Mourinho bringing on Fellaini to defend a lead

We keep drawing games we should be winning. How the feck is that not Mourinho's fault ?

Yes penalty is on Fellaini, the fact we stopped playing football in minute 70 and gave the initiative completley to Everton instead of trying to get a second goal, is 100% on mourinho and has been costing us points week in week out.

His negative dumb tactics have fecked us out of the league already and it is just december. Top 4 is prob out of reach even. He has failed completley and with such players, he should be ashamed to his core.

Jose won't make the mistake again. As soon as he feels he can't trust Fellaini to do that job for us he'll be gone.

You can't blame Jose in theory, fellaini should be good at stopping the crosses and being more physical.

Instead though he came on half arsed and completely let himself and the team down.

I imagine Jose is going to be renaming mhkis cell for him.

I mean, you can. This goes back to @Scholesy 's initial point: Why Fellaini instead of Bailly if you wanted height/defensive presence and why Fellaini instead of Blind if you just wanted an extra man in defense? If there were less reasonable options, it would be more understandable, but there were.

This has finished his United career, so there's a silver lining there.
He had so many of these moments, yet he's still here. Won't be sure until I see him wearing another team's kit on the pitch. What a day it would be

In what theory? We all know Fellaini's weaknesses and that his strengths are not his actual strengths. Jose spent enough time with him to know this too.

The forum really is full of idiots.

He was brought on as they were throwing long balls into the box. Hardly his fault he was so clumsy in the box.

I want to hope this is the last time it happens, but ive thought that quite a lot yet it keeps on happening.

Going defensive doesnt help us as it kills any hope of an attack. Taking off Martial for Rashford was fine. But it seems when winning, taking of Mata or Mkhi is killing us.

We were defending the lead with 20 mins to go long before Fellaini came on which is why we only deserve to draw .

Fellaini came on to add height in the box I guess .. Made a stupid mistake but we should never be sitting back on a one goal lead with 20 mins to go anyway.

I knew he was gonna do something stupid when he came on and everyone would talk about how he's the worst footballer ever.

Fellaini is not the type of player who'll calm the game when defending a 1-0 lead. That role should be reserved for Carrick or Schweinsteiger. If you're gonna use Fellaini, you need to throw him up front against a team who parks the bus and plays long ball tactics.

Mourinho bottled it today. Shouldn't have made the change and again, where was arguably our player of the season Juan Mata?? Yet another game we don't win while Mata sits on the bench. So frustrating when you think about all the times he's bailed Mourinho out this season. He should be the first name on the team sheet.

So whose fault is it?

Correct. Fellaini is the guy who causes chaos, so you do not want him in your own penalty box.

The idea of Fellaini is better than the reality of him. The idea is;

- Very good in the air
- Strong

The reality;

- He is not good in the air
- He is clumsy

Osman: "Fellaini's always been clumsy like that. When he played for us we wanted him as far away from our box as possible."

How comes none of our managers see/know this?

Giggs was asked about this and basically said that for all his flaws he understands the game very well and will execute a managers plans to precision.

It's kind of funny how everyone on the match thread saw Fellaini warming up and 'shouting'....no no..sit down...ffs sit down! It was kind of written in the stars that he would come on and do a 'fallaini' in the box.

Seriously, looking at Mourinho in post match, I just don't think he will play again for United. I think Mourinho thought he might be able to defend the ball or at least attack the ball since we were sitting back too much and they were pushing the ball forward more quickly which is normal for a home side. It backfired tremendously....

Fellaini finished last 2 United managers and could do the same with Mourinho. He is not a defensive player and in a team which want to win PL he has no place.

Wenger made two subs in a 1-0 game at OT to bring Ox and Giroud on. Ox assisted, Giroud scored, they took a point. Today Jose made two subs at 1-0, one of them cost us two points. That says a lot about where either manager is right now in their ability to read the game and know their players.

Once Mkhitaryan started tiring it was time to bring Lingard on for his energy, when Pogba was being ineffective, it was time to bring on Mata to add some creativity and keep possession of the ball. Mourinho failed to recognize either move.

Shows how clueless Moyes was in bringing him here.

I don't blame Fellaini at this point. The only ones to blame are the managers responsible for bringing him here and continuously playing him, instead of getting rid of him the first minute they get the job. Also this bollocks of cautiously sitting back and trying to defend leads (and failing miserably) needs to stop. We are absolutely leaking points due to this shithousery 'tactic'.

You can absolutely blame Mourinho for this result and for the penalty. just look at a few tweets when he was brought on.

It wasn't just bringing Fellaini on, it was the overall predictability of our substitutions that was a bit depressing. Regardless of the match situation or individual performances was there really any doubt that barring injuries Martial and Mkhitaryan would be the first 2 players substituted?

To be fair, Mourinho's in game management is very poor. Always seems to take off the same players and his subs never influence games
