Marcus Rashford (out)

First, it was Jose, then it was Rangnick. Even Ole has said something about Rashfords focus, and Ole was one of the managers who protected him the most.
You don't have more than 50% of your managers questioning your focus without there being an issue

Its pretty obvious at this point that no-one serious is interested in Rashord. I really hope this is a wake up call for him.

He’s beyond that moment. That should have happened years ago. He’s now at the phase of making the best out of the situation he created. I highly doubt he will reflect honestly on his situation.

What did he say? that if "a" player doesn't put in the effort in training and in their lifestyle then he would rather put the goalkeeping coach in the team than them! so what is the problem with that, he didn't specify he would rather have the GK coach on the bench over Rashford, the reading is clear, Rashford is not putting in the work and/or is doing things in his life that are impacting on his contribution to the team, it is within Rashford's power to change these things
Yeah what Ruben actually said wasn't a problem. It's how it's been reported that is the issue. He was making a general point about the goalkeeping coach but what he actually said about Rashford has been consistent.

Reporters just put the two parts together and skipped the middle bit.

Yeah, its 90% his massive wages. Teams will take a punt on a player with an attitude problem in the same way managers will take a punt on United despite knowing the job is a complete nightmare. To be at the top of any business requires a certain level of arrogance. A lot of them will think that they are special. They can tame Rashford. Get him performing again. And if they can, he will score goals and with the amount of money sloshing around, thats worth a hell of a lot. A manager doesn't care how much a player costs up to a point either. If a player helps him keep his job he will be happy.
Exactly. Plenty of clubs will feel “oh it’s Uniteds fault not rashford we can get the best out of him”. You still get pundits openly stating this on a regular basis. Ian wright being the most recent. I think you also have to see Rashford is a huge name. I have no doubt the Saudis would sign him for the PR. Unfortunately he’s not interested in that just yet.
I recall the club bringing Sancho back into the squad over the summer and even playing him in some pre-season games, with news reports being that ETH had welcomed him back and they’d put aside their differences - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c1rw8qrq81vo.amp

In my view, we pretty clearly did that to make him appear a more attractive prospect to purchase, rather than any genuine intention to play him going forwards. I don’t recall ETH slaughtering him in press conferences all summer when we were trying to sell him to Chelsea.
That happened yes but it doesn’t change the narrative. That doesn’t change the fact that Sancho was not in the squad for a large part of the season with his attitude being questioned by ETH. Don’t forget Sancho also publicly argued back and threw shade at the manager. Dortmund still went ahead and loaned him in and paid a significant portion of his wages. And Chelsea still bought him. Just because the last thing to happen was him being reintegrated doesn’t change what went before.

I truly believe that he doesn't like Rashford the person, as well as Rashford the footballer. It's the little things, in how you treat others, what you do outside the pitch. Rashford has been seen throwing gloves on the ground, instead of handing it over to the club person standing next to him. It's a small thing in the grand scheme of things, but it shows a lot about a person in how he treats those below him.

He constantly parks on the street and picks up the parking tickets with a smile. It just wrecks of "I'm above everyone else" attitude, and laws/rules don't apply to me. It's why he thought that flying to New York for a basketball game with a full ring of security, just days after his coach was sacked was a good idea, and why he thought that he could get away with a drinking bender in Belfast.

I just don't see a way back for Rashford. If he doesn't leave, the closest he will get to United's first team are the training sessions.

Not sure what you're on about, but Rashford played a total of 3057 mins last season, 4304 the season before, minutes on the pitch isn't really as concern but performances are. He's 27, turning 28 this year, and he hasn't performed well for close to two years now. Talking about him as one of our most talented players is a bit far fetched at this stage when he clearly hasn't been able to translate that into actual performances. Maybe he can do an all star team with Sancho and Ravel, Lingard is still a young talent but give it a few years and he might be eligible
It's not that hard to understand. Just read over what I said. It's a fact that over the last decade he's been one of Man Utd's most talented players and it's shown in the goal/assist stats. It's also a fact that he's not performed up to that talent recently. That in no way negates his talent, he's just not using it to his best for reasons that are his own fault and he needs to either change the people around him or get professional mental help.

Either way, because of his talent and good past performances, it will be a news story that he doesn't get selected and he's not injured. As long as it continues, it's a point of interest. And journalists will always stick their nose in when that's the case. It's very simple.

His statement was in reply to a journalist asking if there was a way back for Rashford.

Ridicule? He set the bar for selection at excellence in all aspects of professional conduct. This is something we would applaud Fergie for.

No, probably not, but you never know. I'm pretty sure he'll have been told that he could go to Real, Barca, Bayern, etc if he wanted to. Finding out that the likes of AC Milan and Dortmund are his only options, and even then with a hefty pay cut, may make his reevaluate his options.

No way he wants to go to turkey and no way they cover 50% or more of his salary. move on
Turkey has almost no tax on players' wages afaik. So he'd be a lot cheaper for them(and United)

Is Jason Burt one of the usual Rashford friendly journos?
Yup. Home of bangers like this (Why Manchester United are to blame for Marcus Rashford's slump).

There is a drive and a gentle intensity to Marcus Rashford when he speaks. Behind that, though, there is something else; something more personal. It is a tender rawness in his voice that shows what he has been through and where he has come from.

The accusation by Steve McClaren, the former England manager and United assistant, that Rashford has an “attitude problem” is not only ill-informed but insulting. It would be difficult to find a player who cares as much as Rashford. If anything Rashford cares too much and has, on occasions, taken on too much responsibility and sacrificed himself for United.

The club has to be careful with a player who is so desperate to improve and learn that he has put himself through triple training sessions, spends up to 12 hours a day at the Carrington training ground and quizzes Cristiano Ronaldo on not just what he eats but also on what specifically his muscle mass was at Rashford’s age.

Rashford would appear to be a player who is crying out to be coached. But Van Gaal did not last long as manager; Jose Mourinho seemed to resent the focus on Rashford and the fact he was the poster boy of United’s academy. There had been hope that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as a former striker, would be able to school Rashford on how to improve. Instead, Solskjaer barely took a training session at United and preferred to delegate to his coaching staff. When Rashford did approach him he was not helped. It means that Rashford has never actually been developed; he has never had a manager who has put his arm around him and said, "Right, let’s make you the best possible player we can."

He's a cornball, pay-for-play journalist.

Why does it feel like these kind of articles about Rashford always come out after we win?

In hindsight the fact that Ole said something in public, when Ole generally always protected the players and indeed his whole vibe was being a nice guy and being on good terms with the players, really should have been a huge red flag

Let's hope he finds a club before window closes. We need attacking player(s) in squad but whole relationship is broken and parting ways would be best for everyone.

If any journalists ask Rashford questions, Amorim should just say "Already discussed" or something of that sort and move on.
I am not sure how publicly calling out Rashy's work ethics is gonna help us sell him.

The humiliation I would feel as an employee if my boss said that about me. I hope the lad is taking a look at himself in the mirror.

If you no longer enjoy football Marcus just retire.

Looking at how far and wide the headline that “manager would rather play 63 old goalkeeper than Rashford” has spread in mainstream (non-sports) newspapers, this is Rashford’s do or die moment I feel. He can either respond with his football or forever have his career summarised by this statement. Doesn’t matter if it was sensationally reported or not.

Humiliation? ABU media going at it again. As always.

If Rashford feels hard done by word from manager there is one very easy way to fix that. Find a new club and let them pay. Problem is, he loves that weekly money he gets and no club is going to touch him until he starts being football player.
