Marcus Rashford (out)

At least now he knows where he stands with Amorim.

If he does not go in this window, I don't see how he will get treated any differently and it will be a case of moving him on in the summer... unless he does a 180 and gets his shit together, and we all know that's not happening.

“I think Marcus is lazy, a poor influence around the dressing room, extremely overpaid, supremely overrated, full of self-importance and delusional in the extreme. But those things aside, he’s a good lad and there’s a place for him in my squad.”

I wonder what it is that he’s not doing in training for this to be an issue.

If his performances on the pitch are anything to go by, I'd imagine Rashfords idea of training is probably just the equivalent of somebody ticking boxes on a sheet, without reading the information on what they're actually ticking. He just needs to turn up and do the bare minimum.

Neither are we to be fair; it's very well documented our players take a 25% when we're out of the Champions League. Is it really that outrageous to think a Turkish club could pay what, £225k for 4 months? Osimhen isn't far off that is he?

Osimhen is on 115k a month. Icardi should be the best paid player with about 180k.

Even if a Turkish club will put the money upfront, I don't that Rashy will go, as he is still waiting for that call from Florentino Perez.

It’s probably more than just training. It’s training, performance on the pitch, lifestyle, etc. The club wanting to offload his wages that have very little ROI at this point is probably part of the reason too.

He’s had great moments at United but it feels like it’s been a while now since he’s been the kind of player who would press diligently, sprint like a madman to be in the right position, track back as he should, and makes runs that take defenders away to create space for others.

We’ve seen Messi, Neymar, and Ronaldo in recent years all play the way he does to conserve energy and be high up the pitch. The difference was that these players were insanely productive and that justified the rest of the team having to essentially cover for them. Rashford hasn’t been consistently productive to justify how he plays.

I much prefer this to his previous comments. Feels more balanced and puts the ball firmly in Rashford’s court. Have to say I’ve never been more interested in seeing a training session though - reckon if they made the next one PPV it would generate enough to fund a new striker!
Well they did say they would listen to ideas for how to raise money.

He's not been found guilty of being a "decent lad" either. Weird how you're perfectly capable of thinking for yourself at one point, and then have to surrender your faculties to the justice system the ne.
Wth are you talking about?

Wonder what wage Osimhen would want here?

Story of our club these days, being stuck with players on long contracts with enormous wages that we can't get rid of because they're shite and no one wants them.

The old upper management team did a great job at sabotaging our club.

Sadly yes.

When Rashford thinks himself that he is world class and very few clubs are intrested in him, it looks nearly impossible to get rid of him..
He needs us to believe that he believes in his own world class pedigree. Thats his whole shtick.

If that happens, Rashford would pull his hamstring muscles trying to run hard after years of non-use.

They really did, in 2 years managed to set us back for years with Rashford's new deal, Casemiro, Antony, Mount.

Players who for various reasons are not even close to playing for us are collecting upwards of 50M/year, with 200M+ spent on fees

The players are tracked and the data is analysed both in training and games. If Amorim says he's not putting the effort in, he's got the data to back that up.

Rashford's PR machine has nothing.

Weird, fans have been saying for ages

arent Real 2nd in the league? Is that good enough for Rashford?

this is all getting desperate

just hoping we're not stuck with him until the end of the season

It would be a bit of a sickener if Rashford manages to belly flop his way to Barca. I'll be glad he's gone, but I want him being forced to go somewhere a little less glamorous.

It's sad that I have more interest in seeing Antony succeed than Rashford.

Idk imagine Rashford putting in some of those lazy performances at United at Barcelona with their fans and Hansi Flick. He’ll be torn to shreds.

He's got away with a lot down the years at Utd due to being a local lad and how shite we've generally been for most of his time here.

He's not going to get away with similar when he leaves, he'll no longer be the local lad. If he does go Barcelona no way do their fans put up with watching Rashford walk round the pitch looking miserable week after week.

My gut says there are teams that want to take him on loan and they’re waiting until the end of the window when United would rather get even £50k a week off the pay roll and Rashford away from Carrington than the alternative.

I highly doubt Rashford himself thinks he's world class. He's out of the United team and hasn't played for England in years.

The Barcelona thing is simply a player trying to get the best move for himself. Nothing wrong with that. Barca themselves have confirmed there's interest in him. I don't think it will happen purely because Barca can't make room salary wise for him. Rashford knows this which is why he's offering to take a pay cut. But realistically Barca needs players going out to get him.

100%. Rashford's been left with a hard smack in the face of reality. Announced his challenges are elsewhere thinking clubs would be falling over themselves to sign him, yet no one was interested - or at least not at anywhere near what he wants to be paid.

Likely Rashford checked out expecting to leave, which pissed Amorim off and explains his exile from the team.

Depends on why he's miserable. I think playing in a dysfunctional team for so long has contributed to that massively. I also think him being sad contributes to his training performance, or lack of.

I want him to enjoy playing football again. It will give him a massive energy boost.

I do not excuse Rashford but I do agree with this, I specifically think he took a nose dive when after his 30 goal season ETH moved him to the right and was starting Hojlund and Martial in front of him in the striker role, and Garnacho on the left, I mean I think he felt slighted by that.

I also think that Rashford has been affected by the likes of Lingard, Sancho and Pogba who were more interested in the lifestyle than the graft, seems like Rashford is the last man standing from that cohort and is sticking out like a sore thumb, I do not think that he has the best support and advisors around him, and he is too gullible, full of his own importance or just ignorant of his actions.

Just wish he had received stronger management before now, SAF would have either sorted him out or kicked him out, good to see that Amorim is similar, just a shame Amorim does not have the luxury that SAF earned of basically refusing to talk to the press or putting them in their place when they asked stupid questions

Never underestimate the power of delusions. Up to a point, when someone pays you a salary that suggests you are world class, treats you differently to the other players for years and rewards your behaviour then it just reinforces your behaviour and views. There is a reason wealthy people are completely disconnected from the rest of us.

So has Bruno but he puts in a shift every single week.

Rashford is entitled to feel depressed or demotivated, it's been a dire state of affairs for a long time - but when you put pen to paper on a £300k+ a week contract then you are accepting that there will be high expectations and you need to work your arse off every week to justify getting paid so much.

If he can't stand the pressure or doesn't feel motivated enough to earn his wage then don't accept the contract and find a job that makes you happier, don't just take the money and expect to half arse it every week.

Did that actually happen? I'm fairly certain it was Garnacho who got shunted out to the right to keep Rashford in his favoured position.

Rashford himself has said he prefers playing outside left so I doubt he cared that Hojlund and Martial were in the CF position 'ahead' of him.

I've read it and I'll say it again, Ajax cannot afford Fati wages, he's on >€250k a week.
Damn that's a lot.

What ever happened to Fati anyway, he was meant to be the next big thing at one point.
