Marcus Rashford (out)

Not necessarily, no. But I also think Rashford could be training better than 2013 Cristiano and it wouldn't change a damn thing, not while the window is open

If he's still at the club after the window closes and this talk of poor effort continues, that would lend it more credibility imo

Btw, the way Amorim phrased that answer was masterful media manipulation. He never actually said Rashford is showing poor effort in training now, did he? Think about it

I believe ETH also never said it directly about Sancho either

Didn't he?

No matter. What I'm saying is I believe Rashford isn't playing because the club is trying to force him out. Whether he's also showing poor effort in training or not is secondary

Prediction: Marcus goes nowhere, he slowly reintegrates with the squad, and makes a full admission that his application has not been good enough. He and Amorim get along, and Rashford reinvents himself as a #9. Lord knows the position is available, and throughout his time here he’s demonstrated he has the talent to play the role (remember that season where he started being amazing at headers)

he just has to want it. I have a funny feeling he’s gonna make changes in his personal life that lead to a more committed player on the field.

lol

Mate you must've lit up an optimistic blunt.

Have you not considered they want to force him out because of his poor effort?

I'll have whatever you're smoking. Thanks.

Can’t see him in Saudi, likes a night out too much if the reports are to be believed

You jest but with the way our strikers are playing it might actually end up happening at some point if the move doesn’t materialise :(. It would depend on some grovelling apologies and serious application from Rashford though.

I don't get some people in this thread. Are they accusing Amorim of lying?

If he's lying that's understandable

I don't know if he's lying. All I know is that these are serious accusations being levelled at Rashford, that reduce his value in the market, especially if he is as good as exiled from the squad. Some more clarity on how exactly he is falling short would be nice.

His value in the market is 0 and it has nothing to do with Amorim.

I think hes been clear enough, people just don't want to believe it. He isn't the only manager to say it either, and despite a lot of evidence during the past season, some people just don't want to accept/believe this of Rashford.

Are people seriously accusing Amorim of lying about Rashford not putting in the required effort in training when we've all seen his laziness on the pitch?

Manager has a track record of being honest, has a track record of making players improve their value, expressed the desire to have him challenge for playing in the team.

Player has a track record of not giving a f**k, has a track record of being lazy, has a track record of being called out by previous managers, expressed the desire to leave.

Logical conclusion: coach might be lying to put player out, who in the other hand, is working hard to be back on the team.

Sure...

Yes - but it's surely unrealistic to expect United to go into details.

Let's be real now - the problem isn't that he on average gives 75% in training rather than 100%

The problem is his overall commitment/attitude/professionalism.

(The Belfast thing is an obvious example here - but that, or anything similar, is obviously not something Amorim or anyone else at United can talk about on camera.)

Some new Barca links

Manchester United are in talks with Barcelona for the loan of Marcus Rashford, although there are doubts about the Catalan club's ability to reach a deal in time by Monday due to financial constraints. \[@Matt\_Law\_DT, @SamWallaceTel\] \#MUFC

Don’t know why Saudi league doesn’t appeal to him. He’ll get paid absolute fortune, he could live in a different country outside of SA and live the high life. The spot light will be off him massively and he can continue to play shite and be a lazy feck too. Win, win.

Dubai is only a couple of hours away by plane if that's the issue.

Night out in Riyadh ain't a problem either if you're rich and famous.

ETA Actually, a night out in Riyadh is a lot better for your reputation than a night out in Belfast (or Dubai), 'cause a night out in Riyadh is like Fight Club.

Academy kid privelege. Fans have basically coddled Rashford from the time he came into the team almost a decade ago and have overlooked his issues for the past 4+ years in particular as he consistently showed his flaws on and off the pitch.

Any other foreign player does what he's done and fans would have had pitchforks out long ago.

Saudi is career suicide. Even a short term loan severely lowers his chances of moving to a proper league in the future. None of us know what is going on inside his head (as much as some people on here pretend to), but I’d assume a pay cut would be more appealing. Especially that it wouldn’t be a huge pay cut on his reduced wages anyway since we’re not in the CL and probably won’t be next year.

The club might have but I don't think the fans have, there are exceptions obviously, but there are plenty of critical posts of Rashford and his performances/issues going back years

Meh those critical posts were always drowned out every time he scored a goal, the crowd against him was always pretty far in the minority until basically last season.

I mean he went on one hot streak of scoring for 6 weeks and people were saying he's on Mbappe's level with a straight face.

Career suicide is being an awful professional like he currently is.

i don't think his options are great, Barcelona are a bunch of chancers that will put in a last minute crap final offer. With with talk of good talent like Duran going to Saudi at 21, Rashford should not rule out any good offer that is coming to him.
