To be fair, the right arm was used as leverage to slam him into the ground (landing on his left shoulder)
It’s still a massive stretch to say he deliberately injured him though.

It was probably just a split-second decision of 'let me hold onto his arm while I'm on it'.It’s still a massive stretch to say he deliberately injured him though.
I feel they will risk it for Uruguay. A small shoulder injury would be less of a hamper than most other parts of the body.
Jones would feck up his own shoulder and be out for months if he tried that.Every defender will be shoulder barging him first chance they get.
Of course he doesn't know the guy. Certainly less of an issue than Gundogan and Ozil with Erdogan. To be fair, I doubt Salah knows who he is. He also plays for a country that's guilty of those things.
Both awful in their own way.Of course he doesn't know the guy. Certainly less of an issue than Gundogan and Ozil with Erdogan.
Yeah but if I'm told at amateur level to go in and "make sure the opponent knows I'm there" the first couple of challenges you can bet your house professional defenders do it in their sleep.I dont think he was deliberately trying for his shoulder - But I do think he was deliberately going for something that would hurt him in some way, make sure Salah knows every duel will be painful. Same when he runs into Karius. Attritional duels for 90 minutes. That Salah came off injured was just a bonus for him.
Yeah, truly afwul to take a picture with some guy you don't know. Both awful in their own way.
The use of football as basically PR for Chechnya and it's criminal leadership to the world is awful. Same as a dictator using football or footballers as PR.Yeah, truly afwul to take a picture with some guy you don't know.
It's a thread about Salah, not some obscure Russian gangster. I don't disagree with your first paragraph, obviously. The use of football as basically PR for Chechnya and it's criminal leadership to the world is awful. Same as a dictator using football or footballers as PR.
Didn't say a word about Salah, but stay defensive.
To be fair, I doubt Salah knows who he is. He also plays for a country that's guilty of those things.
Yeah true, I probably should have specified where I was coming from, but I had assumed it was a given due to the tone of the tweet, that ire was directed more at Kadyrov than SalahIt's a thread about Salah, not some obscure Russian gangster. I don't disagree with your first paragraph, obviously.
"Take a picture with"? He was parading him around a stadium. https://www.rt.com/sport/429356-kadyrov-salah-is-best/Yeah, truly afwul to take a picture with some guy you don't know.
That's weird indeed, yeah. Should not happen, you'd think the Egypt officialshave an idea who (not) to take around but maybe they had little choice being located in Grozny, don't know."Take a picture with"? He was parading him around a stadium. https://www.rt.com/sport/429356-kadyrov-salah-is-best/
Even an aloof footballer will have heard the condemnation of having the WC in Russia, and should be a bit on guard. At the very least his advisors and the NT people should have stopped it/warned him.

The teams choose their locations. Egypt chose to be in Grozny. Some teams choose to travel between places and be closer to each game whilst other will have a "home base" and stay there the entire tournament (Iceland do that for example). That's weird indeed, yeah. It was Egypt's decision. Probably had something to do with Checnya being a muslim state (especially since it's Ramadan). That's weird indeed, yeah. Yeah I know it's their own decision to be located there of course, I think I didn't phrase it very well - I meant, when you choose Grozny as your base camp, you're bound to meet that guy sooner or later given his apparent big influence in and around the city. Still, I think they should've been informed about him/his reputation. It was Egypt's decision. Probably had something to do with Checnya being a muslim state (especially since it's Ramadan).
And neither could Salah (about Liverpool) judging by his Instagram post yesterday. We all concluded his tears on Saturday night were due to the possibility his World Cup dream was over but the resident Scousers here were adamant it was because of his love for Liverpool. He didn't even mention Liverpool or the fans in his post, let alone the #YAWN bullshit.
Good point. It is just a matter of perspective. Some still see Polanski as a hero....Some leaders of the world are bad in the eye of (western) media/people, doesn't mean these leaders are also bad in the eye of other people.

Basing themselves in Grozny is such weird decision. They'll have a 2,500 km trip to Yekaterinburg and two hour time difference to play their opener, then another two hour shift and 2,000 km trip West to St Petersburg and finally another 1,700km East to Volgograd.
