Mourinho thinks he can bring the best out of Falcao

When I saw this thread on the front page I though "Jose Can Ressurect Falcao" was another one of those ridiculously/awesomely named footballers you hear of occasionally.

Falcao isn't finished, he'll come good for Chelsea should they sign him.

I fully expect Mourinho to suceed. For after COPA AMERICA and a proper pre season Falcao will be back to full shape and fitness.

It's not like he was injured for the whole season. Besides, Falcao wasn't the player he was at Athletico either. I always believe in giving multiple chances to players but that is usually when there are at least some positives. Falcao showed absolutely nothing. It wasn't just his fitness. His first touch, his positional sense and his finishing have all gone down the drain. In my opinion the guy is finished as a top striker.

There's no evidence to suggest that. He had plenty of opportunities at United and received good enough service for a striker of his supposed calibre. Not only did he spend games on his arse, his shooting was also terrible. He showed nothing of his old self.

I could see him getting more goals than he did for us but the Falcao of old is gone forever. I could see him doing a better job for a team like Arsenal though.

Well, Morinnho diasgrees, me too. He was back from a bad injury and did not have enough time to find his feet at United. I think he wasn't bad against Chelsea away (our best game according to LVG) and showed glimpses of what he can. Personally, I don't expect him to become as good as he was at Atleti but even at 75 % he would be better than most strikers in the Prem. I don't like Mourinho but it would be stupid to underestimate his intelligence. The notion that United fans know better than him simply because they watched Falcao last season is unwarrented.

Falcao back in his Atletico looked unstoppable, probably the best striker in the world at the time. But the move to Monaco and that terrible injury really did some damage to him. I have only watched United a dozen times last season but Falcao was poor every time. He seemed like he'd put on some weight, too.

I'm surprised we're interested in signing him. Three and a half seasons of Torres was more than enough for me. I won't even mention the financial side of the possible transfer, which is ridiculous, considering his latest form and age.

Having said that, if there's a chance to see that Falcao from three years ago, maybe it's worth taking that risk, as long as it's a loan with seriously reduced wages.

He had half a season, during which time LVG was giving him chance after chance.
It got to a point where fans knew this guy was a terrible player and were suspecting that the only reason LVG was playing him was because he had already been signed.

Falcao is one of the worst strikers I have seen play for Man Utd in recent times. His goal scoring record is one of the worst. He cant stay on his feet for more than a few minutes. He gets bullied by teenage defenders. He has lost his touch. For me, he should've left they very day that he got subbed in the reserve match for being ****.
Whenever Falcao played for us, I felt we would not score any more goals. In the last 6 games, we scored 3 goals and Falcao got a lot playing time during those games.

A free transfer and a meager basic salary + a massive bonus for assists and goals scored" - this deal would make sense. I wouldn't pay even £1 for this guy, in terms of a transfer fee.

I’d agree with you. It’s unlikely he’ll have as poor a season as he did here wherever he goes, and if he plays a decent number of games then he’ll score more than he did here, but I’d be very surprised if he manages to return to being one of the best strikers in the world again.

You hope that a player goes to Chelsea and scores close to 30 goals in the league? That's a weird thing to hope unless you're his family or a Chelsea fan.

Never mentioned 30 goals or anything like that...? I just hope he can get back to his best. It is a big if but if it happens good for him because I have always liked him as a player but the rest of my post suggests we need to look at getting players at United to help us challenge the likes of Chelsea for the league and not worry about who they are signing and whether they'll be a success. We sign some top class players and let them worry about us!

Chelsea usually only playing with one striker should help as well; much of his time here came with two strikers. His "poaching" goals should go up because of that. But the "create and convert chances from nothing" ability, that I don't see ever coming back. Let's hope he keeps falling over with every other touch!

What leads you to believe that?
I think he will go to Chelsea as a backup for Diego Costa and play a handful of games with little impact....kinda like his time at OT. He looks to be finished at the highest level.

we didn't exactly create him rivers of chances, and the games with 2 up front and Rooney behind didn't suit any of them.

But in a year he never looked close to a top player, so not sure why it'll suddenly come back at a club he won't be playing that regularly at.
odd one.

Don't think even the most optimistic of our supporters think he'll become world class again. If he scores 10 PL goals (maybe 15 in all comps) and shows flashes of his former self it'll be a pretty good season.

Think Jose is winding up LVG/United. Yes, he's a good man manager and will get something from Falcao maybe, but not sure it'll be enough to justify whatever fee/salary Falcao wants. Nevertheless, nothing to do with us anymore.

He will score more than that with the service he will be getting.

I think his next salary will be nothing like the one United had to pay, as his reputation has dropped from the "best striker in the world" status it was.

I hope him well all the same and fitting into a winning team with a stable manager might be easier too.

He won't get enough games to score any more than that I reckon. Unless he's thrust into becoming our first choice striker if Costa is out for months.

He's going to be in the same position at Chelsea that he was with us. He'll be on the bench getting the odd game, I really don't see how he will come good for Chelsea. If he is ever to rediscover his form he will need to play regularly to build his fitness and confidence.

It's a win-win situation for Chelsea. After his poor season with us, he'll be cheap and there won't be any expectations. If he turns out well, they have a quality striker and can praise themselves. If he doesn't, it's not much of a loss for them.

Yes you did, you said you hope he finds his old form. That means him scoring close to 30 goals in the league.

It's fine to not worry about what other teams are doing but doesn't the same then go for not hoping our rivals do well?

We shouldn't have paid the fee and his wages no matter what happens at chelsea next year. I think mourinho will make a success out of him, but that doesn't mean we should blow half our budget on a position where he won't play

Translation: I, Jose, am a way better coach than that fat fraud Van Gaal. All top players should want to work with me or face a massive loss of form. Just look at Di Maria and Falcao if you don't believe me.

I don't believe they will sign him. It's just a wind up.

If he goes there and suddenly stops falling over every 2 minutes, and also becomes world class again...I'm seriously going to lose my shit.

No matter what Falcao does in the future won't change the fact that he was awful for us.

Pretty much. He's going to have to do something pretty special for me to 'regret' we let him go.

He has never scored 30 goals in this league though. So once again you are plucking figures out of somewhere. I hope he can return to his best. I would want that had we signed him or whoever signs him. I can actually think whatever I like just like you can. Do I want Chelsea to finish higher than us next season ..No
Do I want Falcao to get back to his best..Yes

Can't really explain it any clearer than this.

The verb to admit has been over-used in football for a while now, but I think it just jumped the shark.

Do football writers even know what it means anymore, or do they just think it means "saying" or "claiming"?:wenger:
Yes! This. This is the worst thing about football.

He won't be any worse than he was here but he won't be anything to worry about or regret either.

I don't know why you don't understand this? Do you live in literal world? I didn't say he scored 30 goals, I said close to 30 goals because that's what he did when he was in his best form which you hope he replicates.

So you can think like that but other people shouldn't think about what other clubs are doing in the transfer market? Ok then.

Am I the only one here who think he will be crap for Chelsea or whatever side he will play for next season? The new Torres.
