Right, it's the mythical eye test.Generalisation now, Trump would be proud of you I did never credit Messi credit for those titles and nor did I ever give two fecks about the Ballon D'Or.

So AVB and his team know better than the football world. You think Messi being better than peak Ronaldinho at 19 according to AVB and his professional Chelsea scouts means nothing because peak Ronaldinho wasn’t that good anyway
I don’t know when you created your account but I would love to see your posts from 2005, pretty sure you considered Ronaldinho the unrivalled best player in the world then too.
Meanwhile Ronaldo was doing stepovers and losing the ball a lot while being older than Messi
Right, it's the mythical eye test.
See, that's why people call you Trump. 15 years ago Messi was 15/16 (!). I don't care enough to look up the posituons but who reached a better position outside of the top 10 or whatever is even more irrelevant than who won this stupid prize. What's the point of such stupid populistic attempts? There's no election for you to win here.
Moreover, it doesn't go to the best player but to the best/most popular player of the team that won the biggest trophy. And since I know what's coming: No, I'm not saying that just because Cristiano could up with Messi in the last years. I'm hating on the Ballon D'Or ever since Cannavaro won that joke of an award ahead of Ronaldinho.
Because one is their prodigal son who came thru their youth academy and the other was an outsider who never got as much love for that reason.
What it should show you is that the guy who won you 3 CL In a row leaves and you get knocked out in the first round while he potentially is on the way to another semi final.
Well, thats on Real Madrid. You sell a top 10 player of all time, and you replace him with some random 18 y/o brazilian kid with absolutely no end product, then you expect a player that has played as a support striker for CR7 his entire career at Madrid to suddenly become a 50+ goals/season world class striker. Of course you are going to struggle.
And the reasons why Real Madrid got rid of Ronaldo are irrelevant, they fall out, CR7 asked more money, Madrid did this, CR7 did that, yadda yadda. End of the day they got rid of him for 100M to a direct CL competitor.
And at people arguing about the balon de or, please stop. Thats exactly the reason why this thread is 400+ pages long, CR7 fans arguing about things like that since day 1, the kind of arguments they have to resort to. Last season Messi wasnt having a worse season than this one at this point (AKA GOATLY) and he came on 5th on the voting, enough said.
If Messi wins then only it goes to best player right ?
You lot were boasting
4-1 and since it’s 5-5 ,all of sudden ballon d or is meaningless now.

Hopefully he's as successful in the CL as he was last season.Well, thats on Real Madrid. CR7 fans arguing about things like that. Has spent god know how long arguing that ronaldo isn't a goal because he was sold for 100m which has never happened in the past.
That is why Barca bend over backwards to accommodate Messi's every wimp.Indeed. It's easy for the Ronaldo fans to simply point at Real Madrid and say "look what happens without Ronaldo!" There are far more factors at play, like for instance the change of manager, team getting worn out, lack of hunger, star players getting older etc etc. I mean, Marcelo was benched for poor performance, how is this due to Ronaldo's departure?
Not to mention the fact that Madrid overachieved anyway.
On the one hand I can understand what the others are saying, Ronaldo going for 100M at 33 is great, but this is not GOAT level. In my opinion, you don't sell the GOAT. Whatever the reason may be, status, image, gratitude, whatever. Ronaldo fans spin it like this: "Ronaldo fell out with Florentino, he got a record transfer fee for a 33-y-old, which is phenomenal."
How about spinning it like this: "Ronaldo fell out with Florentino because Madrid wouldn't give him the salary and contract duration he wanted, as they didn't think he was worth it. Juventus bought him as part of a larger marketing scheme (see the logo change) in an effort to boost their image and make as much money as possible. CR is a PR move rather than a football transfer."
Crazy, right?
And I like it when the Ronaldo fans say "you lot talked about the Ballon d'Or when it was 4-1, now it's 5-5." Who talked about it? It was 4-1 in 2012 or something, who was talking about this then? How old is this thread? How long have I been here?
He isnt the GOAT because he simply isnt the best player of all time, not because Madrid sold him . Do not confuse the cause with the consequence.
In all seriousness, i respect CR7 a lot. I consider him to be a top 5 of all time and TBH, when people compare him to Ronaldinho/Luis Ronaldo or even say they were better, i consider it as ridiculous as when people say he is equal to Messi or better. He's a faster, more clinical Van Basten with better dribbling for christs sake, the man is a legend.
Just not the GOAT.

This season has proven how wrong Perez is.
The point is he can't be replaced.I believe Barça bending over backwards is right. You take into account the quality of the player and take it from there. For instance, we should have bent over backwards for Ronaldo Fenomeno, but we didn't.
This season has indeed proven that Florentino was wrong (obviously). You just equate that with Ronaldo's departure, which isn't the full story. Other things should have been done. It would have been interesting to see Madrid with a proper Ronaldo replacement.
Best player on the pitch again, as usual, according to the all important eye test.I have to say messi certainly passed the eye test this evening.
That wasn't an assist, it counted as an OG.Apart from the assist & a handful of passes, yeah, it was far from his best performance. Barcelona as a whole were pretty shocking, with their best player probably being Pique.
Apprently even when he doesn't score he dominates the game, just goes to show how much they exaggerate.I have to say messi certainly passed the eye test this evening.

According to that lot, anything that happens without the ball counts for nothing.I mean, technically sure
Ronaldo's goal was class. His runs are great.

Been the best cb along with van Dijk this season from what I've seen.Pique was immense, handled both rashford(pace) and lukaku(strength) with ease.
Showed his experience, he's under rated in drafts too.Pique was immense, handled both rashford(pace) and lukaku(strength) with ease.
Knockout CL game:
Ronaldo - crucial away goal for his team after being injured
Messi - horrible game and contributed nothing
Ronaldo > Messi. Again and again and again and again!
Except for the fact Suarez didn't score, Shaw did. But feel free to make up stuff as you go along.Well Messi a great pass to Suarez to score. That's the "contributed nothing" Messi's standard

Contributed nothing? He's the main reason they got the goal. He had a terrible game but they won away from home 1-0 due to his cross....a job badly done, but done nevertheless.

A deflected goal? yeah okay..
