Ancelotti looked young-ish? What? That'll certainly raise a few eye brows. The man's looked 60 for 25 years!
Indeed, still hard to believe he's only three years older than Mourinho.

Didn't Pep have a terrible away record at Barca in the CL?

I don't know the exact record but I remember plenty of dull games where Barcelona weren't trying to score, while at the Nou Camp they would smash everyone. I have seen Barcelona refuse to counter attack.

Mourinho's started to look really old and jaded as well. I'm hoping we see him look a bit more spritely and get some of his old swagger back. If managing United wont do it, nothing will!

Is the anoouncement Wednesday then?

Honestly nobody really knows, James Cooper on sky says he has been told by sources at the club that an announcement is highly unlikely today but as we saw yesterday announcements can be made later at night thanks to social media.

I hope this was deliberate.

I think part of the problem is maybe watching one or two games and giving an opinion on a full season.
People talk like they watched a full season of Barca when they have probably watched 2 or 3 games against lower league sides at home.

Won't it be the same thing like the VG sacking announcement. I.e. it cannot be done until the stock market closes or whatever.

 What? I imagine only fans of English can be so hateful towards possession football.

I would much rather have direct, fast, attacking football than possession based football. I don't mind seeing my team utilize possession football as a pragmatic mean to an end, as in seeing out a match while leading or man down, for example. I would hate to see my team playing possession football just for the sake of it from the start against any opponent, a-la LVG.

Oh I prefer counter attacking football, as well.

Just had a quick look. 33% win rate away.

No idea how that stacks up against others though.

No it's not. Playing with your back 4 pushed up to the half way line and pro-actively going about to win the game is definitely less "cowardly" than camping in your half all game looking for a 0-0.

While I do think possession football has pragmatic elements, calling it the ultimate cowardly tactic is laughable.
It's mostly fecking boring though

I just hope we announce it by today or tomorrow and he can start ASAP.. I really hope he doesn't wait till July 1st.

I am sure he feels like he has taken enough break. I just want him to start early and not do the same as our last two managers, starting late and miss out on any of our transfer targets..

The way we play it, it sure is.

I generally have always preferred counter attacking football, but my opinion on that is softening a bit.
Barcelona and the Spanish NT were often horrendously dull too.

Obviously Barca at their true peak played some incredible football too. But generally speaking, tiki taka or whatever it was called was snooze inducing shit.

I'm pretty certain he's been analyzing the team and working on it since january/february.

All very subjective. Some see that as the best kind of football. I prefer watching Arsenal to Chelsea. I preferred watching Dortmund under Klopp to anyone barring United, at the time.

Imagine bringing in Mourinho to improve our attacking football. That's how bad lVG has been

No announcement today then.

Give me an error strewn end to end match rather than a dull but technically flawless Barca game.

Hope we announce this soon and get him on board immediately.

How many times have our summers been a state of disarray because our managers were announced "late" or somehow had other obligations.

Get him in now and start the recruitment process.

As a modern football fan, I can't wait 'til Friday so I'm off to support Atletico Real.

Twice in 30 years.

Can't wait for Mourinho to come in and change the culture back to that of winning. That alone will have a large effect on the club and should see itself played out in the results.

He is by far my favorite manager and really excited he's coming to my favorite club.

Expectations will again be where they always should have been; compete for the league title and champions league. None of this praying for the 4th shite and calling that a good season. United is one of the best resourced clubs in the world and has no excuse for not competing at the highest levels every year.

If I'm not mistaken since 2003, Mourinho has a 40% win rate, 23 wins out of 57 games.
