Which I just don't understand. We're happy to let players leave for whatever fee the buyer fancies, but when it comes to vital new recruits we act like every penny counts.
If you have an unwanted player on your books, sucking away £100k a week in wages, then you sell him to the only club that's interested in buying him, at whatever price they're offering.

As far as penny pinching over our targets, are you sure the difference in valuations isn't 10m or so?

On the more positive side, we probably already have an agreement with the player, and it's basically a done deal as long as he and his camp don't lose patience.

Why believe the gutter press who have shown themselves ip for knowing very little about our dealings? We may have bid 25 million or thereabouts, an offer everyone on here agreed would be more than fair. If that had been rejected then of course we would be right to consider our options and haggle.

They've been spoilt by the Shaw money they got frombus and think they can widen that bunghole up amother notch. Feck them.

Koeman putting pressure on UTD. Probably wants the deal completed so Schneiderlin doesn't have to go on tour, and so that they can buy their replacement swiftly to bed him in.

Well said Kevin.

Just give them the 25 million and add a few incentives. Let's get this wrapped up Woody!

This deal will be done soon-ish. My stance hasn't changed on this.

we launched a bid that was rejected two weeks ago and haven't made contact with the club since. He's obviously not a priority.

How did you work that out?

I find it weird the way people are getting so hung up on the precise timing of our second bid. So if we make it within 10 days of the opener we're deadly serious but leave it two weeks or more and he's not a priority?

The only timeline that really matters in these negotiations is the days/hours before the closing of the window. That's when shit gets real. As it is, allowing time to slip buy just puts more and more pressure on the selling club. If they're resigned to the player leaving then the closer to the window they get the less time they have to secure a replacement.

Convenient illness, more like he's not Risking an injury before his medical. I expect to see movement before he goes on the pre season tour.

Kinda odd Koeman was so honest about everything else if he then made up the illness.

Morgan misses training, hes sick

Sick of waiting for the deal to go through

Club is, as ever, in a catch 22 situation. Pay a decent sum and the "we're always paying over the odds" brigade are out in force.

Except that everybody accepts Schneiderlin is worth more than the £20m we've reportedly bid.

Nobody says we always pay over the odds, but there have been a few instances in the last couple of years where we've paid much more than the player's value.

If we can p**s away £60m on Di Maria, a player we've struggled to integrate into the team, we can cough up a few extra million to secure a midfielder we really need. If we lose out on Schneiderlin because of petty haggling, Woody will have earned all the criticism he gets. He'll deserve to be tarred and feathered.

Koeman wasn't that honest. Since when were managers really open about an important player who wants out of their club? It's probably beyond his control now anyway. It was only a week ago he said there was no contact from United, now he is saying that 2 weeks ago we put in a bid for him. Expect some movement over the next few days.

I find it weird that he's so open and all that about it. If I were him I'd probably say something 'yea, Arsenal have contacted us recently and we're close to reaching an agreement' or something along those lines to force us to pay a couple of quid more.

Alot of the time. Like i said earlier people act like this doesn't happen but it actually does.

example would be klopp who openly came out and said Hummles had spoken to him about united and that he had told him he's good enough.

Juventus manager openly expressed interest Oscar, Peter Lim spoke about otamedi's release clause. Managers talk about their players and sometimes the players they want. It happens.

£25m, maybe even going to £30m with add ons, is a pret reasonable fee for someone like Schneiderlin.

We paid £29m for Herrera, who had never been capped and never played in the Prem. Whereas Schneiderlin has been one of the best midfielders in the league over the last two seasons alongside Carrick and Matic.

Probably doesn't want to make him look a poor professional, or to make any obvious signs that they are protecting him. Of course it could be a massive coincidence, I guess we will know soon.

The much more common response it ''At the moment he is my player, so I am treating him like my player'' i.e. he is coming on tour with us as normal until something happens. Koeman is more honest than most managers but is still not giving too much away, and I believe it's because it is beyond his control.

Soton is going on their preseason tour tomorrow, isn't it? Woodward better be fast if he wants to get him off that plane

Nah that can not be it. Surely someone was willing to pay 20mil for Nani, 15mil each for Brown and OShea, etc

Does that mean DDG isn't Madrid's first choice?

The single most obvious transfer of the summer in terms of it seems everyone "knowing" that Real Madrid wants him and he wants to go, but yet the deal is not done yet. Why don't Real Madrid just pay what we are asking instead of quibbling over the millions they can afford?

Yeah. They've got a match on Wednesday against RB Leipzig, but I think they're back in a few days before a second trip to Holland.

I'm surprised that so many here think it's a case of a few million. We've no idea how much we bid and how much they want. Our first bid could just have been to get talks going ala Shaw. Who knows maybe Soton want north of 35m and we're not interested at that price. But with a little negotiation we could haggle them down from there maybe. Either way I dont think this is simply a case of a few million quid.

Woodward is playing a clever game. He KNOWS schneiderlin wants too leave, he KNOWS Southampton will sell him, it's just about the price. Time for them is more important than us considering they need to find and sign a replacement. We will make them sweat on it and eventually we will find a compromise I am sure.

i disagree, time is just as crucial for us as it is for them. If they choose not to sell because we're dragging our heels, we need to persue a plan B quickly.

I'd rather that be the case then the Glazers going back to penny pinching, Was hoping them days had long died.
