Oh, don't get me wrong, I was as angry as anyone with how we played, I'm just saying I don't think he sets them up deliberately to be cautious, perhaps it's that he can't coach them to attack better, or what I suspect that they've lost the intensity & aggression in their play that is vital in this day & age, & that might not be a direct fault of the manager but something that directly comes back round to him anyway.
It’s actually rather fitting, the day Wenger turned to a decent at best Everton midfielder to sort out his woes was the day he cemented Arsenal’s place away from the top table.
I remember it well. It just seemed so desperate. They signed Benayoun from Chelsea on the same day.
Aye, it was so desperate, Arteta was there for any top club to take for years but no-one deemed him good enough, rightfully so, it stank of desperation.

It was. I remember because the fact that Arsenal hadn't signed anyone was being reported for weeks up until the build-up to deadline day.

TBF to Barry he's praised Ole when we've done well. I fail to remember Wilson praising Ole at all. Maybe a sentence.

He doesn't come close to even being any kind of club legend or whatever from his playing career there. It's just such a strange appointment from every angle (apart from to """""actual football people""""" of course).

There seems insinuation that Ole had better squad than Artela which contributed to him doing better.

It can be true that Ole had a better squad (which I think he did) but has also done a better job. As an extreme example If I managed City's team and Pep managed my five a side team (with a few extra obviously) in a game the team I managed would win, not all managerial jobs are equal, but it's also the case that Ole has improved what he started with while Arteta hasn't, surely nobody in their right mind would think of making that swap.
feck no, Arteta is shit. Just like Lampard was shit, they're early in their careers and could come good later down the road but as of now neither man should be anywhere near a top 6 club.

I saw one poster on there saying that Villarreal was a very average team and that Aubameyang would score 3. Mate your team is just as average. It always leaves me scratching my head when they are oblivious to how bad their team is.
That only happened since Arteta joined the club though. Emery had been only 1 point away from 5th when he was sacked having finished 5th the season prior. Before 19/20 the last time Arsenal finished below the top 6 was 94/95. Sorry, but for me Arteta is the very reason why Arsenal are outside the Top 6, obviously the owners are also having an impact but he's just a very poor Manager.

I find it funny that TOTTENHAM, of all teams, have just binned off their manager while currently sitting 4 places and 7 points above them. They've fallen down the pecking order so quickly that even fecking Spurs now have higher standards.
It's just extra sweet that all the "patterns of play, mate" navel gazers in both football journalism and fandom (typified by that Delaney quote) are being made to look this daft after proclaiming Action Man the second coming on the basis of absolutely fecking nothing.

Agreed, i'm actually staggered they havent binned Arteta at the same time Chelsea binned Lampard as Arteta has not once shown that he can turn it around in the league. He just looks woefully out of depth and why Arsenal feel the need to lower their expectations to suddenly finishing outside of the top 6 for a complete rookie manager is beyond me. It's bizarre. Now they're out of Europe, so kiss goodbye to that income. All they've done is made it that much harder for Artetas replacement.
There’s a guy at work who is almost as bad as Ty, but even he before the Villarreal game was pessimistic. This was the same guy who argued “I reckon we will still finish top 8” a month or so ago, as if it was a badge of honour.
Arsenal fans before every season are confident they will get top 4, Auba, Laca, Saka, Pepe blah blah blah. Then they dont and say how crap their squad is, Owner and manager are terrible and repeat.

They'll be 15th if they don't back Arteta and let him bring in some good players, even then I think they'll struggle to make top top 6.
31 of them were after the Chelsea game at Xmas as well, we only scored 14 goals the first 14 games!

I think Arsenal aren't a team that should be 9th, the only thing is, do any top managers fancy Arsenal? Probably not. Maybe Graham Potter could be a good choice even if I don't completely rate him.

I don't know to be honest, as our form from Xmas hasn't actually been that bad. We're only 3 points behind you guys (although you've played a game less), only scored a goal less & you scored 9 in 1 game!
Don't get me wrong, we've still had some poor results, but it's our pre Xmas form that's really anchored us in midtable. I suppose you could argue a new manager might have had us more favourable results at home to the likes of Palace, Fulham, Everton but if we win those you're talking about Tuchel Chelsea form since Xmas & think we would all agree that would be a bit of a false picture to paint.
I think you absolutely massively overrate your post xmas form.
You always go on about it and it's really nothing special.
Oh, your mistaking me if you think I'm saying that. City's form is special. Tuchels Chelsea form is pretty great too. Our form is just back with the rest of the chasing pack, so nothing special at all, but a lot better than our disaster of the pre Xmas form.

Actually, fans from other clubs and pundits also get caught up in Arsenal fans' beginning of the season enthusiasm everrrry season. Just check at the top 4/top 6 predictions from the last few seasons both from pundits and in redcafe.

Yeah mainly because they won the FA Cup and mostly everyone got giddy because he was Peps assistant. I didn't think they would finish this low but i never thought they would get top four.
