Marcus Rashford (Out) | Rashford: “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

It's the right thing to move him on now as things have gone a bit south but I'll remember him as a lad that stuck his neck out to help his community and a player whose pace could absolutely terrify defences (particularly City's).

I'll always remember the younger Rashford fondly. The one that was absolutely rapid.

Even when he had that golden patch in ETH's first season, I still didn't think he was as entertaining to watch as he was in his younger years, even though he was more productive

Maybe Chelsea could be tempted, they have got a better tune out of Sancho than we ever did, and maybe think they could do the same with Rashford.

I'm sure there's a player that they want rid of that could be useful for us to help the deal happen aswell.

It doesn't really say much honestly, at least not anything that we couldn't already deduce.

I guess, but nice to get our thoughts confirmed.

I never used twitter, so couldn't find out how to read the article on there, so posted the one from Reddit where it was easy to find for others like me.

Edit: It also explained the Garnacho situation, and that it wasn't as bad as Rashford's.

It's really sad what's happened. The club have massively failed him imo - had he played under Sir Alex he would have been phenomenal. I guess mentality comes from within, but he's been surrounded by greed and mediocrity, it's no wonder he's become what he has.

I don’t want to see him sold to someone in England unless it’s for a monster fee. Flog him abroad for cheap.
Let’s hope for the benefit of the club the Saudi clubs are interested in him.

Just get him out. This he needs a change of scenery to be reenergized is fecking pathetic. It’s ironic that he lifted all those kids up during Covid and now he is sending the wrong message that once you’re earned top dollar you can give up and not care. He is letting all those kids down now.

I wonder just how much of a cancer this guy has ended up being in the dressing room... You have a star player who generally doesn't look arsed in training and has a poor attitude, how does that not rub off on anyone else? And I get that he is probably being scapegoated somewhat, but it's time to see what the club looks like without him, and move on.

Yeahhhh never Rashford's fault, is it?

I’ve never seen a player have as many excuses made for him is rashford.

Yeah it seems his time is up. He's never delivered on his promise, half his own fault, half the way he's been managed. If he hasn't even got it in him to prove to the new manager he deserves to start then he's got no place here any more, send him to Saudi and let him half arse his career over there if he's at that point.

Does he have no agency of his own?

Of course he does. I'm just saying its really sad what he's become. Despised by the fanbase. Had he been ten years older he'd have been an all time great. I just feel the environment he's come up in has done him no favours. If you disagree, fair enough.

At any rate, it's time for him to move on. Just saddened by what could've been.

Yours is not a popular opinion on here but I think you're right. United have been a graveyard for talents in the last 11 years and Rashford is one of those players who could've achieved way more than he has so far, both in terms of individual level and team achievements.

I’m sorry but how the feck did this club massively fail him?

Some agents of Rashford propaganda believe he isn’t a problem for us.

That was cringe viewing, must be said.
The guy saying Antony hasn't had equal amounts of scrutiny over his price tag and performances must be living on the fecking moon.

What I hear from friends of friends and such, fame did get to his head. Yes he did all the charity stuff honestly but the fame that generated for him was insane and he’s stopped working for the shirt. He’s surrounded himself with shit people. He’s become very arrogant.

Newcastle need to sell right? Could we not tempt them with a Rashford + cash deal for Isak? Its a hell of a longshot but I feel he'd be immense for us. Certainly cheaper (and less risky) than going for someone like Gyokeres.

You can tell he's become arrogant. I'm all for footballers wearing whatever they want but you can just tell by his demeanour on the pitch, especially when you compare it to the young kid who rinsed Demichelis at the Etihad.

It's a shame because he would've been a massive asset for us if he'd kept the hardworking mindset but he chose differently.

I think the reality here is that he got a bit lucky in breaking into the first team in the way he did, had a big impact - credit to him for all those debut goals: all of us wanted to believe we had a huge talent on our hands - probably got a bit unlucky with the permacrisis of managerial churn and chaos surrounding the club, but also got over-hyped. That then got a whole lot more ridiculous from the PR state that developed around him...it also sounds like he's still pretty immature, has surrounded himself with the wrong sort of people and has had too much, too young, in getting vast amounts of money.

He was never going to be world class and has been a problem for some time now - he'll hopefully move in the summer but you wonder whether he'll play for too much longer after that.

What did him and Garnacho do apart from the not putting in 100 percent. Has it come our yet

Is it any wonder footballers lack accountability for their actions when they have people making excuses for them?

The buck stops with him. He's failed himself

No one is bigger than the club...

SAF knew when this had happened and it was time to move someone on and they were generally still playing well.

Time for him to go

I'd have a lot of respect for him if he said he had lost any enjoyment he had for football and was choosing to retire to focus on the charity work he did over lockdown.

He looks so sullen on the pitch and his work rate is appalling, wonder what he's like around the club in general. You can see signs of it transferring to Garnacho, the entitled attitude and poor work rate. Not helped by ETH picking Rashy constantly despite his more often than not, woeful efforts

Grown men arguing on behalf of our highest paid player that why are fingers not being pointed elsewhere. No shame all around.
