it must be killing you to see that messi won again la liga, with his goal, while ronaldo, your love, scored a useless hatrick

Not really, I mock both of them. I wish Athletico or some other club would win so the league is interesting. Messi is obviously the better player. That doesn't make him a good person or generous teammate though. My affection for Ronaldo is gone.

The drugs thing is a pathetic bit of slander.

He took (or still takes through therapeutic use exemption?) HGH which has all kinds of beneficial effects on athletic performance and recovery. The temptation to abuse that must have been great, right? Almost as tempting as keeping all that money :) I am highly suspect of an athlete who matured at such a young age, shows great durability, and performs at the peak of his profession with absurd statistics.

Nobody really wants to know the truth about Messi, it's easier to believe he is the squeeky clean goldenboy everyone wants him to be. But I know a little bitch when I see one, and he is a little bitch.

He was given growth hormones to bring his levels to that of a normal person. It's a ridiculous bit of slander. I wish you were in the media and prepared to air your ill informed opinions because it's the type of thing that would end up with you in a court paying through the ass

You not curious about Ronaldo? From skinny teen to finely tuned athlete who relies on pace and stamina? Fair chance he's a drug cheat no?

And little bitch? Christ are you 14?

I think Ronaldo took/takes steroids. I've said it before on here, took plenty of abuse for it.

I've lost track of all the superstar/hero athletes we've had here in the US get busted for all types of drugs. I actually believed in Lance Armstrong for a long time.

Sadly the Lance Armstrong thing has cast major doubt over all athletes for many people. I can understand it to an extent.

Pretty much sums it up.
To be fair I always wonder 50 years from now would people still remember Ronaldo being a great poacher only (as in his recent year) or as great player (overall career). I mean, he does have plenty of clips showing all his fancy skills and great goals from earlier years, which is as good as any great players in the past (ie Cruyff, Best etc)

Him being the best player is should matter the most to people because when it comes to the rest ,players are just human with their faults and their imperfections. I for one don't care what happens off the field (if this or that player makes a huge donation or not).

Looks like some people are very angry in this thread like this guy. Relax :)

Didn't want to derail Leo's thread so.

 Ronaldo fanboi alert
Do you live in some parallel universe, where the world is divided into two groups - Ronaldo fanbois who are Messi haters and Messi fanbois who are Ronaldo haters - and both have nothing to do better than to downplay one to big up the other? Much as I love and worship Messi and Cristiano, some of their fans are embarrassing to say the least. Grow up.

Messi is hardly a physically impressive specimen nor is his physical numbers that impressive.

That are loads and loads and loads of players who best messi in physical performance.

Watch him play and it's obvious it isn't drugs fuelling his numbers.

Well let's look at his points:

Greed/cheating - charged with tax evasion, court case pending
Diving - Notorious serial diver, see:

The drugs - refuses to confirm that he is no longer using HGH, if so presumably his use of the PED is unregulated
Big headedness - this is a personal opinion that I agree with

I thought you are just great in CE forum.

Sadly the Lance Armstrong thing has cast major doubt over all athletes for many people. I can understand it to an extent.

There is tremendous naivete about PED's I think. I think if you polled a large number of fans and asked them how prevalent PED's in the sport were, they'd say not very prevalent. I'd say "I think you'd be surprised".

There is a sort of archaic idea that steroids are just about getting yolked up. Lance is a perfect example of how this isn't true. I would guess that a HUGE number of top tier footballers are taking PED's. From HGH to steroids. Why? It isn't just about the athletic performance, but it is also about the recovery time.

I'm 35 now, I am in better shape now in terms of cardio than I was when I was in my athletic prime around 20-21 playing American Football. That being said, when I was 15, 16, 17, right on through until I packed it in, the idea of training multiple times per day was nothing. Playing in a HS basketball tournament with 2 games in a day, or 5 games in 3 days? No big deal, could have played more! Now? As a 35 year old, it sounds like absolute horror, I'd need days between games just to feel like I could walk properly!

Now, if I was on the right kind of gear, and taking HGH, I'd feel like I was 17-20 years old again. My recovery time would be hours, not days. With how much money is on the line, and how far ahead masking is of controls, you'd have to be foolish to think plenty are not taking at least GH which I am am almost positive is not even tested for.

Crazy language to use on here, fair play to you if you get away with it!

Just out of interest, do you also view Maradona as a 'little bitch'? Or Scholes? Pele?

Learn to follow threads. When someone randomly claims players are drug cheats out of pure wumming i.e posts retarded things, I'll call them out. He followed that up with claiming ronaldo took performance enhancing drugs. That would have deserved similar mocking. Luckily he's gotten thread banned for a bit before I could laughed at that one. You can defend him all you want if that's your standard of discourse.

On the contrary it has nothing to do with what he posted. I know what he posted is rubbish and doesn't warrant discussion but this isn't the first time I've seen you or some others coming with such silly posts just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion. I know you think Messi is the greatest player ever or close to being that, so do I, but if someone doesn't agree with that and his own opinion, he's not necessarily a "ronaldo fanboi lol" and what not. To each his own anyway, but I hope people who constantly bring down the level of discussion by branding people as "fanbois" and "haters" and what not are in the minority in this forum.

Nice backtracking there. Next time do notice the people who are posting nonsense rather than randomly aiming your criticism. He's the one who got thread banned and rightfully so, and most people found him a bit strange. The whole "this isn't the first time.." doesn't really look too good when your current argument holds no water. I pretty much always argue with reason unless there's genuinely someone whose on a windup or agenda posting. That merits a bit of mocking IMO because it ruins the level of discourse.

Look buddy, you know what you have said in the past, there's no point in trying to dodge it. The reason these MessivRonaldo crap is at the stage it is today is simply because most here seem to treat it as some sort of divide where you can only respect one and not the other, and all you lot do is constantly mock each other with the same old lame digs over and over again. Anyway, I don't spend anywhere as much time as some of you do in these corners, so I don't know how important it is for one to prove his favourite player is better than all others, and for how many years, so I'm probably just going to leave my 2p here. It is pretty obvious who is responsible for what.

Read my last few posts in the ronaldo thread. It's nice of you to post generic content but it looks pretty lame when badly aimed.

Re: the last bit. It is. The guy who got banned for wumming wumming away and getting laughed at for it, and you finding that objectionable and reason enough for having a random rant.

Despite specifically typing down the words that it has nothing to do with that guy's post...

See ya man. Enjoy.
Do check out the other thread on your way out. Might give some clarity.

Ronaldo will fade from memory - these will just be the Messi years.

Nah. That could have happened, had he stayed here, but by going to Spain and adding the Real/Barca rivalry to the story he's made sure he'll be remembered as 'that guy who wasn't quite as good as Messi'.

Omar Sivori says 'who he?'
I googled. Behave.
Terrible way to be remembered from his perspective.
Probably, though I think that's more down to Ronaldo being more than a touch obsessive about status. In reality it's a hell of an achievement to have been regularly talked about as a realistic rival to a guy who a fair few call the best there has ever been.

Would make a wicked film akin to Rush actually

There's really no need for a playoff and there's nothing to settle.

There is nothing to settle when it comes to who actually is better overall. But if anyone thinks this era will only be remembered for messi is off the mark. These staggering statistics will be always part of any football discussion for years and years. I remember the graph someone posted in one of the threads which shows how fecking far ahead these two are in terms of quantifiable end product in the last decade or so.

Absolutely. The likes of Giggs , Henry and Kaka will be remembered big time so of course Ronaldo will.

Pete was just wumming.

I know. But there are others who might genuinely believe that. I mean in a world where people find dumb ways to downplay the genius of messi, i am sure there are many who thinks the same about Ronaldo.
