Mourinho thinks he can bring the best out of Falcao

Our "ultra negative" football scored us significantly more goals than you guys did and second most in the league.

From most of the reliable outlets it's being reported that one of the main reasons he's even being considered is because he's willing to cut his wages down significantly. He'll probably still be one of our highest earning players but we aren't completely shattering our wage structure for him. We don't pay silly wages like you guys do.

If he were still demanding 300k we'd simply look elsewhere.
okay good luck getting him cheap

Cheap relative to what he was earning last season. He'll still be on a good chunk of change.

All I'm saying is that he's not going to be on massive wages and therefor isn't a big risk for the club at all. We aren't going to pay our backup striker nearly double what our first choice one is on and 50% more than our best player.

Sounds like Mourinho is just chatting him up, maybe as a favor to his buddy Mendes? I dunno why Chelsea would need him when they have Costa, who is basically a younger, better and cnutier version of Falcao.

Also, why would Falcao want to go there and spend most of his time on the bench? I think he will want to go somewhere where he is going to be first choice, to help him get his mojo back, surely he won't settle with a sub role in his next team...

Anyway, it's a shame to see Falcao in this situation, he should have signed for a top club a long time ago if he wouldn't have been whored around Europe by his agents for easy money. I guess that what happens when you are to nice, people take you as a fool and step all over you.

That Colombia rating gives me reassurance that he well and truly is finished. He should be in the top two best players on the pitch for them.

Must be frustrating for Martinez being benched when falcao is in such poor form. He's clearly living off his reputation but I don't know how long it's going to last.

Remember how shit Costa was for Spain just before he joined us? Not sure it's fair to judge him on that match.

I only caught the first half but from what I saw he got basically no service.

:) Don't worry. You'll be getting him on the cheap, remember?

Please no, god no, cant we sign Bebe instead????

Looks like you'll be able to spend all of next season talking about Falcao, just like you did this season :)

That's true, but you've had a whole season to look at Falcao, and it was no different to his performance with Colombia yesterday. Tbh, Falcao should go to a team in Italy for eg, somewhere he doesn't have a lot of expectations or spotlight. It would be better for him to get his game back that way. Why on earth subject yourself to this kind of glare? I'm not quite sure what he wants. In any case, we'll see what Jose does with him.

I also remember the beast he was for Atletico. Falcao has been a beast for Colombia too, I really hope we dont get him.

To be honest, I'm not even really that concerned about which striker we get. Falcao or whoever. It's not really a super high priority position. I just want to know which midfielder we're going to sign.

We're not judging him on one match though.

We're judging him after a series of matches last season where he was fecking appalling. Last night was just another shitty match added to the list. He's a nice guy and I think he will probably score more for you next season than he did for us because you're a better team and will create more.

That said I still don't think he'll be good enough, if this transfer happens and he signs for Chelsea it'll be one of the most bizarre signings I can remember.

I;d rather we stuck with Remy and brought through Solanke. Remy is actually a pretty good striker, not sure why he didnt get many chances last season.

Solanke isn't ready to get significant minutes for us yet. Agree about Remy. Would be stupid to sell him and I'd be annoyed if we did so.

True but the point of a 3rd choice striker is to get only a few minutes. My concern with Falcao is his wages, and whether or not we end up forced to play him for some reason like United seemed to be, he did nothing whatsoever to justify starts yet continued to do so.

Congratulations with your purchase.

Exactly, a third choice, competing for one position, is ideal for a youth prospect like Bamford or Solanke I'd have thought.

Orc trying to justify the Falcao purchase.

What a mug.
Hey, it's just third choice you know. And, no matter what, we won't be paying as much as Manchester United you know. Did I mention our starting striker is world class? We don't even care about Falcao. The midfielder is what matters.

Not sure why Remy is constantly underrated. I think he's a great player. I'd imagine his goal to game ratio must be superb?

He scored 9 in 29 games, but almost all of those were subs. I like him and see him and Costa as the kind of Drogba/Anelka Partnership we had in 08-10, we wont find a better striker for the price we got him.

Yes and he seems to score a lot at every club he's been to – which is always the indicator.

Sky Sports reporting Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Falcao.

Apparently according to a twitter post he's considering his future. Why would any one consider their future when Falcao is arriving

Poor guy. Such a nice guy, does his best, great professional and it's sad to see him this bad.

I didn't like the signing for us either, but why so much hatred? I'll never get this.
I'd say it's because of the nonsense of Mourinho and the press about how he was going to get the best out of him and how stupid Utd would look.

In all fairness, what else is Mourinho supposed to say publicly? Falcao is broken down mentally anyways, he needs those type of public backings. And I was by no means supportive of our loan of him. But he did his time here, didn't complain too much and just didn't work out. I refuse to kick somebody who is on a massive downward spiral as it is though.

I don't expect him to do much different. I wouldn't expect United fans not to laugh when it goes wrong either. I wouldn't feel too bad for Falcao. He's stealing a fortune at the moment.

Apparently had 2 shots cleared on the line.

He's got Moyes level of luck.
