Does that mean DDG isn't Madrid's first choice?
That's completely different circumstances. De Gea is out of contract next year and Madrid know he wants to join them. They don't see the point in paying £30+ million for a player they can get for free next year. So technically, De Gea isn't Madrid's first choice, Casillas is, for this year anyway.
Sincerely hope not. It could be about price though. Surely we are not going to quibble over 5m? Another reason for the hold up might be Soton getting a replacement lined up. My guess is that it's Woody having a little game over money. He'll come to the party eventually and perhaps they know that. Always the danger of being gazumped in the process!
I honestly don't think it's about price. If we really wanted him and he was our first choice we'd pay the extra £5 million and have him in a United shirt by now, everyones happy. The fact we haven't returned with another bid suggests we think there are better targets for the price we're being quoted for him.

Why does he say Chelsea FC, Manchester City Fc and Southampton FC yet says Manchester United

Are we not even a football club anymore in his eyes or what ?

It's the hyperlink to the Facebook pages you doughnut.

:o

Why are we not Manchester United Football Club on FB ? Genuine question

It's Woodward that put the 'F.C.' back, iirc. So when the club created the facebook account, it was 'Manchester United'.

Yeah that's fair enough, personally I stopped reading it because I was always conscious of the fact that it's started by a genuine opinion laden United fan, someone who used to argue tooth and nail with scousers on an open football forum. They're far more likely to pick up on and write about the stories that United fans want to hear and the more comical rumours of Liverpool transfers, even if it's hidden by the backdrop of an impartial website, hence why I'm very sceptical to actually take anything from it as genuine transfer news! It's if anyone says Sport Witness are 'reporting' anything that it bugs me.
Sport Witness is basically just a United fan writing articles based on her opinions on transfer news. She set it up as a replacement BBC 606 forum when 606 shut down, wrote some articles on top of that, and because the writing is superior to most tabloids it's now a reputable source for transfer news, despite the fact there's no actual football reporters/journalists, sources or contacts involved. Fair play to those involved for turning it into what it is, but you may as well just read the caf.

You seem to have a big thing against SportWitness. Its more of a news aggregator than producer. No one sees it as a source but rather a place to go and read what all the other 'sources' are saying.

There's no one in the caf or anywhere else actually that provides insight into articles written in foreign newspapers.

Koeman has a press conference today so I'll imagine that we'll find out if there are any developments.

I think Koeman will mention interest from Arsenal or PSG. Maybe to crank up the pressure on us, or otherwise just to be an ass.

We must be pretty damn confident he's coming to us if we are just sauntering around this deal at our own leisurely pace and offering bids below his value. Either that, or we're prioritising Schweinsteiger first, which would be stupid.

Koeman will inevitably try and make out there is nothing happening with Morgan, as he would do no matter what is going on...yet this place will still go into meltdown.

Koeman says he is ill and will train tomorrow and travel with the team to Austria.

Koeman also says that he understands if he wants a move and wants it sorting soon.

If anyone wants to go full muppet, here's the link for the Koeman press conference.

Koemon confirmed our last bid, said hasn't been a new one yet. Dropped a hint with "If there's any business (with Morgan) I'd hope it would be soon as that would be best for the player"

"I had a meeting with Morgan. We will see what happens in the next few days. Numbers aren't my business, it's the club."

We got him.

Its as obvious as day we're not interested anymore.

So are we believing he's ill then?

Think he'll sign this week. Or at least I hope so, we can't be far off the asking price and it really shouldn't be that big of a deal, spending an extra 2 or 3m. If Van Gaal wants him then we should just pay it so Schneiderlin can have a full pre season with us to adapt as quickly as possible.

Koeman said no more bids until today. People think he means as of today? Or they have received one today?

Koeman says he is ill and will train tomorrow and travel with the team to Austria. Did then say bid was 2 weeks ago and "no other bids until today". Either means no bids as of today or they have had one today.

Koeman also says that he understands if he wants a move and wants it sorting soon.
As I've said before, when foreign people say "until today" they mean "up to today" - i.e. there has not been another bid

What would he have to gain from this ?

Managers and Directors are often openly honest when discussing their own players that want moves.

I hope we get this done by this week. He's pretty much exactly what we need, available at a decent price and the quicker we sign him the better as he can adapt to LVG's style of play.

He used the same sort of line a week or so ago irrc. Just lost in translation IMO. What he means is that as things stand today they haven't had another bid.

we launched a bid that was rejected two weeks ago and haven't made contact with the club since. He's obviously not a priority.

Still think this is all but done. If they go on tour tomorrow, surely it needs to be swift

So Morgan is too ill to be with the squad today, but will be ok to go on pre-season training tomorrow?

We're also letting him go on tour with them.

But hey, you're not allowed to say such things on here.
