That's completely different circumstances. De Gea is out of contract next year and Madrid know he wants to join them. They don't see the point in paying £30+ million for a player they can get for free next year. So technically, De Gea isn't Madrid's first choice, Casillas is, for this year anyway.Does that mean DDG isn't Madrid's first choice?
I honestly don't think it's about price. If we really wanted him and he was our first choice we'd pay the extra £5 million and have him in a United shirt by now, everyones happy. The fact we haven't returned with another bid suggests we think there are better targets for the price we're being quoted for him.Sincerely hope not. It could be about price though. Surely we are not going to quibble over 5m? Another reason for the hold up might be Soton getting a replacement lined up. My guess is that it's Woody having a little game over money. He'll come to the party eventually and perhaps they know that. Always the danger of being gazumped in the process!
