Carrick and Schneiderlin in a midfield two would be my prefered choice if both were fit, but i realise he would be meant for Carrick's position. I see him more as a defensive box-to-box midfielder, but he can definitely also play the holding position. It's going to be interesting seeing how it all pans out, first and foremost we need to get this deal done, still not sure at all we have this guy in the bag yet.
This would be far too sensible (boring) a signing to bring out any such gifs

I'm not too fussed about any single combination.
There's plenty of quality, choice, rotation and cover if you have Carrick, Bastian, Schneiderlin, Herrera, Fellaini and depending how you want to play, Di Maria and Mata too to choose from.

Is Schneiderlin actually that good though ? I always feel that Southampton play a system which suits all their defensive players and they all kind of look better than they actually are.
What a signing Schneiderlin would be. I hope the news of us signing him is true as he's one of the best defensive midfielders around at the moment and is proven in the Premiership. I would like to see us go for Schweinsteiger too though just to have extra cover in the midfield and let's be honest, If Schweinsteiger is available at decent price you can't pass on that.
Really excited about this. I was annoyed that we didn't even seem to be interested earlier on. It seemed like Arsenal was a done deal. Really hope we get him.

Yeah true. Tried to forget that but he ran the show then too. I'm trying not to get excited. He's actually the one real possibility signing I'd be most disappointed if we don't get.
I'm just playing around. I don't think we'll sign all of them but wanted to see some big names on the team.

I like this one. Possibly playing Di Maria instead of Mata depending on who's playing better, or having Herrera play deeper, Di Maria play out wide and Mata behind the striker when Carrick is inevitably injured.
I've been told Jeremy Cross from The Star is one of the journos that's in contact with Woody. That story could actually be legit.

With all due respect, I think you underestimate him slightly. He is a very good player.
I think Schneiderlin is as good now as Carrick was when we bought him from Spurs (obviously slightly different type of player).
He was the backbone of Koeman's Southampton. But, I have noticed that his defensive play is very reliant on a particular system. He needs others around him. Also, his attacking, in terms of his passing range, isn't the greatest.
He may become a great player with United. But, as of now, I think he's just above average.
Think he's the 2nd best defensive midfielder in the Prem, only behind Matic, he'd be a really good addition to the squad.
