Mourinho to United | Officially Announced

I was going to wait until it was confirmed officially, but the way the BBC are going about it he might as well be in charge already.

Delighted LvG has gone and I am happy with Jose, but I don't want Mendez getting loads of his players signed because Jose is in charge. The man is a complete snake. Woody needs to control that situation.

Also who is the player that actively ignored him and improved immediately? Can't think of a single player who turned it around it a visible manner?

It's Martial, he saw my post and decided to play like he did at Monaco.

One example goes back to the opening day of the season when Tottenham Hotspur were the opposition and Antonio Valencia sent in a low cross from the right to pick out Rooney, unmarked, in the middle of the penalty area. It seemed like a relatively straightforward finish but Rooney took an extra touch because that was what Van Gaal had drummed into his players. Kyle Walker made a saving tackle only to turn the ball into his own net and Rooney looked almost sheepish as he headed back to the centre circle.

 Taylor is taking the piss here, surely? Rooney making a mess of that opportunity has nothing to do with Van Gaal.

I was half-joking when I said that Rooney rubber-stamped that article. The more I read the more it looks like he genuinely has.

The Schweinsteiger stuff is interesting, if true. He certainly says all the right things and tweets all the right birthday greetings but when it comes down to it, it just hasn't worked. I wouldn't mind if we chose to get rid of him this summer. The version of Schweinsteiger we're stuck with can easily be replaced by someone cheaper and more often available. The argument that his experience is invaluable seems somewhat undermined by the stuff in this story (again, if true)

If he comes out with a book criticizing a club which allowed him to stay and win the FA cup despite him being a disaster all season he would look like a knob. Getting sacked after this run would be far more embarrassing than anything he deals with now

Arsenal (A) - L 0-3
Everton (A) - W 3-0
CSKA (A) - D 1-1
City (H) - D 0-0
Boro (H) - L 0-0 (1-3 after penos) - Knocked out Carling Cup
Palace (A) - D 0-0

CSKA (H) - W 1-0
West Brom (H) - W 2-0
Watford (A) - W 2-1
PSV (H) - D 0-0
Leicester (A) - D 1-1

At this point we were a point off first in third. CL qualification completely in our hand and a win would take us through. It's essentially December that changed our fortunes.

West Ham (H) - D 0-0
Wolfsburg (A) - L 2-3 - Knocked out Champions League
Bournemouth (A) - L 1-2
Norwich (H) - L 1-2
Stoke (A) - L 0-2
Chelsea (H) - D 0-0

17 games - 4 wins, 6 losses, 7 draws. GD - 14:15 (-1)

Which players? The Guardian is confidently asserting that Carrick is pro-Mourinho. So what senior players are we talking about here? I'm not saying the Mail hasn't been told this is true. I am wondering if they interrogated their source enough.

It seems fairly clear some people in the club hate Jose & wanted Giggs as coach. Is it beyond the realms of possibility to think those same people are hyping up talk of opposition?

I would like to see Schweinsteiger given one season under Mourinho. But there are a few reports verifying these stories that he has been taking the piss and not been fully committed.

Mata is obvious one who wouldn't want Jose.

Don't think Jose would be too happy with some of the performances from Rooney this season.

No, this article is clearly entirely based in fact. The small matter of Taylor's 'club source', that he wheels out in attempt to give his latest United flavoured tripe some credence, forgetting to mention all of this when it actually happened for the last 2 years is to be completely ignored because... reasons.

All this stuff is coming out now to safeguard the club and senior staff in case LVG speaks out; also, conveniently, it sends a message to a new United manager: "indulge us or expect failure and press murmurs about bizarre tactics and personal weirdness."

And it was Young who crossed. You would think at least they would have noticed it if they had actually seen that goal

Shame about Frans Hoek. I know he's one of Louis' coaches, but having DDG get a new coach again is a bit irksome. Hoek is a fantastic coach.

He is no doubt but DeGea seemed to get better every season despite being under 3 different gk coaches in the last 4 years. Who's to say another one with new ideas can't make him even better.

Next, Giggs will drug LVG and record him then a psychiatrist will write a piece explaining that LVG was in fact victim of dementia, that's how you discredit someone.

It's obvious who the senior players are who would have misgivings about Mourinho... most of them.

Blind will not be a regular under Mourinho. Fellaini will not be a regular under Mourinho. Schweinsteiger will possibly be forced out due to his lack of fitness. Mata has already been axed once. Rooney may even be a little anxious at the prospect, although given how he managed to ingratiate himself with Moyes and with LVG, and was highly coveted by Mourinho only 2 seasons ago, I don't see him having much trouble. Then you have all the new signings who have under performed for one reason or another: Herrera, Schneiderlin, Rojo and Darmian... maybe the devil they know is better than the devil they don't? Valencia and Smalling knew they'd be regulars under LVG next season, they don't know if Mourinho will hold them in the same esteem, Valencia in particular should be worried.

On the other hand you'll have Carrick, De Gea and Ashley Young who will doubtless be pleased, as will Jones since he was destined for the door under LVG and Mourinho might just offer a small glimmer of hope.

Stubbornness has cost LvG his job, he should've listened to those around him asking to play more attacking football.

Emailing players on their days off telling them how shite they played, was always going to rub them up the wrong way. I wonder if that's the reason why we've seen the likes of Herrera, Mata and Schneiderlin dropped in spells, cause they didn't open the email long enough.

The part about Schweinsteiger isn't good to read, he'll most likely be sold in summer, can't see Jose letting him fly off when he's injured etc.

Believe mou will sort out ourc defence first and foremost.

Hang on. Hasn't LVG been doing this for the last 18 months?
We now concede very few goals, as a result.

Our main problem has been scoring goals - we struggle in this area. That's what needs to be sorted out.

Our defence hasn't been great when we actually had to defend. So no that hasn't been sorted out.

We keep the ball pointlessly which helps our defence out. Also having DDG helps too.

Valencia is a very Mourinho type player.

It's all a bit up in the air what'll happen really.

Interesting piece in the Guardian by Daniel Taylor:

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...an-gaal-manchester-united-players-near-mutiny

This kind of worries me a bit because by the sounds of it we have a squad full of players who don't like being criticised or held accountable and who can't errr boil eggs. Also note that the Hoek/De Gea relationship isn't as great as it sounds. I'm a bit worried that most managers will struggle with a set of players like that.

There is a very similar story in the Telegraph where they have clearly just changed the words from a release, this is definitely being briefed, I think the inside information is correct.

Same story in the Independent too.

How do all 3 of them have the exact same story at the same time?

Someone is leaking it, either a disgruntled player, member of backroom staff, mourinho camp or woodward camp, could be anyone if I had to guess I would say Woodward. Making sure we know how bad things are after all the negative press he got yesterday for the classless way we handled it. This sort of thing is exactly his style too, during the transfer period he seems to be all over briefing the press, I remember a picture of him sat down with about 6 journalists at the end of the summer and then all the Pedro stories coming out as a smokescreen for Martial or whatever his plan was. Could be worth making note of which journalists he has leaked it to as they could be worth keeping an eye on for future stories.

Which is weird because he and the club haven't actually done anything yet.

Can't fault post op Valencia he's as good a right back as we will need in my book. I don't recall seeing him have a bad performance lately.

I know but as we will never know for sure who leaked the sacking at such a bad time blame will be thrown at everyone involved including the club.

That story is crazy, makes such a poor reading for the LVG and the players. The dressing room mindset is a bit worrying for me, I know LVG was poor but some of the behaviour seems childish.

And even though reading stories like that is interesting to me as a fan, it really shouldn't come out. A lot of work to be done for Mourinho, it wouldn't surprise me if he gets rid of a lot of players to gain control of the dressing room.

I cannot wait for this to be announced.

I've just watched 2 Jose documentaries on YouTube and now I'm GASSED!

It's a massive shame that his failure at Chelsea is all many people remember him for.

This guy will make United great again.

Which docs?

Post them here..
