Negotiations for Schneiderlin are still ongoing, according to Sky.
I've seriously wanted us to sign Schneiderlin for about five or six months now, it just makes so much sense.

I really don't think that team has enough attacking firepower. If United had a winger like Ronaldo, Bale, Hazard, Sanchez, Neymar, etc that would be ok. But with those wingers I don't think that midfield 3 has the right balance.
That's why Memphis would be a better choice on the wing than Mata (at least on paper).
I'd agree. The pace they'd give us would be extremely useful and they'd have a bit more licence with that solid midfield behind them.
I think he's the right type of player but I see him as an impact player this season. I really think that if United sign both Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger, they need to sign some real quality in attack.
I think Gundogan would add a lot more to the current United team than either Schneiderlin or Schweinsteiger.
If we really go get both Bastian and Schneiderlin, Herrera will be given a lot more license to go forward. Those are two strong defensive players. We might be able to play Mata or even Di Maria as attacking mid.

I think that should be the way to go if we keep our current 4-3-3 or switch to the 4-3-3 with the point forward. A lot of us are also mentioning that it would be great to bring in another midfielder, a defensive powerhouse who is comfortable with playing the 6 but still good at the ball. Martinez would be my favorite here I think but it seems he isn't willing to leave Bayern's yet, maybe another half season on Bayern's bench will change his opinion about that.

I didn't realise Southampton fans called us rags, thought that was a City thing.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does the term ''rags'' mean in relation to United?
It's a team set up to keep the ball and win it back very fast, seeing as our game plan revolves around ball retention. I'd swap Depay/Young in for Mata if we needed pace or the ability to beat a man. Although, Herrera and Mata have forged a great partnership. Their link up play was arguably the footballing highlight of our season.
Isn't rags a word for newspapers, maybe as a slang? Guess that's what that poster means. Newspapers.
Goes back to days when United were poor and had to play in "rags" -- City were richer back then. Had to play at Maine Road for a while after the war.
The thing is that Depay is a right footed player and will most likely play on the opposite site of Mata and not compete with him or Di Maria for the right wide spot.

I think he'llbe a great signing, only question I have is his long range passing. That's what really went missing when Carrick went down and I hope he can become that kind of player. That's what impressed me about William Carvalho. Not as good defensively as Schneiderlin but great passing range

Schneiderlin has quality long range paases, certainly better than Carvalho from what I have seen of him.
We need someone who can create goals out of nothing and beat players for fun, I am hoping we sign a Lacazette or Berahino type player. Literally all of our strikers struggle to beat a man apart from Wilson and I don't rate Wilson as good enough to break into the first team set up.

A lot will depend on the form of our wide players. If Di Maria and Depay are on top form for most of the season, then all we really need is a poacher who's capable of holding the ball up. Diego Costa, twat that he is, would be a perfect example.
Also, I think this season is shit or bust for Wilson. Either he breaks though or he leaves on loan next season.
