7m plus solid bonuses if he won't get a red card. Yeah... 7m.Perfect Schneiderlin replacement?

Can't deny that LVG would also help Clasie with that Schneiderlin deal and make him experience one of the best leagues in Europe while he's still relatively young.Koeman already confirmed Clasie as a potential target and Feyenoord are willing to transfer him. It will most likely be him as replacement.
Thiago? You needed a Scholes replacement, and he would have been just that. Ferguson/Moyes transition probably muddied the water. When was the last time we passed on a transfer that makes so much sense as this one? Everyone on earth seems to be in agreement this is a signing we must make, and the club even put a bid in. This transfer is bound to happen. I have way more faith in Van Gaal and Woody to think this is off the table.
You cant apply logic to that summer though. What a mess.Thiago? You needed a Scholes replacement, and he would have been just that. Ferguson/Moyes transition probably muddied the water.
We are in the champions league too where Schniederlin has never playedOn paper yes, but we'll see how he adapts to the Premier League. Schneiderlin is tried, tested and proven in this league.
This sounds perfect....Carrick would now be happy to share his game time with Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin (two positions between the three of them.) Both he and Schweinsteiger are experienced enough to recognise that not having to play every single game will limit the chances of the sort of serious injuries that have started to affect them over the last few seasons, and will lengthen their effective careers.
Then, in an ideal situation, you have Mata and Herrera competing for the third, attacking midfield position, with Pereira picking up any remaining game time there.
There will never be another Paul Scholes, he's a once in a lifetime player.Thiago? You needed a Scholes replacement, and he would have been just that. Ferguson/Moyes transition probably muddied the water.

Xavi couldn't score like a young Scholes, neither could Pirlo.Do you mean for United? Cos there've been two players very similar to Scholes this generation just gone (Pirlo and Xavi), and one (Xavi) was ostensibly better.
Xavi couldn't score like a young Scholes, neither could Pirlo.
Neither could send a ball 50 yards down the flank, 6 inches over the defenders onto his winger's foot, 49 out of 50 times like Scholes.
Neither won as many trophies either.
it's really fun but it's notGotta laugh at all the changing level of optimism/negativity regarding this transfer on a daily basis. Some of you just need to be patient and we'll know soon enough.
Yes please. The casualty list will be high, though. If we sign them both I'm gonna go through the whole thread and ban everyone who moaned about one meaning we don't want the other.
This. Looks like Southampton wanted to fleece us (again), so it's good that we will have leverage once the German is signed. I don't think either of them will take time to settle into the squad either, so if this rumbles on for another couple of weeks, it won't hurt£13 million For Bastian is going to send a clear message to southampton, stop trying to haggle us and sell the player for what they are worth.
Amen! There will never be another Paul Scholes, he's a once in a lifetime player.
I think it is biased that WC is considered as the pinnacle of a footballer's career. Just not fair for footballers from lesser countries. The first paragraph - true, but Scholes started to be recognised as a maestro around the same time he stopped scoring. It's not that aspect of his game that made him special.
Second paragraph - false. Just... false.
Third paragraph - well, you might want to look at Xavi's medal collection. 8 league titles, 4 CLs, 2 Euros and 1 WC. Pirlo has also won the WC which is the pinnacle of footballing achievement.
Alex Goring Crook still belives Schneiderlin is going to join United. Simon Peach I think would say something similar.I know they were only reports but didn't we agree personal terms with him? I'd still sign him as Carrick, seems to pick up those injuries which put him out of action for a long period. With the CL as well, there is room for Schneiderlin.
Can someone not tweet the journalist who has close ties with Southampton, to see if we're still interested?
Music to my ears.Alex Goring Crook still belives Schneiderlin is going to join United. Simon Peach I think would say something similar.
There's absolutely nothing to suggest that we're no longer in for him. Don't let the negative caftards influence youI know they were only reports but didn't we agree personal terms with him? IMHO, it is just a matter of Southampton closing out their deals for proper Schneiderlin replacement (Clasie perhaps?) before selling Schneiderlin off to United.
Carrick needs a long term replacement and Blind isn't good enough to be that. For me it wouldn't make sense to buy Scheinderlin as well. Between Carrick and Sweinsteiger we have the no 6 role sorted for the season and long term I think LVG would put Blind in there. Wouldn't we need someone like Herrera who would offer more going forward?
I don't think Scheinderlin is Carrick's long term replacement either. I think Schweinsteiger for short term share and Blind as understudy for a few years. I'm not a fan of Blind but LVG is and he is an intelligent player who will grow over the next few years.Carrick needs a long term replacement and Blind isn't good enough to be that.
Not signing Schneiderlin would make no sense.

Indeed he have. He has only 4 league titles though. How biased lol. Pirlo was a great goal scorer especially when he first broke into the team. Doesn't he also have 2 ECL medals like Scholes.
