KEY POINTS
  • Andre gomes, joao mario,Garay, stones, Morata, icardi all targeted.
  • 150Million minimum spending
  • Appointment has made Carrick. David de gea, herrera and MATA happy, although mata may leave as he was sold earlier by Jose.
  • Carrick might stay after all, so might DDG as he was goin to leave if LVG was to stay
  • Icardi is fall back for Morata who is number 1 target
  • Garay fall back for Stones
  • Pogba and juve left back alex sandro enquired for and rejected by quoting 150 million euros for each
I think it is guess work right now. All players are Jorge mendes clients and its a good guess that 1/2 may sign from them.

It's all bollocks most likely. The same names we've heard from Jackson before.

Jamie Jackson is the journalist who didn't even know we were signing Di Maria when he was at the airport but now knows all this, yeah right

I call shenanigans on both stories. Especially Jamie Jackson.

A lot of people cared about what Keane and Cantona did and they both served long suspensions because of those actions.

I know that, but some united fans saying Mourinho will bring no class on and off the pitch with his teams, fans of course cared losing the players to suspension. If Mourinho brings an efficiency like chelsea 05, if he can even attempt to bring the level of play he brought to chelsea between 2004-06, none of us could possibly complain. Yes there could be 1-0 wins, but going into old trafford games that fear factor knowing teams are facing us already defeated before they get onto the pitch.

For me (although I hate that phrase, when halfwits like Hoddle et al repeatedly use it...we know it's for you, you're the one speaking grr)...erm anyway... for me, it's the appointment we should have made 3 years ago.

The players would have respected him, he'd have been arrogant enough to think he could have improved things, and it could and probably would have been really nice. Certainly wouldn't have slipped to 7th.
Some will say he was signed up elsewhere, some will try and use the 6months of last season as a reason it wouldn't have worked etc..

At least we have tried to rectify it now.

As a minimum I expect him to stop us being so clueless against the lesser teams, and not spend so long keeping the ball for so little reason.

Some of Mourinho's entire career has been ripping apart Arsene Wenger's time at arsenal, of how wenger can justify himself has a top manager but with no major trophy's since the early 2000's. Mourinho himself could not even think going 2 years without winning a major trophy is a possibility, he would call it unthinkable letting his team going 2 years without a trophy, let alone a decade, and that is what this team needs

I honestly think we should black list Jamie Jackson.

His track record is as bad as anyones; he only gets a pass because he works for the Guardian and not the Star.

Didn't Fergie lambast his players for the way they behaved there?

Stones shouldn't be anywhere near right back I don't think and James would be a waste on the right. Nor do I like the idea of Rooney in midfield in the long term.
I was just shoehorning in all those proposed incoming transfers. Its gonna be a long but fun summer transfer window!

I think so too. Its all about getting clicks right now.The iron is hot, lets bring out the clickbait is what they are thinking. They have linked us with every mendes client available.
I do think we should trust the foreign media a lot lot more than english. I think Radio rmc saying united will sign ibra/ have offered contract to ibra will be revealed after Mourinho signs as they are very rarely wrong. So not mentioning Ibra as first target is a little baffling by eng press.

Agreed.

I think he did, but? they had that winning mentality and Aura of invincibility in-bedded in the team, that winning at all costs was the most important part, cantona was the prime example the ferguson magic put that winning mentality that he did not care, winning at all costs was the teams priority. Barcelona under pep was the same, how many times did they circle the refs like vultures, puyol the prime example lead the attack, when wenger was actually a good manager his teams did the same. So I think when a manager has that siege mentality built in the players, we do see that side which I hope we see united have that, where the fire burns brighter than ever, we need that Mourinho intensity

Oh I completely agree. Part of our problem in the last few years is the fact we have turned into complete pussies. Mourinho will ignite that spark.

I like a bit of transfer muppetry like the next knobhead but if Maureen does take over its going to get bloody stupid in the rags this summer.

If some people like it or not, sometimes winners are so obsessed with winning the big games, we see that horrible side that rivals hate, we need that again the hate and quiet frankly that has been missing. I want united acting like they did under fergie, using the psychology before games that the press like to cook up, that fergie used to plant the seed to get to our rivals. The day rivals can't stand us, is the day we know we are serious players

Defiantly will, what do I google to find it?
ITV Presents: Mourinho. I embedded the full video on page 33. It's class and the suggestion of Mourinho taking over at Old Trafford at the end now looks ominous in hindsight.

Edit: been reposted on this page.

Editor: 'So have you got a Mourinho story for ready for print'
Journalist: 'Mourinho? No, there's been no developments, think the contract signing is on tuesday'
E: 'But everyone wants to read about Mourinho'
J: 'I know but there is nothing to write, we don't have any information'
E: 'What about his transfer targets?'
J: 'What transfer targets?'
E: 'You know players he's going for'
J: 'We don't know any, not a lot I can do'
E: 'I guess you could just make them up out of thin air mainly based on players who have played for him in the past, are from his country, known previous targets from the last 10 years at any club or just players he been in the same stadium on one or more occasions'
J: 'Thanks boss, I'll have it ready in five'

A conversation that has just taken place in every newsroom in the country.

We are basically going to be linked with every Mendes client. I might be in a minority but I think our squad doesn't need too much change. Three or four good additions and that's it.

No Rash :(?

I think Id prefer to give him the chance than Ibra tbh.

Why?

He'd play games. But we need more goals in our team. Even with Rashford from February onwards we hardly been on goalscoring sprees. People are getting too carried away with Rashford. The same people will then criticise him when he doesn't score next year. Let's not out the pressure of scoring goals on just a 19 year old. Not even Ronaldo when he was here had that pressure.

None of those quoted targets are particularly mouthwatering tbh but with no UCL I guess beggars can't be choosers

A lot of them are names just recycled from previous stories but I guess Mourinho would of been identifying them since January so entirely possible they are legit, no out and out right sided player is a concern key positions have to be a CB, CM, RW and a CF

I'll cry if we target Stones. Go for Varane or Marquinhos or something.

I think with a decent midfield behind him and some good wingers he will shine.

I know its only his first season breaking into the team but I was well impressed with him,he could be the real deal and we are certainly long overdue another gem to arise from the academy.

3 or 4 good players in and the resulting offloading of surplus and that's a pretty big change for one transfer window to be fair.

I agree, 7/8 players would be pointless. Particularly in an International tournament year where players are always later returning to / joining their clubs and acclimatising back into club football.

I'm just worried Stones is going to end up being another Phil Jones. Best case scenario is he instead ends up being another Rio, but at his age Rio was already a hugely established talent and was even captain of his club.

Unpopular Opinion: Stones is underrated on here. Considering his age and his potential, I think he's not developed well at Everton and Jose could turn him into a top class defender.
Yeh it's hard to criticise a young defender developing in a Martinez team. However the price Everton would want wouldn't reflect any reservations held about his real potential.

Stones seems to make mistakes for England too. Not sure if you can blame Martinez for him falling over and messing around on the ball

Regarding the price, probably true. But from what I've seen from him in the several Everton games I've watched, he's a very confident defender and is a rarity in that he's extremely good with the ball with his feet and is comfortable playing it out from the back. Very Rio in some ways.

Oh for sure, his distribution is exceptional and that would be a huge asset for a defence with Smalling as his partner. But ever since we started to be linked I took more of an interest in him and usually in that situation I admittedly see players in a better light. What I did notice is his basic defending (Smalling's greatest strength) is a bit lacking, even in our semi final I don't think he played that well.

He is only young and to be fair that's probably easily improved upon with experience but £40-50m+ is ridiculous unless it includes a lot of performance related bonuses.

How will Mou line up? Who will he sign?

-------------De Gea--------------
Darmian-Smalling-Stones?-Shaw
--Gomes?-Schneiderlin-Rooney
---Mané?--Zlatan?---Martial

I don't think Jose has ever had a team that wasn't solid as a rock at the back.

If he thinks Stones is good enough, and he blatantly does, I trust him.

I cannot wait for this to be announced.

I've just watched 2 Jose documentaries on YouTube and now I'm GASSED!

It's a massive shame that his failure at Chelsea is all many people remember him for.

This guy will make United great again.
