Not a single technical attribute that he excels at. 60 mill for him to run around a bit and barely touch the ball. Most of the fans knew this before he signed too, but sadly, not our dead beat recruitment team. Pathetic signing.
It might’ve stung a little less had we waited until the summer to sign him for free (no other team wanted him) - but the fact we stumped up £60 million allowing Chelsea to put it towards Cole Palmer (who cost less) is absolutely sickening. I bet they were laughing all the way to the bank.

What a waste of money.

Mount is one of those players the other players and managers see the benefit that he brings to the team but fans don’t.

Carrick was the same sort of player, deserves to be spoken of in the same vein as Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes but isn’t.

This is one of the funniest things I've read on the CAF. Thank you. After that defeat I needed a proper laugh.

Mount has been less effective for us than Tom Cleverley and Darron Gibson.

Lets be honest for a second: Has Mount actually contributed that much more than say Jadon Sancho did? Effort is always there but in terms of effectiveness. £55 million. What were we thinking?

Everyone knew he was going to be an awful signing considering he didnt fit the team, he was going to be out of contract and the cost and wages of the transfer.

I had some hope that with the new system under Amorim he could fit as one of the 10s but he completely useless. It's like he's not even playing, the new Van de Beek.

I know it's going to be hard but we should try to get rid of him if we can find anyone stupid enough to offer anywhere between 15-20M for him would be great.

60 mill and only looked capable in a few pre-season games when the tempo has been pure garbage. This club is beyond a fecking joke.

Offers nothing , he doesn't score, he doesn't assist, he doesn't make key passes, hardly gets in to the box, doesn't really tackle, his set pieces are average at best .. Plays safe passes and just runs around.

That is really insulting to the player who was our midfield fulcrum while we won 5 titles and made 3 CL finals. Mount is just decent, tidy but with no real top class attributes.

What benefits are these exactly? I get where you're coming from, but Mount is an attacking player. There has to be some discernible attacking benefit we can see that he brings to the team.

Instead, we haven't scored a single goal this season whilst he's been on the pitch.

At least Lingard scored some important goals and was one of our own. This guy cost 55m & is paid a king's ransom.

In competition with Antony to be ETH's worst signing. Actually his overall cost may be higher than Antony by the end.

Unless we get 25m for him in the summer then I think he will go down as the worst transfer in our history (just above Sancho). At least Antony has scored some important goals vs Liverpool, Arsenal and Barca.

Just nothing again really, albeit with only a small amount of time. I saw at the beginning of the season we looked a better pressing team with him in it but you can't have one player whose sole attribute is that they press well. He just doesn't seem to ever affect any games ON the ball.

Assess at the end of the season but for now, this has been another horrendous signing on so many levels.

A decent support player but not the guy to take responsibility in a game where he'll look for the ball to do something with it. Can replace him with a loads random hard working players and we'd see no loss. Not sure if we'll manage to sell him but surely he won't last long here

Lingard-Donny-Sabitzer-Mount

The first being the best of them is a painful thought.

Getting shades of Hazard as a Chelsea fan with this situation. We were able to milk Real Madrid for £100m+ for Hazard with 1 year left on his deal and then he went on to do almost nothing there. Here, we got £60m for Mount who was also in the final year of his contract and he has gone on to do nothing.

Jesus! Don't rub it in. We are mourning.

It's a lot worse. Hazard was a great player. I've never rated Mount, myself.

It was bad enough watching him for England. It's even worse watching him at United knowing we actually spent money on him.

In an alternate universe, Liverpool signed him while we signed Mac Alister. Unfortunately, Liverpool, unlike us, are not stupid enough to pay the silly money that Chelsea wanted.

We just signed the Chelsea version of Lingard.

You couldn't imagine he'd be this ineffectual?

I just looked, it's 1 goal and 1 assist in 31 games for us, and something like 13 starts. Struggled massively with injuries granted, but we have had some bad transfers over the years. I hope it changes for him, I really do.

1 goal and 1 assist in 31 games over 2 seasons. No one can actually describe what type of player he actually is. We have made some shocking decisions when it comes to transfers.

You're only just getting shades that he's not going to do anything?

Mount was the heartbeat of our team and was incredible for about a 2 year period. First name on the team sheet sort of level.

I thought the change of scenery would be positive for him. I was never devastated that we let him go because he was already not even in our team for quite a while by the end. In fact, I was more weary about us selling Havertz to Arsenal and him coming back to haunt us than I was Mase.

That he has fallen all the way down to this level is kind of insane as someone who watched him every minute he played in a Chelsea shirt. From being instrumental in a Champions League winning run to being basically useless now. Yes, he has had niggling injuries but not the kind that completely alters or destroys a career. But that’s what he looks like now. It doesn’t make sense.

Seems incapable of actually leaving his mark on games.
A good player as a cog in a well oiled machine perhaps

That's all well and good. I've always thought he was rubbish regardless. We finally get him out of the England starting 11 and then my team goes and buys him!

Just needs to do more. He doesn't stamp his authority on the game anywhere near enough.

Does he have it in him? Honest question. I did not watch Chelsea when he was there. However, I have never seen Mount run a game.

That's not an attack on him. Not every player needs to be that. From what I saw of them, under Tuchel he was very effective as part of a tight, transition based game. If we were going in that way I could see not just a role but a big role for Mount. But that's not really what we're doing.

We are pressing and Mount is good at that. However, the rest..?

I've never really got him as a player, even when things were going well for him at Chelsea. I've always wanted to see it with him, but haven't. I've seen some tiny sparks from him for us, but it's never gone further than that, still time for it to I guess. He's a puzzling player to me.

He must have something.

When I first heard we were interested in him, i thought Naaah this is his agent trying to milk other clubs, then we made an offer I was shocked.

Carrick was a vastly superior player. Horrible comparison.

Jesus christ, what a car crash of a post.

This is where nuance comes into play, not ONCE did I say that Mount was a better player than Carrick. I didn’t even imply it. Good lord. Read again.

I still think we could get £20-30m out of him. Cut our losses and move on.

If that is what RA thinks then I go along with that.
But to be fair, we ought not to pass judgement until MM has been given a run of games. Which up to now, he has not because of his injuries.
