Mo Salah

The one from Maddock may be melodramatic, but the one you posted is silly.
No, it's not, it's a perfectly normal reply to a silly tweet. He played for his country therefore that is courageous? Bonkers.

Bit much hate towards Salah? and thats coming from a United supporter.

This man clearly tried everything a human possibly could do to lift the hopes and spirit of his country. Playing despite severe pain (i assume) and taking the responsibility to win or loose as the leader. all despite a high unlikelihood to reach the final rounds. no one would have blamed salah if egypt lost, in contrast he would seem even more of a superstar. Never seemed like a guy who is soft or not fully commited towards either club or nation (unlike Oezil).
To make fun of this situation or to assume any bad motivation is pure disrespect towards a player and person who has always acted 100% correct on and off the pitch.
its completely unprecendented what this man has gone through. Oh wait, no. Its nothing of the sort, as it happens all the time.

He played unfit. It would have been far better for him if he says "feck off" and went on to complete rehabilitation for next season (which is very important for him to prove he didn't just have a freak season) but decided to risk it in the tournament. If the injury was aggravated and fecked up his next season, he would have been fecked.

Footballers rush back from injuries all the time. And they are constantly one bad tackle/awkward fall away from season (or even career) ending injuries. Salah playing in the World Cup while not 100% fit is miles away from actual bravery.

Bravery would have been picking himself up in the CL final and battling on with his team mates until the end.

A slightly harsh assessment. There is a good chance that this will be his only chance to play in a World Cup. Certainly worth risking a shoulder injury. It’s hardly like he’s playing with a fractured ankle or ligament damage. Anyway he only has one game left now anyway, he’ll be back preparing for another trophy less season soon enough.

Another player wouldn't simply have risked it, because it's not like he's playing for a team that's going to compete anyway.

I'm still United fan and will never support Liverpool for anything even if they have an Egyptian player, feck them, but Salah is a pure footballer, not provoking anyone, no haircuts, no tattoos, no stupid celebrations, just plays, scores and goes home. You hardly see these kind of players these days so I don't think he's worth hate or having fun of him. His only problem is he plays for Liverpool, which another great season in England and he'll leave and this problem will be done for.

Irrelevant of whether it’s salah or not. If I was from a country that like Egypt hadn’t qualified for the World Cup in 35 years then I would 100% represent my country in it if I was carrying a shoulder injury even if there was no chance of winning it or not. I can’t believe anyone would feel any differently.

theres hardly much mocking the poor guy being injured. Its the Liverpool pity and over exagerration people object to

Not gonna judge him off this but if this was a United player, say Pogba going off in tears in a Champions League final and then doing nothing in a crucial game like this (apart from a miss that he'd normally score) he'd be branded weak, a choker and not up for it etc; etc;

I expect a million excuses.

I'll be honest; the first words that came to mind after reading this post were 'thick' and 'cnut'.

But in an attempt to be civilised:

He plays for Egypt and was half fit. Not sure what else you expected.

I don't disagree but it shows him holding his responsibility for the country. He knows the team is rubbish without him and played earlier than he should. I won't say bravery, but sense of responsibility.

It's not going to be his last time playing in World Cup as by the next tournament he'll still be there and the number of the teams are going to increase to 48 including 9 African teams by the way.

Don't disagree about anything bad said about Liverpool in general, as I said, feck them. I'm only concerned about Salah.

Getting injured in the first match, then plays the other match unfit and earlier than he should ?

I understand he plays for Pool but come on. He's one of those players that just plays the match and that's it, hardly tries to provoke the opponent on the pitch, does a weird haircut, has a strange tattoo or does anything to make anyone hate him.
I agree but I just feel if he played for United he wouldn't get a pass. I actually don't have anything bad to say about him just find the media to be a bunch of loons when it comes to Liverpool and protecting their stars.

I expected nothing but I'm just saying if Pogba, for example had gone off injured in a final and then showed up unfit and didn't make a difference in the World Cup he'd be getting tons of abuse.

I don't think it's United that's Pogba's problem with the press. It's mostly his price tag, haircut and life style in general that makes the media not forgiving him much. He's not responsible for his price tag and he's free to do what he want but that's the English media for you, they're usually garbage in their standards.

Vardy type levels of purple patch. He won't score half the goals next season.

I agree. Can't see him scoring more than 20 next season, which is still a decent number for a winger. Defenders will be wiser to him and his form will wear off and stabilise at Roma levels.

Russia moved to the brink of qualifying for the last 16 of the World Cup after the host nation beat Mohamed Salah's Egypt in St Petersburg

That’s a BBC article. When did Salah own Egypt?

Rooney came back early from injuries in 2 world cups. Was clearly unfit. Hell even fergie rushed Rooney back unfit to play against Bayern.

Difference is that Rooney was world class with multiple years of it and Salah has one. Let's see what happens next season when everyone knows Klopps tactics of winning the ball and countering relentlessy.

Dunno what's the fuss all about. He was chosen to represent his country in the World Cup, the dream for almost every professional football players. He has an injury but still could play so He played.

Nothing special about what He did. A lot of players could only dream to represent their countries in the World Cup and if His injury was really that bad, the medical team wouldn't have let him play. He's also had weeks of recovery after what happened in Kievtanbul, being taken care of by the best medical experts.

Why are LFC journos so weird?

They are all equally deluded. Journos, fans etc.

Salah's had his Indian summer. I reckon he will not reach that level again. If he's genuinely going to remain class, he will score ~15 goals next season, but it will be nothing to rave about.

Commiserations for Egypt, but can't really bring myself to sympathize with an extraordinarily hyped Liverpool player getting knocked out of the WC in an appropriately nondescript fashion.

I get that and my 1st post here yesterday was that I feel sorry for him. But you have to agree that tweet is exaggerating it to say it mildly.

Pure RAWK.
Where's the hate?
And god forbid United fans on United forum make fun of him. Sewere pain? I reckon he was fit to play so he probably didn't feel any pain.
I suppose, I just don't get the British way of banter. For me personally making fun of this situation is something I just wouldnt do.

Yes it happens, and everytime I have nothing but respect. But in how important this WC is for Egypt and how Salah is their greatest star ever... its understandable how journalists can become full of pathos.

Totally agreeing here: Salah is one of those who behave perfectly. No diving, no dirty plays... nothing. Not even boring like Owen. From a small place in Egypt, looking like he is enjoying every moment. Can only hope he does well. (Someone I would love to see at United's right wing).

This thread is weird. United fans generally being very embarrassing

Having actually read the last couple pages, I’ll have to retract the +1.

Originally thought people were dissing Salah for the sake of it, when in fact the ‘courageous’ stuff was in response to a hilariously cringe tweet. Those twitter replies :lol::lol:
