Can't blame Messi for this just like you can't blame Ronaldo for the Ajax loss, which people unfairly did. Both did their jobs and scored goals - there comes a time where you have to rely on more than just one man and the other players have to step up.

He could've lost 10 - 0 tonight and it wouldn't have changed a thingm Dunno about all time but he's the best of his generation and yes, it isn't close IMO :)
I see you've ignored the goal/min stats I provided that shows you faked the stats.

Messi goes missing again when it gets tough, that's why he's not the GOAT.

Oh boy I wonder how the poll would be now. Don’t worry boys !! Next week Messi will score a hat trick bs Girona and it will open again so don’t worry

People on this forum are mental, one game can decide their opinion on a player. One bloody game. He didn't even play badly, anyone with a brain can see it was not Messi who put Liverpool through.

Enough with this "Ronaldo would never let this happen" pish. He has done in the past. Simply because football is an 11-a-side sport. End of story.
It's not just one game though, he's been cowering away in big games for a long time now.

Any rational and objective individual viewing that game would not come to your conclusion. In your world, a player has to singlehanded create every chance and score every goal for them to not be a bottlejob when their teammates underperformed.
Well when he's the common factor when it's Argentina AND Barca that bottles you have to wonder. He is also supposed to be THAT player that's why he's considered the greatest. You have to show up or shut up.

When did a Ronaldo side bottle a 3 goal lead in the CL?

You get a lot of hate on her for simply saying the truth! So fecking enjoy the bitterness because Messi is not even the best in his generation because that accolade belongs to Ronaldo.

I didn't want to believe it when I saw it, but at some point, the mental football has to go through the window, and you just have to put all your heart in something.

He took the ball 3 times in the last 10 minutes and almost dribbled the whole Liverpool team? okay, but he also lost a couple balls that were within reach and never made an effort to get it back (except the last one vs Fabinho), anyone could see how bad we were playing and that earning 5 meters on Pool's half was impossible for anyone bar Leo, when you have a chance to get it back in the rival area, at least look like you're trying!

This is not something we didn't know, did we? Messi covers least distance in Barca side, he's developed his game that way as he's gotten older. You can see the same pattern in almost all of 2nd leg KO ties in last few seasons. His head drops as tide turns against his time, it doesn't often happen to Barca. But it is so evident, every single one of your players get affected. Messi being no exception.

If I were a Barca fan I'd be far more disappointed in rest of the team, they simply didn't look like wanting to run even when it was looking inevitable they were going to get KO'ed!

Awlays baffles me how there seems to be more Messi loving United fans than Ronaldo ones on this forum. Did we not see the man win 3 leagues in a row and our last CL? Probably our last Ballon D'or for a long while?

I don't really care about a stupid poll but it's really petty to open it when Messi does well and close it when he doesn't, especially given the fact that Ronaldo's older and unlikely to have seasons where he won 3 CL's in a row again. And in 10 years time idiots will be like 'but look at the poll it's clearly Messi'

Right, open the poll after he scores 2 against us and then close it when he goes predictably missing away from home in a match that counts. Ironic.
I really dont give a feck about either him or ronaldo but it really just shows you WANT one to "win" this poll over the other. The fact of the matter is if im playing the likes of Stoke and Deportivo la caruna then im picking messi on my team, but if i want to play a team thats actually good then im picking ronaldo every single day of the week if im the coach. This guys a bottler

I'm on a tradefair man, only have my smartphone at hand ;)

Barça wins = open poll
Barça loses = closes poll

really fair this. hahaha
One poster was begging him to close the thread while the game was still 1-0 because he knew what would happen  even he did not trust Messi.

I don't care what the polls say I'll make my own mind up. When he's played in another league and prove himself to adapt the way Ronaldo does then he'll get my vote.

If Ronaldo is so much better then why isn't he in the semi finals too?
Because he won the past fecking THREE CL in a row!? He was bound to lose again. Come back to me when Messi winds 2 in a row let alone 3.

Oh, I'm super disappointed in all the team, Valverde and Alba (again, like everytime we go out in the UCL) are the main culprits for another embarassing display.

But Messi isn't immune to criticism, he showed more teeth in the first leg, the game vs OL and so on, we know what we have with him. I don't expect him to pressure like Suarez, but watching him sulk and walk around as the castle crumbled around him... I thought this year he was determined to do everything on his hand to win the UCL, he said it himself, and in the last 10 minutes he did as much as he could with the ball, but football can also be played without it, and if there was 10 minutes where he could've gassed himself running in his career, it probably was tonight.

Where the fuk was he? Didn't touch the ball in the last 15 min. Ashley young atleast has the courage to pass the ball back to Dr Gea.

Messi the magician!

Disappearing when it matters most again !

Forever not a big game player

If Suarez scores that chance at 1-0, we'd all hail Messi a genius for another glorious pass.

He's their only dangerous player. Criticizing him would be silly. He's not a defender.

Ronnie is better lads. We don't need a redcafe poll to tell us that.

This thread is the most rawkish I've seen from the mods on the caf, ah well

This thread is hilarious. He layed 3 on a plate for his teammates. His teammates are such cowards all they do is look for him and hope he does it all.

Like I said. Intangibles, mental fortitude, “clutch” as much as you all hate that word, X factor, big game player ...what ever you want to call it It is just as valuable and important as talent and Ronaldo has it and Always has. Messi never had it he is mentally weak and not made for the big occasion. If you prefer pretty passes as dribbling good for you I prefer winning and I prefer a player will single handedly win me a tie. 1 goal down 2 goals down or 3 goals up makes no difference.
