Sport Witness is basically just a United fan writing articles based on her opinions on transfer news. She set it up as a replacement BBC 606 forum when 606 shut down, wrote some articles on top of that, and because the writing is superior to most tabloids it's now a reputable source for transfer news, despite the fact there's no actual football reporters/journalists, sources or contacts involved. Fair play to those involved for turning it into what it is, but you may as well just read the caf.
Thanks for clearing that up.

Man, 606. Haven't heard that in a while. I miss it.

So we are still pussy footing around with this deal.....we are a bit clueless when it comes closing deals.

It might not be the fee which Arsenal think is too much, it could be wages.

There was a story last week that Arsenal couldn't match the salary United were offering.

Yes even in that case I refuse to believe that wage issue with arsenal is resolved especially if we are willing to pay him that.

You're not missing anything. Listening to 606 will destroy your faith in humanity.
Think he meant the forum rather than the programme. We are absolute pants at doing things quickly unless other clubs force us to. We'd still be waiting on Depay if it wasn't for PSG.

...and Liverpool SMH

If we don't end up signing him I think I might have to be temp banned for my own sanity.

Arsenal have 4 (?) french internationals and Wenger who comes from the same region as the lad (Alsace). I won't be surprised if he signs for them.

If we don't sign him so many news outlets will lose their credibility. Or at least they should. At one point everywhere was saying this was a done deal, besides the likes of Sky who said we were in talks and had bid.

Arsenal seems the logical destination. But all the journos have been saying they're out of the running, which got my hopes up.

Got a bad feeling he's holding out for arsenal. We haven't been stingy recently and I don't think now is the time to haggle over a few million in the grand scheme, especially with the wages being dropped significantly. We need good players right now, and he should be topping our list IMO.

Last summer we spunked cash and paid way over the odds for players. This summer, while I expect us to spend reasonably heavily again, I don't think we will be so cavalier about it. The club will be much more measured, in line with their long term approach. The fact is, there has been very little movement all round in the market, not just with United. Deals can take a few weeks to tie up for a variety of reasons, not least haggling over payment schedules, clauses and final price. It seems like we are in pole position for Schneiderlin and edging towards closing a deal. I suspect if we were in danger of being gazumped, we would significantly expedite dealings.

it will happen of course I just hope we get him before that which would mean we'll get him soon.

People have been saying this for just under a month now, wouldn't be so sure.

Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Id imagine this will be done by the 11th at the latest, as you'd assume we'd want him on the tour which I think we leave on the 13th for.

Domenech at it again: "Manchester United is a good move for him. United are better than Southampton, sure, but it's not Manchester City FC, it's not Chelsea Football Club. For him, the first thing is to leave Southampton FC".

what a cretin this guy is

This guy seems to really have an agenda against United lately for some odd reason, either that or he's just stupid.

Does he judge how big a club is based solely on where they finished in the previous seasons table or something equally as retarded.

It really seems like that's the case. I'm sure he considered Montpellier the biggest club in France when they won the league 3 years ago.

Definitely yeah, but then maybe we shouldn't be surprised coming from someone who not only believes in astrology but selected players based on it.

Due to this deal taking forever, it appears that Schneiderlin isn't our first choice CM. Are we really waiting on Schweinsteiger?

When you look at the time that Arsenal and Madrid took for Vietto or Cech, I think that the only problem is with us fans, we are less and less patient we want every deal done in no time.

Sincerely hope not. It could be about price though. Surely we are not going to quibble over 5m? Another reason for the hold up might be Soton getting a replacement lined up. My guess is that it's Woody having a little game over money. He'll come to the party eventually and perhaps they know that. Always the danger of being gazumped in the process!

Does that mean DDG isn't Madrid's first choice?

I love using logic in here.

We're the only team in the world that hasn't made a single signing yet. If you don't count Depay who doesn't count because he wanted to come here and is Dutch.
