"I don't think we shall be short of offers for Miguel Veloso. When you consider the teams that are reported to be interested in him, I'm sure we will lose him."

I don't see why we need him or where he is going to play - Carrick, Hargo, Fletch, Anderson are already there

Doubt it would be wise to spend 10mil pounds for a 5th central midfielder

Maybe Carrick is leaving this summer - I would hate to see him go, think he's done quite well since coming and improved with every game

Judging by tonight's performance Fletcher's days at OT may well be numbered. Not really fair when you consider he's not a regular player and can't be expected to be in great run of form. He'll put in a superb performance or two once a season but is that enough? Tonight was his chance to show SAF just how valuable he can be but he failed. Was virtually non-existent. I like the lad but for his own career he might be better off at a lesser club.

I think Fletch is happy not being an automatic selection, he's not in Veloso's class, but still does a job for us more often than not

I don't think Veloso will be too keen on not playing too many games, I'd rate at least Hargo, Carrick, Scholes above him

That leaves Anderson whom we also spent a shit load on this summer

He looked good today but noting special. He wouldn't get into our team.WWe don't need him.

what? carrick leaving? no way, he's only come last year, SAf isn't going to sell him after 1 good season. if anything, he'll sell fletcher to get rid of dead weight. scholes will retire in a few years, so we'll have veloso, hargreaves, carrick, anderson which is adequate. OR, maybe SAF is considering playing 3 midfielders in the future, and if this is the case, 5 midfielders is not too much.

Carrick wont leave for sure.

I don't think we will have any buyers for him anyways.

If we need a new keeper, we should definitely get him. Great work handling the ball.

We've got Harg as our defensive midfield enforcer and this veloso looks like he'd be a good foil because to be honest none of the other CM's are your blood and guts, roll your sleaves up players. Sadly since keane's departure we've not really replaced, hence Gatuso would have been a good signing if he'd have come because you wouldn't have had the likes of Davies taking the piss the other day.

Didn't look that good last night.Maybe Veloso is just a smokescreen.

He looked a very technically proficient player. Likes to dictate the play from deep. Got one good long range shot off.

From what I saw though, he wouldn't really add anything new to the mixer.

United in chase for £20M Veloso
28/11/2007

Manchester United assistant boss Carlos Queiroz has admitted that bringing Sporting Lisbon wonder-kid Miguel Veloso to Old Trafford has become a "priority".

Portuguese midfield starlet Veloso, 21, is on United's wanted list - but Real Madrid, Arsenal and Inter Milan are all monitoring him closely.

Queiroz says Veloso is among the top young players in the world, and United are considering making a move even though Sporting have stuck a £20million price tag on his head.

"It is impossible to ignore good players and we are following the evolution of some top players," said Queiroz.

"One is Veloso. He would be hard to ignore.

"Big clubs such as Manchester United, Barcelona and Arsenal have a scouting system that looks at players throughout the year.

"Players like Miguel Veloso, Joao Moutinho, Ricardo Quaresma, Bosingwa or Bruno Alves are on the list,

"We have good midfield players like Scholes, Carrick, Hargreaves and Anderson.

"But it is true that if someone was to leave the club then Veloso would be a priority.

He's a very classy player and alone can improve by coming to us!! It would probably mean Fletcher moving to a club more suited to his level like Villa, but so what.....

It does seem pointless, but as much as i hate to say it Fletch was shite last night, running about like a headless chicken. I can see him going to Bolton or somewhere. Scholes seems like he is going to be doing the giggs and making cameos.

On another note how bad was Nani last night, did nothing at all.

20 mil pounds for Veloso?:wenger:

We could buy any other top def mids with that money.

Sporting Lisbon chairman angry with Man Utd's Queiroz over Veloso comments

Sporting Lisbon chairman Soares Franco has hit out at Manchester United assistant boss Carlos Queiroz for confirming their interest in Miguel Veloso before last night's 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

"It was ethically highly reprehensible," said Franco. "I was disappointed that Carlos Queiroz would talk directly about Miguel Veloso. He should know the player is fully dedicated to Sporting and will remain our player."

"But it is true that if someone was to leave the club then Veloso would be a priority.

Seems to me Sir and Queiroz might have a few things figured out already. If so then Fletch or O'shea would be the logical choice to make way for Veloso. However - if we still want Berbatov and Spurs want Carrick back, then I guess a swap and some cash their way might be possible too.

Elliott - Muppet and proud of it.

Haha, We wont sell Carrick. Oshea just signed a deal.
If we are gonna sell anyone its probably Fletcher.

And yes you are a muppet

1. Not 100% sure about that, if we go for Berbatov. Can't see it happening in Januray mind, and I hope you're right.
2. Good point, my bad. Even though there are loads of examples of players being sold shortly after signing a contract extension.
3. Probably.
4. ..and proud of it.

:wenger:

He's clearly a good player. It's not his fault he's got around 4 players above him in the pecking order.

There above him because there better!! His getting on abit (In terms of being a squad player for the rest of his life). Career wise his better off getting regular 1st team football now!!

I agree with that but about him just being in the squad because he's Scottish, is just alot of garbage.
