Miscellaneous Reserve/Youth News

His articles are contradictory isn't it. On one side he talks about our "falling academy" and on the other hand he is saying ManUtd are drifting away from history because of changes in academy.
He says anything that will help him get clicks on his article

Axel, Henderson, Wilson, Joel, TFM, Blackett, Varela and Andreas all trained with the 1st team today. Which is weird because apparently Varela and Blackett weren't supposed to be "according to ssn sources".

Couldn't help but notice that Willo's legs look bigger, clearly been putting work in at the gym which is good and could help his cause. Good to see Dean Henderson there too, wonder where Tyrell was considering he should be playing on Saturday. No CBJ or Riley either.

Does anyone know the squad that travelled to Germany for the training camp? Was it just u18's? Or a mixture of 18's and 21's?

Not having a scout based in London doesn't mean we don't scout there though. In 1 of his other articles Mitten was giving out that we don't have a satellite school in Liverpool while they have 1 in Manchester but ignored the fact that some of our coaches also work in the football in the community coaching in Liverpool so see pretty much every player and have signed quite a few players through that. He seems to like putting things in his articles that suit the point he's trying to make but only tells half the story.

Ive lost a lot of respect for Mitten. He is just misery all the time now. That and he never stfu about Spanish football

Looks like Willock could be involved today. Him, the 3 keepers, Wilson, Keane, axel, warren, TFM, Andreas are amongst those listed as being part of the squad for the game.

Well it looks like Willock and Warren aren't involved today, not named on the bench.

Jose's words about Axel there has just made me so much happier than it should've done

Does anyone know if gribbin is still injured? Haven't seen or heard anything about him recently

We're doing the premier league international tournament. I think this is probably better than the domestic option, purely by looking at the teams entering (Athletic Club, Benfica, Celtic, Dinamo Zagreb, Feyenoord, Hertha Berlin, Porto, PSV Eindhoven, Sparta Prague, Valencia, Villarreal, Wolfsburg). Also has a group stage format so is more or less similar to the u19 champions league.

A draw will be held to determine six groups of four teams with the sides playing each other once. The top club in each group plus the two best placed runners-up will advance to the knockout stages of the competition.
This is a much better format and should mean fewer defensive teams get through to the knockout stage.

U16/18's are supposed to be in action in a tournament today, that lasts the whole weekend. Think it's in Liverpool, some decent teams involved (Liverpool, Spurs amongst others) so should be good tests.

Strangely enough the u16 games of the tournament are this weekend but the u18s aren't until next weekend

That's weird, it was described as a joint thing. Any idea about the squad we've taken down there?

fecking hell Altrincham line up with David Lynch...

on a serious note it doesn't look that positive to line up again with average players like Sadiq, Love, Blackett, McTominay and the king of all average players Weir, okay I know he had a great season but still he has no chance to make it here, for his own good he should leave..

I need to get out of the Pogba thread for the sake of my health, this thread seems a tranquil place.

Good to see Gribbin with the reserves, playing and on the score sheet. I really hope he buckles down this season as I think if he's focused there's no reason he can't have a similar impact as Rashford, albeit in an attacking midfield role rather than as a striker.

That pogba thread is a disgrace. But on Gribbin, it's good to see him start the season with the u21's rather than the 18s. Maybe he's in line for early promotion, especially with all the attacking players at 18 level. Hopefully he finds form and kicks on this season.

Gribbin is too similar to Januzaj and we have no space for such player especially when there is Mata, Rooney, Micky and possibly Pogba for that position. Hope he does well for U21, he still has a lot to prove in that cathegory first and after this season he can start to push for the first team, if he ever shines that much that Mourinho will give him a chance..

any highlights from the game?

No surprise for me....would be wierd if he would play again for the U18's.

Only pre-season but that lineup is weird.Surely El-Fitouri and McTominay should not start ahead of Harrop and Willock, or even Redmond?

Good to see Gribbin and Kehinde making an impact already. No surprise to see Gribbin and Dearnley promoted, but surprise not to see Warren.

Hopefully we won't see Love,Blackett,El-Fitouri,Wilson,Harrop,Weir when the real season starts, for good or bad reasons. Those 17 remaining players + Tuanzebe,Williams and Warren should be enough IMO.

Rooney will move on soon,Micky can play on the wing, same as Pogba (CM) and there's no guarantee that Mata will have a long-term future at the club.Gribbin can play deeper also.
