Moyes To Succeed Ferguson Anyone?

No offence to Spurs or Chelsea they are both big clubs but if they aren't even looking at Moyes it kinda says it all really, good manager but not in the top class league needed to manage a top European side. Id be disappointed if David Moyes was appointed United manager after SAF retires.

Don't think he'll be on the shortlist. Unproven at the highest level. AVB has more chance than him.

Yup agree with this. Always felt Moyes should have moved to Europe at one point, he was never going to prove his worth at Everton.

Moyes doesn't feel right. It would be too much of a comedown. Going from SAF to Moyes would be like someone coming into your beautiful home in the middle of the night, dragging you out of bed, throwing you into a featureless cell with a bowl of gruel and slamming the door shut. Old Boy style.

I had high hopes for Moyes some years ago when Fergie tried to recruit him from Preston. He's done a fine job at Goodison all things considered, but I don't think he's the man who'll take over from Fergie. I still think Jose will get the job.

The chances of a manager with no real experience in the CL getting the job are virtually none in my opinion.

I think it would be more like if you woke up in your beautiful house but they'd dragged it to Dudley. Not Doncaster or anything, just a really unspectacular town.

Well if Mourinho had his United interview and impressed on Tuesday, then Moyes certainly failed his today.

I can't believe he would even register on any potential shortlist to take over from Sir Alex at this club. The only link seems to be that he's a fiery Scot. It's not just that he's never won a trophy, as I've seen worse managers than him get some silverware on their CV, nor do I have particular doubts about his man management and control of his players, which appears pretty good. It's his lack of European experience that will prevent him from ever getting a top job. I know I certainly wouldn't want our next boss to be someone who is a complete CL rookie, and Gill has actually said in the past that the next man needs to have extensive CL experience.

Without getting into a debate over whether or not I would like him to take over a 1 off shock defeat to Wigan has absolutely no bearing on anything.

Anomalies like this happen sometimes, especially to clubs of that ilk, but we're not exactly adverse to them ourselves ar we?

Posturing twat - you've never been to Dudley or even Wolverhampton.

Time you were fecked off, more like. Your act is way past its sell-by date.

Mourinho, Guardiola, AVB, Klopp, Laudrup (my dark horse) and Solskjaer.

They will all be above Moyes IMO. Plus the key thing with all of them is that they have all won things.

The biggest thing about United is that they win a LOT of trophies. One season without a major trophy is considered a major feck up. Why would we hire a manager who hasn't won a thing?!

Good if pete does feck off for a bit to wank off Walcott, the increasingly bitter twat.

ffs my heart stops everytime this thread is bumped up.

could you imagine gollum pitting wits in the CL against JM, utd v. big hitters like madrid....

we'd be the laughing stock of europe.

He surely needs to try something new. Our squad is fully capable of winning a trophy as we have came close recently to success, but i don't think Moyes can take us to it, despite all he has done for us in keeping us regularly at the top half of the table.
It's a tricky predicament as i'd love for us to progress (which will have to be under a new manager), but we will have to get it 110% spot on in our choice to do so which is unlikely to happen.

I'll definitely follow Moyes' career close when he leaves though. I hope he goes to Germany like he hopes to because it will be interesting to see if he's able to do it in a different league and by doing so he'll definitely be on top clubs wanted list.

Moyes is having a great season again. Watching the Arsenal game I was amazed that he is challenging for a CL spot with the squad that he has. I think that Liverpool have a comfortably better squad than Everton, certainly in depth.

Big Sam has had wins away those teams, it doesnt mean he is a better manager.

Obviously it is a very poor record, one reason would be that all the big clubs consider Everton a tough game, play their best side and prepare better for them.

That's a very surprising stat. You can't even call Liverpool "big four".

He's clearly a very good manager but there are a lot of gaps in his CV if we're talking about taking over a club at the very top.

They have a pretty good record at the Etihad. Just won in 2010/11 too.

Bit of a misleading stat that due to this and they have many draws in those places. More than most other managers in the league.

Well he's done pretty well pitting his wits against some of the big teams over the years. Completely outdid SAF in our first game of the season with his use of Fellaini in an advanced position and we had no answer for it.

I wouldn't want him coming to United at the moment because he's unproven at a big club, but to completely disregard what he's achieved with at Everton with the resources he's got is pretty disrespectful to the guy.

Decent manager but Everton is his level I wouldn't want him anywhere near the United job.

I am not sure how anyone can conclude that Everton is his'level'. I am not advocating for him to be Manchester United manager but I would like to see him challenged at the next level. He says that he is interested in managing in Germany. I think that would be an interesting move for him.

Based on what Everton is his level ? He has a fantastic transfer record with the limited budget he has got and has achieved almost everything anyone could at Everton given the resources season after season consistently unlike flavor of month managers who do well for a couple of seasons. (Maybe could have won a carling cup but that's about the only criticism.)

He certainly deserves a chance above that level now. Hopefully he can get a good job in Germany as was being speculated.

The way football is now it would be pretty much impossible for him to get Everton any higher.

I wonder would Fergie have acheived the same feats with Aberdeen if it was now instead of the 80's?
