Mourinho | New old Chelsea manager

Dunno why it's formatted like it is.
Mirror said:
Jose Mourinho has sensationally claimed Chelsea will not be allowed to reach the Champions League Final.

Goals from Frank Lampard and Raul Meireles set up a last-four blockbuster against Barcelona for Roberto di Matteo's men.

But ex-Blues boss Mourinho - whose Madrid side face Bayern Munich in the
last four - incredibly hinted at a conspiracy theory to prevent his team
and Chelsea being allowed to progress.

Mourinho said: "Let me be honest. I don't think the final will be a Real
Madrid - Chelsea final. I don't think.

"I prefer to say only this. I don't think it will be Real v Chelsea. It
could be Bayern or Barcelona, I just don't think it will be Real Madrid v
Chelsea - and you know why."

The comments would appear to refer to Chelsea being controversially dumped out of the competition by Barcelona at the semi-final stage three years ago after a string of highly-contentious decisions by then-referee Tom Henning Ovrebo.

Last season, Real were beaten by Barca at the same stage, losing 3-1 on
aggregate.

UEFA, however, are certain to investigate Mourinho's remarks following his
team's 5-2 win over Cypriot side APOEL .

 Gotta say I love the guy, but I can completely understand why people don't want this sort of person being in charge at United, but let's be honest, don't we all love a certain manager who speaks his mind? Whether or not this is over the line is for UEFA to decide.

He speaks sh*t. He is just trying to influence the referees by this cr*p.

I didn't see the original interview but have seen it replayed on SSN. They have the "and you know why" bit cut out on there but you can definitely see his lips moving after he says "I don't think it'll be Real Madrid v Chelsea". I'll be surprised if UEFA don't investigate what he has said but whether they can actually take action against him I'm not sure as what he has said is not clear cut even though we know what he is referring to.

It's disappointing to see the manager of a great club like Real Madrid speaking that way. Whether he believes it or not (and I suspect he doesn't) it gives legitimacy to an idea that, if it were true, would destroy the credibility of the Champions League as a competition. It is possible to go to far in defending your own club's interests as far as influencing refs goes.

Nothing will be done, there is no proof to say it was an allegation of corruption, the "you know why" part could be just we know barcelona will destroy chelsea in 2 legs, so no there wont be a real madrid v chelsea final.

So if Jose does the double this season, is there any chance of him staying put another year and attempting to win the Club World Cup? Or back to England?

I think he'll stay as long as Fergie stays with us. I think he'd love to be his successor

But that's boring...sitting on your arse for months and months...I just don't think that's his style.

Yeah I don't think it's really the thing for Mou but I also don't think he will manage in France or Germany.

When he leaves Real I'm pretty sure he will go back to England either to be SAFs successor or to be the best payed manager of all times by joining City.

He has already said that he wants to manage portugal. You'd have to think it'd be some time within the next few years as he'd be without Ronaldo in his peak if he waited much longer than that.

One of the hacks on ESPN Press Pass on Friday speculated that Jose is avoiding press conferences and the like to not have to answer questions about his future as he might be off this summer. Doubt it though personally.

I always felt that he'd finally find a way for his side to beat Barca. They looked a lot better after the last El Clasico and I felt that they were getting better. They finally have gotten there, and at the right time as well.

Who knew it would take adding €129.5m's worth of talent to an already world class squad, all hail the genius!

He's always said from the off, to judge him on his second season. Once again he's come up with the goods.

I don't think that's a fair comment tbh, especially considering Barca's spending over the last 18 months.

I didn't give him a chance in the league this year. Beating that Barca team in the league is an amazing accomplishment with any group of players. He's obviously a great manager, will be interesting to see what he does in the next few years.

He is just jelly we never buy someone.

No seriously if you have the money then why not buy good players with it?

On top of that not everyone is a Sir Alex Ferguson and can play one of the clubs best seasons with a young team in transition.

With mourinho, it is always apparent that he doesn't bring youth into his setup. That is something which I felt I do not want him near united.

Was always going to happen eventually. Two teams can't play each other that many times without at least one result going against Barca. Bit surprised it took so many attempts tbh.

Heh. Exactly. Spending stupendous sums of money to buy all the best players in the world seems to be the trick to beating the best team in the world. Who'd have thunk it?

Yeah, Agree. Especially when the best team in the world resorts to spending stupendous sums of money themselves, who'd have thunk it?

If its down to money, lfc wouldnt be eight, vity would walk the league, porto wont win the cl, and chelsea would probably still winning the leqgue prior city,

Jose is a ver good manager, its time we put the unlimited funds argument behind.

Sure he got ronaldo, but baecelona has messi. Its not like he completely outbought barca in every department. Who was higuain, pepe, bnezema when he took charge?

His buying ronie apart has been shrewd and apart from ronie n kaka, i dnt think he bought more expensive player than us

Yep. I suspect that he'd get a fraction of that amount to spend at United.

That would hold true if it was any team other than barca. Their system combined with three players and their understanding has been hailed as possibly the best ever in club football history. To beat it not only do you need a very good but you need to come up with a tactical plan to nullify what is an almost unstoppable machine. More than it being a case of the odds being in their favor, slowly Madrid's seem to have gotten better and better and dealing with barca despite not really beating them. Yesterday the tactics worked and they got the win. If its a one off then not a big deal. But if Mourinho is capable of making this rivalry a genuine contest in the head to heads then credit has to be given to him of being that tactically astute. Because no money spent can buy you what this current barca team have or get the better of it. You need that something extra tactically to make it possible.

It isnt just about them winning yesterday. They already had won the cop final but that was not a deserved win. It was a one off, much like Chelsea beat barca few days back.

But, things have changed recently. Yesterday, they were actually the better team and fully deserved the win. Even in the last classico, they were the better team for me. But they lost.

Money or not, they have closed the gap to barca and are now in a position where they can actually compete with them. Credit where its due. Barca are no saints when it comes to spending themselves.

That's because he has only had short term projects up until now. Everywhere he's gone, things were expected from him straightaway. I'm sure that if any club decides to give him more than three years he will set up a good youth system and introduce a few younger players.
