Mo Salah

What's that six points on his license? Firmino's still serving a driving ban, they'll all be taking the bus together soon.

To reduce incident of car accidents I believe ?

Weird but great decision. We're a mess here when it comes to traffic so I can't complain.
The idea behind it is that if you're on your phone you're not putting all of your focus on driving, which is completely true.

You still see people on their phones all the time though.

Yeah I understand so I said it's to reduce incidents of accidents. Great decision though, whatever it's actually implied by drivers or not.

Your reaction time while on the phone is basically similar to drink driving. Should be illegal everywhere.

Yeah for sure, I'm amazed other countries don't have this in place.

Saw quite a bit of him at Chelsea, and then for Fiorentina. Unless he's massively improved at Roma, he is the epitome of the fast winger who looks amazing on Youtube, but is immensely frustrating to watch on a weekly basis. He's the kind of athletic winger the Premier League has seen a lot of - the type who looks incredible one week and absolute shit the next. The "he has all the ingredients, but if only he could figure it out..." type. They never do.

He's not a particularly good dribbler, unless kicking the ball 10 yards past a defender and trying to recover it himself constitutes good dribbling. His technique and decision-making can fluctuate anywhere between adequate to Bramble, often in the same game. He's at his best in an open game with space to run into, something he won't see a lot of at a big club, especially not in the Premier League.

Pretty sure Rodgers - or the nefarious "transfer committee" at Liverpool - were interested in him before Chelsea came along, so he might get a chance there. I could see him being successful in Klopp's system for a couple of months, leading to lots of hot takes about Klopp vs. Mourinho, and general hysteria, before he inevitably returns to his original level and we pretend those discussions never happened.

The only other feasible "big club" option in England could be Arsenal, if Arsene decides he wants to relive the Theo Walcott Experience (™). They're already reliving every season on a loop, why not take the next step and relive the players that led to them reliving every season? Loops within loops within loops. Feels like something Arsene would be into.

How stupid do you feel now mate? ;)

Don't really care about this in isolation as long as it's dealt with the same as it would be anyone else. Hardly the worst thing a footballer has done away froom the pitch.

The cringey, obviously staged pitch invasion where the child ran up to cuddle him was embarassing though. Everyone just ignored it, including the commentators, and he looked dissinterested. They're bizarrely obsessed with making him out to be some kind of superhero. He's a human being and not everyone supports Liverpool, so it's only going to end badly...Or with repeated stupid incidents, such as having to report him to the police yourselves in some weird attempt to maintain his moral image.

Liverpool fans are really blind in love to their "heroes". Klopp, salah and others can beat 10y old kid in the middle of the street and they would say; "kid attacked them".
Having said that, he was on the phone while driving. Big deal. It is minor offence, you pay fine and that is it. It is not like he was driving drunk or was involved in hit and run accident. Bs story from media and i don't know why club need to react on all that.

Holding the phone to your ear reduces your peripheral vision and messing with stuff generally distracts you. It’s proven to increase accidents.

But yes, plenty still do it, especially builders.

Absurd that it isn’t, really. Like you say, it’s equivalent to drinking and driving in terms of traffic risk.

That said, not much of a story. Give him the standard penalty, whatever that is in the UK, and jog on.

First to every rebound. Possibly the quickest minded forward in the league.

His drivers license should be revoked for this disgusting act.

As far as I can tell from the video on Twitter, the car is completely stationary when he is using his phone. And when it drives off it doesn't show him on the phone.

Yeah. His phone use certainly didn't endanger anybody and anyone likening it to drink driving is probably wide of the mark, in my opinion.

That said, no different from anybody else. You got caught, pay the fine. Move on.

Can’t say I’ve seen the incident but if he’s on his phone while driving I’d hope he’d get the same punishment as anyone else would.

What even is the punishment these days? 6 points on your license?

Would other people get pulled up on it if they are snapped by somebody else doing it? Or would it only be a thing if they get pulled over real time. Retrospectively getting a ticket (or whatever it is over there) just because you are famous and somebody recorded you is a bit meh. Sets a weird precedent of people following famous people to catch them doing things.

Don’t know - don’t care.

If your driving you shouldn’t be on your phone.

Someone at my work got seriously hurt because someone was messing around on his phone on a motorway. It’s just stupid to do so, and irresponsible.

Just because your one of the best players in the league doesn’t mean your above the law.

Obviously, that's why the law is in place. But then again, most people do it in some form. Using GPS, changing songs, etc. Not everyone uses it to text or call people.

Liverpool FC statement:

Salah was listening to music, hands free on his phone. Ramos rang and then began to intimidate Salah on the phone and provoked Salah to react by picking up his phone to turn it off. Ramos knew Salah was driving and his deliberate actions should be investigated.

A 37-game ban from league football isn't it?

Yeah last year. Went on a Fjord cruise.
Huh, how about that. My girlfriend’s family has a vacation home on an island with a view directly towards those mountains, so I go a couple of times each year. One of the best sights in Norway that. Don’t think many tourists visit that place, so you really hit the jackpot.

Disgraceful that someone could report saint mo for doing this. Texting while driving has only been made an offence because Sir Alex wants to get Liverpool F.C. players banned. Whoever recorded this obviously only followed him because they knew he was a honest hardworking scouse lad. Boycott the U.K. Highway Code, Boycott the U.K. traffic police. Boycott every newspaper that will report this. Justice for Mo #jfm11

I know you think you're being funny, but that bit at the end is disgrasceful. Mock Liverpool all you want but associating with the Justice campaign is really pathetic form.

He's become hugely popular to an extent I don't understand .I saw a few incidents in our pre season tour where it seemed he had the following of a global mega star. Now I don't really follow City or Spurs but I wondered. if Kane or Aguero who have had similar sort of stats to him over a longer period of time commanded the same sort of fanfare?

Knowing someone who was on the receiving end of a car accident due to the other driver checking a text message whilst driving at 30mph, i have absolute respect for Liverpool reporting him to police. I know it is still quite common for people to do this, but it sends a clear message to the public that this is illegal and the law has been implemented for the safety of fellow drivers. It does not matter if you are a superstar making bags of cash, the law is the law and you must pay the consequences. Hopefully he gets a suspended 2 year licence and a big fine.
