Mikel Arteta | Lego Pep watch

Another way to look at it is that he bottled the 4th spot, but then got it comfortably next season. By that token we'll be winning the title comfortably next season.
Only 1 team wins the league and its City , every club can try the corrup club is winning it no matter what Gunners do what Utd what Liverpool do etc etc... its a prossesion until the FA kick them out.

I don't want City to win it, I don't want Gunners to win it. 1 of them are going to win it. City are on for a treble do UTD fans want That? I don't, we will have to do them in the FA Cup. And Real in CL because there not losing the league from here ??

I think that's his only chance of winning a league title gone. This season was the perfect storm for him and Arsenal, I just don't see them ever being able to replicate that. The competition will continue to get stronger and Arteta won't be able to sack off the cup competitions at will next season.

That probably will hold true, but never know. What surprised me is that Arsenal was able to sustain it for so long, but now they've had injuries to key players (finally) like Saliba, Partey, Xhaka. And without the old head guidance, they've lost the plot too frequently in the run in.

He's made the tactical adjustment of inverted fullbacks to help disguise the shortcomings of Xhaka and Partey. Ramsdale has regressed significantly recently and has shown shades of his Sheffield United days.

But as long as Arsenal have Odegaard, Saka, and Martinelli, they'll be very good. And fair play to them.

I wanted him to win it this year because I am sure we can be better than them next year... while it seems near impossible for us to be better than City next year.

For all the talk about how successful ETH is being in his first season, he’s now bottling the league after getting early exits in all cups.

It’s his fourth season with Arsenal, and Arteta is getting properly schooled by Brighton.

I’m pretty sure Arsenal won’t be nowhere near top of the league next season and Arteta will be gone by the end of it.

Couldn't have all happened to a nicer chap. Think this season was a massive opportunity for them. Not sure that this is repeatable next year for them. The insane celebrations after beating Fulham in week 5 look hilarious now.

People thought he will be kloppesque but I have a feeling we are seeing Brendan 2.0

I agree. Mourinho schooled Brendan when he got a bit too cocky and started dreaming about titles, and now Pep is doing the same to Arteta.

Keeping the challenge going season after season is a very, very difficult thing to do, and in the last twenty years or so the only managers we’ve really seen who are able to do that properly are SAF, Pep and Mourinho. The odds are against Arteta in this regard.

Reality check, how the feck you bottled that much of a lead?

Arsenal having worse season than us unfortunately.

Reckon a lot his own players can’t stand him acting up on the touch line throughout the game. When they are chasing a result all it does is transmit nervous energy.

He tows an incredibly fine line. I wouldn't be surprised if it all comes crashing down Brenton style.

For me, he shat the bed as soon as he decided he was playing Rob Holding and/or Kiwior in every game for the run in.

Surely if your backup options are that shit, you move White to centre half, have Tierney LB and Zinchenko (or anybody else who can halfway play the position) tucking in from RB.

Arteta is a fecking wanker. Sucks that city will win the league and the treble is closer but happy that fecking arteta is getting a small dose of payback for his stupid behavior on the touchline. Especially the referee imitation and the group discussions with fake injuries.

I have never seen a more irritating manager at the touchline in football ever than Arteta. He fully deserve this. Zero sportsmanship, crybabies, complained on every small decisions, arrogant.

I have never seen it before that a manager who has achieved as little as him just after a few months of being top of the league is being put at the level of two world class managers who have won it all.
I have read too often „look at Pep, Klopp, Arteta“. „He (some good manager) may not be as good as Pep, Klopp, Arteta yet, but …“

Utterly bizarre or just stupid recency bias.

The bloke is a living meme.

You know what, it sounds cringe on paper but I don't mind it? Im all about creativity and it does seem like something David Brent would do. But basically what im saying is, I want an office dog that I don't have to take care of.

I mean, having a dog to give good vibe is fine. It's actually might work, for people that like dog.

But to name it "Win". Damnn... that kinda ruin the "vibe" for me.

My auntie has a dog called Winnie, who she affectionately calls Win. It could just be an unfortunate coincidence! Based on the bits of the documentary I saw, it could well be Arteta being a nob though.

most likely that, base on the purpose he brought in the dog.

Its easy to kick someone at their low point. Taking a step back however, Arteta has improved Arsenal tenfold. The playing group, the way we play football, the attitude shown by the players. He has raised standards at Arsenal and are the only club other than Liverpool or Man City to crack 80 points a season in the past 5 years. He does need to iron out a few faults and learn from these experiences though.

As for those saying Arsenal will regress next season. To say this is to suggest Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard, Saliba Gabriel and the rest of the playing group will regress. We didnt win all these games by sheer accident, its a by product of the quality of players and quality footballer we played for 80% of the season. We will win a lot of games next season too. Why wouldnt we, when you have an Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli, Jesus leading the line you have every reason for optimism. Especially given the indication is Arteta will show some ruthlessness with the playing group and will be backed in the transfer market. Arteta is also showing some ruthlessness with early reports saying Tierney, Nketiah and Smith Rowe could be sold along with Balogun. We will raise decent cash from player sales, Arteta will get backed again and add players good enough for the first team and fill out the squad. Next season Partey & Jorginho are going to be a squad players, as Declan Rice is coming. Throw in the organic growth of players like Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard and Saliba who are still in devleopment phase. Given teams seldom win four in a row. Next season is just as good as chance to win the league as this season.

Your talking like ETH is the messiah and you will absolutly challenge for the league next season at our expense.

I hear this talk about how the league will be more competitive next season and Arsenal need to 'watch out', and fair enough, maybe it will. But it cuts both ways. It will be harder for Man United too, will it not? Or will it be hard for Arsenal, and easy for Man United?

What makes you think Arsenal wont finish above United for the 8th time in 11 years?

How do you know Rice is coming in?

I agree with you that I see no reason why we should regress, but I think what this season has shown us is that it's just way to early and to difficult to predict how next season will go.

We always hear every season that the big clubs will spend and improve, but just because of the competition involved that's just impossible. If Liverpool improve then that means 1 of the existing top 4 miss out, so therefore that team won't improve, and so on. We were told last season that was our best chance for top 4, Liverpool, Chelsea, Utd, Spurs, Newcastle would all strengthen and be better than us, look what happened there.

This season isn't even finished, transfer window hasn't even started, and we are hearing bold predictions already on all sides. Even after the window shuts we'll hear how teams have won the transfer window, Spurs in particular were meant to have done really well, spent a good amount & got their targets in early. That didn't turn out to well now.

When he gets sacked in December, who keeps the dog?
