Mourinho | New old Chelsea manager

Perez confirms that Mourinho leaves "by mutual agreement" and thanks him for his work.

He denies that there's a pre-contract in place for Ancellotti (well, yes, he would deny that - PSG have threatened to sue them)

This really should have been a match made in heaven. He really did underestimate the Spanish lovefest for Casillas and co

Mourinho will annoy us and others once more as Chelsea manager. It will only mean he's doing his job. Just like Fergie did his. Wenger annoys nobody anymore.

It just didn't work out for him there....

I'm excited to see where Chelsea will be in three years...

He's there for the long haul now, Roman knows there's nobody better. He'll give him control of everything. It's bad news for us.

If he has any sense, that's exactly what to do. Give him the tools and let him build a ten year dynasty.

It's the meddling influences around him that could be the problem. I think Jose would happily bed in somewhere that he loves (club and city) now.

You're excited to potentially see Chelsea move to a much higher level in 3 years if his previous stint there is anything to go by?

You're one weird fella.

He'll give him control of everything.

He won't, for personal & for 'club policy' reasons - it's mooted, in football circles, that Abramovich & his advisers deliberately resist giving managers too much authority.

Well, Chelsea is Roman's personal playground. He bought the club to play real life FM, not meddling would be kind of pointless from his point of view. :D That said, Mourinho should be fine if he manages to win the CL trophy.

It'll be enough of a battle for José to get rid of Emenalo, let alone gain full authority.

There's no sign that he wants to get rid of Emenalo. He's taken a lot of flack, mainly due to the fact that he was unqualified for the position he holds and that he was an acolyte of Avram Grant when it was "jobs for the boys".

But he has quietly signed some good players. Oscar, Mata, Courtois, De Bruyne, Ramires, Lukaku etc and the targets we're linked with fit a similar profile as well. Young, with a decent head on their shoulders and a re-sale value.

I think the talk that Jose was digging his heels in to be rid of Emenalo was just paper talk.

Any chance of City making a late attempt to steal Jose from Chelsea?

Likely.

I voted 5 times for players, and I really think that the big Madrid egos (Casillas, Ramos and Ronaldo) were at fault for this failure.

Me, too. Mourinho is a brilliant manager and most of his ex-players speak fondly of him. Casillas and Ramos see their managers as doormats and are simply used to getting their ways. Someone with Mou's self-confidence was always going to clash with them.

I blame Casillas and Ramos but I also blame Perez who obviously doesn't have any problems with so much player power.

Also, Real Madrid's track record with managers speaks volumes. IMO Mourinho is the least blameworthy person in this.

Yessss...please give me directions to the Stadium of Smug. :D

Its true though, Jose returning, City in disarray, United having to get used to a new manager, Falcao, Rooney Cavani and Ronald in our team by September, the stars have aligned, the blue phoenix is rising, and I've spent too much time on RAWK!

Well the stars are truly aligned, and Liverpool will rise from the ashes.

Have you seen the Mourinho thread on RAWK?

If heaven has a nice man, a better man, with more integrity and less smugness will equal Paisley's record.

BTW I think the english affection for Mourinho stems from the fact everyone calls him "Jose"; Not even Inter fans call him that (and Madrid fans even less).

It's like he was everyone's good ol' brother. Or token foreigner..."Jose" the gardener.

It'd be funny if everyone called Moyes "David" now  Villas-Boas "André"

Yes I hear Chelsea fans don't really want him back as there's a real danger in his 3rd season he'll only finish 2nd in the league and reach the semis and final in the 2 major cups.
