If a good pre season is the only thing hindering Gündogan from being world class again.

I dont think it is that simple. The mentality part plays a big role, i dont think Gündogan is mentally strong, showed during his first season at Dortmund. Plus the extend of his injury is still unclear. Maybe he plays with pain killers or whatever they use to keep the symptoms quiet. I personally am not a big fan of going for him, too much risk when there are other options out there.
 
Yes please. Let's sign players based on their current abilities rather than past experiences. Gund was one of the best in the world but Morgan has consistently been one of the best at what he does in the prem for a number of years now.
 
I still really hope we land him, he'd improve us immensely at what he does, 25 years old and very gettable being that he's at Southampton, before the season ended my no.1 & no.2 choices for (realistic) incoming players were Depay & Schneiderlin, hope we can get this done, come on Woody make us proud.
 
Morgan & Gundogen would be lovely. We'd still have a strong midfield if one of the key guys was missing.

Indeed. It would give us plenty of options since Carrick and Gundogan don't seem able to play the entire year injury free.
 
If we buy this guy I really hope we switch to a 4231. Surely LVG would consider a Schneiderlin - Herrera/Carrick duo to be defensively balanced enough.

Attainable, reasonably priced, good age and proven record in the PL.

With the number if positions we need to fill, we can't expect to get proven world beaters in all of them. We do need 1 or 2 though...
 
I reckon the reports of this guy being our back-up plan for an injury-prone, last-legsesque Schweinsteiger are just about mental enough to be true.
 
We need to get Schneiderlin and Otamendi sorted as soon as possible, the rest is gravy after that!

Quality player and we really need to sign him so I can get 'Schideiderlin' on my new adidas home jersey.

Schneiderlin and Otamendi should be have been signed already IMO... we need to forget about Hummels and Schweinsteiger and focus on players that actually want to play for us.

I seriously think Schneiderlin and Otamendi would be more effective (and less injury prone) than Hummels and Schweinsteiger for MUFC.

I don't get the impression that negotiating deals (in or out) is top of Woodward's skill set - we seem to have pretty much paid what the selling club wanted for anyone he's signed. Marketing and the Commercial side, on the other hand, he's the dogs

I think I raised this point in the 'What are your views on Woodward now?' (or something like that) thread.
He's basically completed deals for the asking prices (often overpaying), yet people were claiming he'd done an amazing job.

He's simply done his job. Nothing more, nothing less. Let's see if this summer brings some seriously shrewd business.
 
Out of all the targets we are supposedly interested in, its this deal that seems odd that it's not done and dusted already. The price seems to be reasonable (if you were to believe the papers, which I tend not too!) and he seems keen on a move to OT (again, if we believe the papers).
Maybe, he is 2nd choice, which could be a dangerous game to play.
I hope we sign him.

Southampton would probably want to get his replacement ready before they sold him. They've been linked with Gzregorz Krychowiak from Sevilla but nothing seems to be moving with that one at the moment.

I really hope we sign him, would be an almost ideal Midfielder for us, if not a big name one.

Neither of you have a clue as to whether there was any deviation from the original asking prices Woodward was quoted so that is random speculation.
 
It's just a guess but I think he's probably a B or maybe even C option and that we are waiting to see if one of the others come to fruition before buying him.

I hope that's the reason why the deal is being delayed, and not that we're looking at Swine Tiger as our number one choice. Can't see the benefit of dragging our feet in order to secure the signature of an aged, and now injury prone, Munich player. I may still be a bit gun-shy after the Hargreaves' debacle, but I'm sure Bayern will only sell if there's some impediment at play.

I hate to see us overpay for players again and again after post Fergie. I guess that's the only way now if we want our targets. But still with 24m, we probably could do better than Schneiderlin

Well as I said I think he's possibly our C option but in truth I don't know as the top CM's just aren't obtainable.

Please name who is better than Schneiderlin and is going for 24m... Also we weren't paying for the players we needed under SAF (Hazard, Lucas, Schneider) so thank goodness MUFC is finally willing to pay players what the market dictates they should be sold for.
