There's always some whinging git when these things come up, and that's me on this one, because I'd much, MUCH rather Schweinsteiger.

Absolutely ecstatic if true. He's the one I've wanted since the rumours surfaced.

If it's one or the other, I'd take the 25 year-old.

People are talking as if we can expect to get exactly what we've seen for the last couple of years at Soton. Which may turn out to be the case, in which case he's a useful signing.
But given that he's just establishing himself int he France team, and would be moving to the biggest club in the country to work under one of the top coaches around, there's a reasonable chance that by the time he hits his peak years around 27/28 he's one of the very best in Europe.

Who is Jeremy cross?

On twitter he is quoted by some accounts as saying that Southampton have accepted 25 million from us.

I think Schneiderlin can still learn a bit also, and I am glad that the reports seem to be pointing towards us. Can you imagine him and Herrera together in midfield, Both good passers, both have decent legs and both also have a bit of bite to their football.

Don't get me wrong I like him he'll do ok probably, but he's an understudy to Carrick for me, not an improvement, if Carrick gets injured then we'll have a better stand in than Blind which of course we need, but for me even if it'd only been for a year or two Schweinsteiger could have been a monster for us, but if he won't come then there's not a lot we could do, so we did the right in going for the B choice if it is all true.

Personally I think both is exactly the tonic we need and would complete our midfield.

I feel like having a person in the squad who's first name is Morgan should have been a priority for years.

I'm not sure what is worse, hearing that Schneiderlin to Man Utd may happen or hearing Arsenal fans saying we don't need Schneiderlin because Wilshere and Ramsey can cover for Coquelin. The two of them barely have a defensive bone in their body.

If we don't bring in another body to cover for Coquelin then we're in trouble.

Arteta?

Flamini can cover surely?

Is he a box-to-box player, or could he be considered more of a replacement for Carrick?
You could say he is box to box, people see him as a Carrick replacement because he is disciplined enough to do the work that not many CM's want to do. But he is quite creative also in my opinion and can be just as effective in the final third.

He's basically the second coming.

A sort of #6/#8 hybrid. From what I've seen I'd prefer him as a box-to-box player atm but maybe he'll develop into a Carrick type as time goes on.

Arteta has not played a game for us since November. Rumor is he may quietly retire this summer and become a coach. Even if he is fit to play again, he was in rapid decline before his injury and is not at the required standard anymore and neither is Flamini.

If I'm being honest, Coquelin is probably the only midfielder we have who is good enough to start and loves defending. Ramsey/Wilshere constantly abandon to central midfield area which leads to Coquelin having to make a lot of interceptions and tackles to compensate, which inflates his statistics. However Coquelin is an average passer at best, so Wenger has had to stick Cazorla in central midfield. This allows us to get our passing game going and Cazorla is good with the ball at his feet so won't get dispossessed.

Schneiderlin is good defensively and can pass the ball a bit so if we brought him in, we would be able to use one player instead of the two we do currently and this would allow Ramsey to return to his central midfield position instead of out on the right.

Journos dont know shit about what we're up to, but the fact they're not writing articles about Schneidy to Arsenal can only be a good sign at this stage.
