Mo Salah

Tbh am i the only one who doesn’t understand anything in this thread?

The only thing i know is that in reference to that cringe tweet, since the word r*t*r*e* is not allowed on here, i will have to describe it using the phrase “extremely stupid and ignorant”.

Another player wouldn't simply have risked it, because it's not like he's playing for a team that's going to compete anyway.

I'm still United fan and will never support Liverpool for anything even if they have an Egyptian player, feck them, but Salah is a pure footballer, not provoking anyone, no haircuts, no tattoos, no stupid celebrations, just plays, scores and goes home. You hardly see these kind of players these days so I don't think he's worth hate or having fun of him. His only problem is he plays for Liverpool, which another great season in England and he'll leave and this problem will be done for.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :boring:

So Messi can get loads of tattoo's, stupid haircuts and it's OK...

Anybody else though and they're not "pure"

Give your head a wobble, yes Salah is good but you act like he's some sort of hero that's saved football ffs

Tbh I see his point. At least on the public eye, Salah behaves a bit differently from the usual football star and it's a bit refreshing.

Yes he seems to be a nice down to earth guy, but saying that's the "right" way to act is stupid. If people want to get a tattoo or a different haircut who cares?.

It's 1 of the worst excuses used against footballers, it doesn't effect how they play lol.

Perhaps criticise their over partying, too many commercials or flying around the world during "rest breaks".

Personally I hate tattoos and stupid haircuts but people can do whatever they want with their bodies, it's theirs. I will never judge a football on that so I get your point also.
I think it's the usual struggling to seperate the lines of appreciation between the man and the player.

I suppose, I just don't get the British way of banter. For me personally making fun of this situation is something I just wouldnt do.

Yes it happens, and everytime I have nothing but respect. But in how important this WC is for Egypt and how Salah is their greatest star ever... its understandable how journalists can become full of pathos.

Totally agreeing here: Salah is one of those who behave perfectly. No diving, no dirty plays... nothing. Not even boring like Owen. From a small place in Egypt, looking like he is enjoying every moment. Can only hope he does well. (Someone I would love to see at United's right wing).

He literally injured himself trying to cheat in a CL final.

I can't be alone in thinking's didn't actually impact the game at all?? He scored a penalty and that was it.
He was completely out of sorts, poor touches, giving the ball away, actually similar to how he played in the champs league final before the injury.
I'm not sure if he actually has the bottle at the highest level, even Ramos said he's played through injuries like Salahs with pain killing injections several times, hell even Phil Jones has played with pain killers!!

Well what the feck is this melodramatic shit ? Is there something in the Liverpool waters ? Why are many of them like that  ?
He's the most Scouse, Scouse journo of all time, full of emotion, twisted logic, delusion, victim mentality, ever the optimist, he ticks all the boxes.

He played unfit. It would have been far better for him if he says "feck off" and went on to complete rehabilitation for next season (which is very important for him to prove he didn't just have a freak season) but decided to risk it in the tournament. If the injury was aggravated and fecked up his next season, he would have been fecked.
Find me ONE player who wouldn't have done the same

Salah had a great season, he showed the natural attachment to his country as any other player would(it's especially true for small football countries that rarely qualify. This might well be the only WC he ever plays in), and did his best. That's commendable. Maddock's tweet reads like a United/Everton fan taking the piss. It's plain ridiculous

Don't think his fitness mattered either, that team around him is seriously pathetic. The only player in the world with the skillset and quality to do more than Salah yesterday was Messi

Guy has to be trolling. Look at the bites he got. Nobody's that silly to seriously believe that.

The media perception of him seems to be that he's a Messi type one man team that dominates and wins games on all on his own.

Isn't the reality closer to that the Liverpool team creates tons of chances for him as basically their striker (one with excellent pace and movement). In a Egypt team that isn't going to create loads of chances at the world cup he's not going to look that special.

You are the one who needs to give his head the wobble. I'm not talking about footballing abilities. I'm saying he's not doing anything to make anyone hate him personally. Just a pure footballer who does his job without a stupid drama around. He's impossible to hate even for a rival for me.

There's obviously no reason why you would be fond of Salah

I remember when we signed him there were a few reports of him being an anti-semite. I doubt he is (I put his refusal to shake Israeli players hands down being young and ill-advised) and I can't think of any other blemishes on his character.

I dont think anybody has an issue with Salah (except for that he plays for LIverpool). Hes not a Suarez type character who just comes off as detestable. I wanted to see him at the World Cup because you want the best players playing in the big tournaments.

However the stuff written about him and hype around him from certain parts of the media can help sour some people due to how cringey they might come off as or how much they act like hes doing something others have never ever done.
I actually think Salah comes off really well (well cept the whole Ramos apology thing which was weird). But other than that, its a shame he wasnt fully fit to begin with as theres a chance Egypt would have beaten Uruguay.

It's pointless to argue a point like this as I'm sure no non Arab will understand it but putting this aside, you know that there was massive pressure on him from Egyptians to not even travel to Israel ? (and yes, other Egyptian players previously refused to travel there, Ahmed Hassan being the most famous one). Still traveled and did his job as a pure professional.

I do, which I why I said he was "young and ill-advised". I don't think Salah is a racist.

Let's not get into an argument about that here, I'll never believe it's OK to refuse to sake a person's hand before a game off footy just because of their race.

On this I agree. I don't like discussing politics in Caf much anyway so better for everyone at football forums to concentrate on the footballing part.

Personally I don't have any problems with disliking him. I wouldn't if he wasn't a Liverpool player, but here we are.
The whole Ramos thing was embarrassing, even though mostly it was about the fans and pundits and less about Salah himself

Agreed.

I'm embarrassed that I didn't know TheReligion had a fat head and that others have been using this fact as sound argument without me.

You really seem to live in your own world. It was a fair duel with a bad outcome, nothing else.

He nearly did it to himself again doing it in match against Russia a couple of days ago.

It’s to force the man to bring him down and buy a free kick, so no it’s not the same as diving with no contact or pretending you are fatally wounded after you have tried to injure another player yourself, but it’s still cheating.

So to say he plays whiter than white is a falsehood, he games the system and cons the referee like everyone else.

I'll be astonished if you've ever played a competitive game of football in your life.
