huge gamble where as Klopp would make a statement as well as being the right choice.

If Fergie didn't feel Moyes was up for the job he wouldn't have recommended him to the Glazers, there must be something about him that only Fergie can see.

Cheap option used to managing on the cheap, which is obviously what they want.

Is it so coincidental that Fergie resigned days after claiming he was looking at 2 players only to be contradicted by Ed Woodward?

Exactly, cheap and easy appointment, won't command huge wages. It's extremely disappointing.

Mourinho has been manager at three of the biggest clubs in the world and in two of those jobs he had an unlimited transfer budget, you cannot compare that with Moyes.
I understand the pressure bit but I just think a potential Moyes move isn't the disaster people are making it out to be.
Guardiola was given the Barca job on the back of work with the B team. Was that not pressure for someone with no experience? Look what he ended up doing.
Sometimes the obvious choice isn't always the best choice, that being said I do prefer Jose to Moyes in this case but I genuinely would still be happy with Moyes.

That is the only thing Moyes has going for him. Not his PL experience which considering he's fail to take Everton on isn't up their with the best.

Moyes is back to being clear odds on favourite now.

Edit. Having said that Beckham is more likely to take the job than the current assistant.

I could half see a Paul Scholes style comeback in January as I have no faith in this appointment if the stories a true and it's looking pretty nailed on, he's not a bad manager who knows maybe he could do a good job but I've not seen anything good enough for a club of our size to put our faith in him to justify such a decision.

Glazernomics, no compensation to be paid. feck off.

Had this on my mind too. Basically a free transfer if you like. I don't hate Moyes personally but but surely we're too big for him at this moment in time, I worry about the big games with him in charge.

I rate Moyes, and he has done well at Everton, but my two main gripes would be his lack of experience in Europe - we won the league, Europe should be our aim now, and also his ability to attract big name players
