Shame. Felt he had improved a lot in the past few games. Was awful today but I guess that was to be expected. While I don't think he head butted Aguero he was stupid to first of all confront him, and then worst of all put his head down towards him. He got conned but he is the one to blame.

This is brilliant. He plays a few very good games and this thread barely moves. A bullshit red card and this thread is on fire. This thread is ridiculous.

It wasn't a straight red cause Aguero conned the ref, but nonetheless it should have been a second yellow in space of what, like 15 seconds?! Absolutely fabulous composure.
Even ignoring his last meaningful contribution of the night he's a number 10 coming directly from hell so maybe in the end he fits in the Red Devils team like a glove.

Before he got sent off he was fecking awful, it's no good having a player that is so techncially and athletically crap, he was the one closest to the 3 forwards and couldn't run the ball out or find a pass for love nor money, he's never been good enough to be here and I don't care about his little clique on here that think he offers something, he doesn't offer nearly enough for what he detracts.

As for the red, it was a red, yes Aguero is a diving cnut but you can't do what Fellaini did and he made an already hard task even harder with his lack of discipline.

If Fellaini was awful everyone else in our midfield and attack was awful too. Fair enough he has been stupid tonight but he was as good as anyone else in our midfield today until the sending off.

Looking back at it, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Fellaini was stupid to try it but it wasn't like he wanted to smash Aguero's head in. Aguero was just being an utter cnut as always.

Can't disagree with the second part, although it's very generous to Aguero saying that was a headbutt. A pathetic reaction. If he was going off he should've done it properly.
Absolutley, after the dying swan routine i would have had a little kick at the bitch as well

Did you watch the game tonight? Yeah he got a red card, but he had a really good game.
What does he do that's really good? I mean compared with proper midfielders who are actually good. Is his passing really good? His movement? His tackling? His pace? His dribbling? His shooting? His creativity?

He really didn't though, that's the point. Every time he wins a couple of balls and keeps it simple people pretend he did really well. The bar is so much lower for him than anyone else.

He gets praised for the sort of limited performances that Schneiderlin got binned for.

In some games we need a player to do jobs like Fellaini did tonight. It's not very exciting to watch and it looks kind of shit, but it's important.

No he wasn't, his job was the one in behind the 3 attackers and time after time he failed to find a pass or break away with the ball to support them, he didn't do his job so no, he wasn't as good as Carrick or Herrera who did what they were tasked with.

He is so mediocre on the ball. There was a chance where he could have played rashford through on goal but played a sidewards ball to martial, who was marked by two players instead. Horribly mediocre.

He looked lost in between city players at time. Crap on the ball. Massive liability too.

Get.Rid.

This is true in certain ways. But I'd rather have someone who can actually contribute more doing what Fellaini did tonight. Just so we have a bit of something extra to win games with.

No you don't, there are players all over Europe that can do the limited shit he did tonight but actually run with or pass the ball effectively, he was the one in behind the forwards, it was his job to get the ball through to them and support them and he did neither. There are dozens of players we could get that does what he does but with actual footballing ability to go with it.

What game did you watch? He was horrible.

You havent watch enough mourinho. This was what mourinho wanted, the classical parked bus. Every player did their job, fellaini included. We couldnt quite release our quick players and city didnt make any mistakes but until the 80th minute we were doing well. Very rarely were we in any danger and you just need one city mistake and we get a goal.

And this is pefectly fine and well imo, exactly why I think we should get Fabinho.

I don't know why you want to argue the minutiae of it.

I don't mind Fellaini, and see his strengths, so i'm not one of these ranters, but that was ridiculous. Of course it wasn't so hard it'd kill him, but you've seen red cards for way less than that.

Answer me this, do you think there's even 1% of getting that rescinded?

No it won't be getting rescinded. I'm disputing the minutiae of it because there are people on here and pundits talking as hes run up to someone and full on headbutted them full pelt and Aguero is the innocent victim of it, which is complete nonsense.

He is good at breaking up play and a great target man... that's all. If we are serious about winning top trophies then we will have to let him go and replace him with a better all round CM/DM.
He is reactive, doesn't have the most intelligent football brain and this makes him a target. He could have cost us again!!

Absolutely shocking stupidity!!

Didn't think he played well and his red was both stupid and deserved but.....

The notion that him being banned for three games is good news is nonsense. We need every fit player we can get our hands on atm.

He lost his head. The fact people will still defend him is absolutely insane.
Agreed. He's been completely done.

In the past few games he's managed not to embarrass himself or harm the team. He's not set a particularly high bar.

It was Aguero that head butted Fellaini. How is this not being seen by the pundits? It's blatant.

On a side note, I thought Fellaini played well tonight, and I also think we'll miss him in the league.

I'm not one for lynch mobs, but if anybody else is saddling up I have a rope I desperately want to use on that shitty toilet brush-looking waste of space.

100% this.

As long as we have Fellaini in the team we'll keep playing the sort of spineless football we saw tonight, as we can't seriously hope to take on the best teams.

It was an absolutely ridiculous minute from Fellaini, I think we can all agree :-)

It's a shame none of our other players, and there were lots close by, didn't read the situation and get between the two.

However, if I can sleep now with all the adrenaline, we can be glad of a point gained, and it's back on for top 4.

Roll on Swansea.

I rarely watch other leagues so I wouldn't know if he's any good but I sure hope Jose's planning an upgrade on Fellaini.

How do you know what he was tasked with, do you have a direct line to Mourinho? He was as good as both Carrick and Herrera defensively and yes he was poor linking the play on the counter but so was everyone else. Our midfielders were all equally crap.

That's fair. We could probably get someone who can do jobs like Fellaini and contribute with more creativity.

Same answer as above.

This.

He shouldn't give the ref an opportunity to show him off. He's silly to do that.

Aguero is 5ft 8inch. Fellaini is 6ft 4inch. The only way Aguero makes that happen on his own is if he has a stepladder.

How do you know what he was tasked with, do you have a direct line to Mourinho? He was as good as both Carrick and Herrera defensively and yes he was poor linking the play on the counter but so was everyone else. Our midfielders were all equally crap.

I don't need Jose on the batphone to see what his job was, he was the one constantly ahead of Herrera and Carrick with the job of supporting the front 3 and failed to do it on all levels, and no, the other two were better defensively as well, their tackling, reading and closing was comfortably better.

Except for bringing the balls down with his chest I don't see what Fellaini brings to the table that TFM couldn't at least match.

Stupid red card.

Given the comments in here, a lot of you should be happy not angry. The red card didn't affect the result, and he now won't be in the team for 3 games.

It's a loss, though I'm sure many will disagree.

1 or 3 match ban?

3 hopefully

That would be a great result for us. We weren't winning that anyway and his sending didn't cost us the draw. 3 match ban for him means another 3 games he can't cost us.
