Mo Salah

Had a very impressive season. Despite his accolades, don't think he's got all the credit he deserves, in part down to how determined the media are to push Harry Kane as the best striker in the league. Deserves the Player of the year accolade I think De Bruyne is the only one who even came close to him for it.

Did anyone see this coming? Frighteningly efficient player. It’s satisfying that Liverpool are absolutely nowhere near us let alone City even with all his goals though.

Follow your heart to Madrid.

To be fair everyone has been saying its Salah v De Bruyne for player of the year, no one has been mentioning Kane really. Kane is still on 26 goals himself, having being injured too.

No, totally fair, I think most fans feel that way. I just tend to think purely in terms of the media Kane gets a lot of coverage, with it being a World Cup year hardly unexpected but I still think there’s been a push in the Kane narrative.

Salah has got more coverage than any other PL player from what I can see.

Not to this extent, I had a bet on with my brother Salah would score 20 in the league this season. I thought he’d reach between 20 and 25 after watching him in preseason but 31 is unbelievable.

Can you imagine that Chelsea sold Salah, De Bruyne and Lukaku? I mean yeah, they've won 2 titles in recent years but holy cow though.

I thought he could go on to be our topscorer this season based on pre season and Firmino not being terribly prolific.

I would never have imagined that even though Firmino has 25 goals so far he's nowhere near salah in the goal charts.

City i agree with but i wouldn't say we are absolutely nowhere near you guys.

All being well we'll finish at least 6 points ahead of you, which while not the biggest gap in the world, is very clear.

Absolutely stunning, no one could have predicted he would have been this good. Will be interesting to see if he could do it again next season.

He did it, he really did it. So proud. Landmark achievement in history of our players in Europe.

Well deserved Mo! You know a new signing has had an impact that you can barely even remember your previous talisman leaving the club... Phil who?

I don't like Liverpool but I have a soft spot for this man. Couldn't have happened to a more humble person. Very well deserved winner of the award. Why is he playing for Liverpool? Of all clubs. He is too classy to be playing for Liverpool.

Well deserved. He's been absolutely incredible and I don't think that anyone would've predicted that he would be this good. Glad that he won it ahead of De Bruyne, deserved it more than him.

Such a shame he plays for Liverpool. :(

Well if you have been the most consistent player (scoring in most matches) this season, then it is natural that you will get coverage whereas Kane hasn't performed exceptionally well in big matches yet has got the coverage because of him being best England striker and also for some of the wrong reasons.

You surely can't believe that? You do realise if we'd not had the UCL to concentrate on we'd most likely be ahead of you as we wouldn't have put out weakened teams vs Everton and West Brom giving us 4 more points. Do you not think it also says something that we're 2nd favourites to win the EPL next season according to bookies and you're 3rd? Seems odd to me if we're "absolutely nowhere near" you. Wumming at it's finest I guess.

Basically, if you'd won more points than us, you'd be ahead of us?

Genius.

If we're nowhere near United being 6 points off, dread to think of yours (and ours) title chances next season if you're more than double that behind City.

Well deserved for Mo Salah. Great player and seems to be a fine lad.

Keep believing your own hype, see where it gets you.

He should just feck off to Real Madrid.

That's also the highest praise I can give to a rival player.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on why he believed De Bruyne should have won the award: "When you are analysing nine months or 10 months then there was no player better than him.

"In terms of the continuity and playing every three days in all competitions he was there. I am sorry, maybe with numbers, there are numbers guys better than him, but no player in this season with the team who wins [the title] five games before the end, and he was the best.

"I would like to feel that he deserved it. But at the end in summer time we will be at home being champions and for that to happen the players have to play."

Bitter Pep
