Origi and the other guy both scored two goals and Messi didnt score any but hes the greatest player of all time trust me lo l
Valverde decisions were poor (subs far too reactive) but the team were too... all of them.I know this thread is mental at the best of times but how can he be blamed for that tonight? Their defence was a joke and much like the Roma game it was clear that Valverde's intent was to sit in and just see the game out. There's nothing you can do when your team is set up like that and the opposition are focusing solely on you. I don't care if you're Messi, Ronaldo, Maradona or Pele.
Salah Ballon d'Or 2019 almost a certainty now.
Closing the poll again is a brillaint wind up to be fair
Messi is just one Suarez or Alba not missing a sitter away from being good.
This forum is Biased towards Messi.
More respect for the best player of his generation please.Still was his best game this year
Why are you asking me for
Still was his best game this year
It was his best knockout performances since 2015. Shouldn't blame him for what happened this year, but this is not a one year failure. It's 4 years now with an investment that's never been seen before. Barcelona's wage bill is nearly double of any other team on the planet. Winning this year's Champions League would have been the biggest achievement of his career by a mile...
When Barcelona conceded the 2-1 vs Lyon I saw a different Messi, a proper captain lifting everyone's spirits up. Tonight's second half was the same Messi that appeared in Rome last year, head down, hands on hips, no initiative... and it's nothing new. It simply can't happen. They can lose the match, but they can't lose it like they lost tonight. That was pathetic.
After a 3-0 home win with Ajax/Spurs waiting in the final and Madrid winning the past 3 European Cups in a row, this simply can never happen. He's the superstar, arguably the best player ever, he's the guy who gave the speech at the start of the season in front a full Camp Nou promising the fans they'd do everything in their power to win the Champions League. He did not keep that promise tonight.
I still think the fact Barcelona funnel their attacks to go through Messi stops them from reaching their full potential as a team. It puts an amount of pressure on Messi to perform that is simply not necessary with the other players they have. Even with the structural problems, they should have won the Champions League regardless. You can talk about tactics, goals, a player's ability, mistakes, etc.. but in this competition a team's mentality is just as important as everything else and Barcelona simply don't have it. When there's such a big difference between a team's home and away form it's obvious that there are mentality problems. They didn't need Xavi, Iniesta or Neymar, they missed Puyol more than all of those in the past 2 years.
Well, one of the mod felt the need to go all RAWKish and decided to come close the poll instead of cheering Messi on in that final minute.
Exactly, Messi is great when his team is in control (Xaviesta era), but if you need him to turn a tie or rescue a game? He hides. The funny thing is this is not the first time this has happen.. he has done this many of times but it gets brushed off because Messi.
Imagine Ronaldo let two 3 goal leads go while Messi won 3 CL in a row imagine the state of this forum
Closing the poll again is a brillaint wind up to be fair

Sure.I'm not saying I disagree but can you provide some evidence to back it up?
Sure.
*Last week Messi scores 2 goals poll opened
*This week Messi chokes poll closed
* the excuse made in terms of anything Ronaldo has accomplished is worth nothing the moment Messi does something great.
* lastly if Messi won a 3 peat of CL and had a copa America to his name while Ronaldo choked two 3 goal leads and lost 4 finals in a row this thread would be closed by now. And you and everyone here knows that.
Like I said. Intangibles, mental fortitude, “clutch” as much as you all hate that word, X factor, big game player ...what ever you want to call it It is just as valuable and important as talent and Ronaldo has it and Always has. Messi never had it he is mentally weak and not made for the big occasion. If you prefer pretty passes as dribbling good for you I prefer winning and I prefer a player will single handedly win me a tie. 1 goal down 2 goals down or 3 goals up makes no difference.
One Saurez. One Alba. One Higuin. Poor Messi, everyone missing for him. What about when these players score for him? He had his chance to win it for Barca. He didn't. He bottled again.
Great (and maybe even arguably GOAT player) but let's not act like he doesn't have a weakness.
Your point? Also to the stats part Ronaldo was an out and out winger for his first 3 to 4 season in his career. Messi has always been a player to get into the box. After all those years people have watched both of them, there are still some who claim Ronaldo is a better all-around player.
When was the last season Ronaldo managed to consistently pick the ball in midfield or in the wings and dribble past players ? Probably 2009-10. Messi has been doing it for 15 years while scoring basically the same amount of goals with way less games played...
It's supposed to be funny?I thought it was an obvious wind up I’m surprised so many people actually cried about it
Course he does, the fecking walking around when they dont have the ball for one. How do his teammates put up with that shite. You're good we get it, doesnt mean you could put in a bit of effort too.One Saurez. One Alba. One Higuin. Poor Messi, everyone missing for him. What about when these players score for him? He had his chance to win it for Barca. He didn't. He bottled again.

Sure, nobody got that... What's not obvious is why are 12 year olds staffers here? I am sure that Troll Football cesspit still exists.I thought it was an obvious wind up I’m surprised so many people actually cried about it
I just find it hilarious last week Messi scores 2 goals and everyone here is having an orgy ....”poll reopened to truly decide who the best is”
*one week later Messi CHOKES AGAIN for more times then I can count on my hands
“Poll closed to avoid knee jerk reaction”

I’m not going back and forth with you. Its obvious to see in this forum it’s always been like that and the obvious evidence was today. Is there proof proof no ( I’m assuming that’s the answer you want) but it’s pretty easy to see. That's only 4 and 1 is a hypothetical, can you provide more evidence?
I’m sure it was that.A mod pulls a prank on the most meaningless poll ever conceived and people start acting like all their human rights have been stripped away from them. Can't you see that they did it just to get a reaction from you guys?
Unimaginable.Imagine Ronaldo crawling into his shell because Smalling gave him a little boo boo on his nose.
It doesn't matter, but it's just bad taste.Who cares? It's quite a funny WUM TBH. If you hadn't dedicated your life to defending Ronaldo on the internet, this wouldn't matter.

Great idea for mods to close the poll. Love the meltdown by some on here. Your most hated rivals have just got to the champions league final and all you want to do is to push the narrative that a player who couldn’t wait to get out of Utd is the goat
It's supposed to be funny?
It's so very obviously that. Some of the stars of this thread are just too invested to realize how much of a joke it is to the overwhelming majority.I’m sure it was that.
Oh cry me a river. As if Messi did not have the greatest team of all time for half of his career. Ask any true sports analyst and they will tell you how mental toughness is just as important as talent. The best player debate was put to bed in 2016.You call it clutch, i call it Ramos, Bale, Benzema and Karius saving CR7's ass time and time again. Oh and also Real Madrid not conceding a shitton of goals while still expecting CR7 to solve it all.
CR7 "clutchness" its pretty much his teammates showing up time and time again on semis and finals, that doesnt make him a better player than Messi. If today Pique scores a 90'+ header to put Barcelona trough, doesnt make Messi better or worse.
They are the players the are and nothing can change that. Their teammates, team results, awards etc wont ever change that. Messi is a better football player, and this season alone has been 5 times the player CR7 has been, and nothing will change that. CR7 has had his clutch moments yes just as he had too moments of completely dissapearing from the game and his team winning the game for him.
