Mikel Arteta | Lego Pep watch

Tierney, Saka, Partey is arguably a spine of a top six club. But they have so much deadwood who are only motivated when they come up against big sides.

Arteta will surely leave, they aren't prepared to spend big in the transfer market so why keep him there?

Never heard someone include wide players as the spine of a team?

The spine is down the centre. And they lack in all central areas as well as some wide ones!

They're really being helped out by the fact that there are some genuinely terrible teams below them on the table, because in their current form they arguably should be in the relegation spots.

8 defeats from 14, atrocious.

I backed them to be ready to step up from last year but was completely wrong.

Arsenal surely thinking about letting him go now.

such an awful awful game. had monopoly possession for the second half and couldnt make a single real threat.

Tbf with Arteta,he s paying for the transfer mistakes of his predecessors.
At times they were. I actually think the squad itself is more of an issue than the coach. Severely lacking in quality
Lot of young players too which means inconsistency

Lucky for Arsenal fulham, WB and sheffield are really bad this season.

Yep. I think bringing in the majority of the reserve team players actually showed them promise tonight.

The squad that he has got are pretty horrendous. I think even a more experienced coach/manager wouldn't do particularly well with that side. They're so far from where they need to be. If we think we have a way to go, they're at least two or three levels below that.

Taken over an awful disjointed squad. There was possibly a mandate for evolving their playing style and developing their young players towards something more cohesive.

But when you go as defensive as he has done with so little to show for it, it's hard to see why he should be given much more time. He is doing no better than most run of the mill English managers would have done with such a style of play. Steve Bruce would do a better job than this.

The squad is horrible but they don't have a squad that should be 15th in the table. If Brighton beat Sheffield United they will be 16th.

Burnley are also 4 points away from them with 2 games in hand.

If Allen and James were playing, Arsenal wouldnt have gotten out their own half today. An understrength Everton strolling to a 2-1 win.

Everyone is saying that in hindsight now. At the beginning of 2019/20 season, they were a shoe-in for top 4 for almost all pundits, journos and people here. Even at the beginning of this season, many thought they would make top 4, or at least top 6.

Just that Pepe and Luiz signing tbf.

Arteta hasn't helped himself by not signing a #10 this season despite knowing he wont register Ozil
