and than returned a year later. I also think that Cech is very close to that level. Maybe he's not a Buffon, a Zoff or a Schmeichel but he's at par to VDS

Cant think of many defenders who past the 34 and were still going strong. Some were absolute geniuses like Baresi, Rio and Maldini. Ramos is nowhere near to that level. Hes not even the level of Vidic who should have returned 2 years ago

The fact is Schmikes was only good enough for minnows in those last years.

The best CB in the PL this season is 34. That's not the point, though. Ramos is 29. It's Cech who's 33.

This is actually questionable, as Chelsea did everything possible to make it work. Every other formation was a problem for them. They were even afraid to attack when they had one player more against PSG. Other teams usually don't do it that way, but put their defenders in situation where it's harder to defend.

I think you're referring to Terry whose been in the EPL since forever and with a team which has a quality and well estabilished defense

I think Schmeichel could have easily stayed at top flight for at least another year. Also Schmeichel had always had issues to retain the ideal weight. Cech doesnt seem to have those issues

The shit transfers in the latter years in the time of Hazard apparently worked out for him.

2 years later we signed AdM, a player with even better wank factor than Hazard and so far it hasn't worked out for him.

I'd say so. They have similar build and style too, but with Cech has better footballing experience.

Anyway, I don't believe Arsenal is haggling over 25m for a player that can improve them massively. They bought Welbeck for 16m.
 
The mirror one is by David McDonell who used to be pretty good , but now none of the journos know anything. The positive again is that the Arsenal journos are usually in the know and they are pretty quiet
