Marcus Rashford (Out) | Rashford: “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

Inter Miami as well, if we put him up for sale for a low fee, as you say, what a coup the MLS can market him as. Also he loves the US, footballers don't get so much abuse there and he can play with Messi.

It would seem ridiculous but selling Rashford for £20m if you fully clear his obscene wage frees up the ability to spend considerably.

I could see Becks taking him in. And I could see Rashy thriving there. Might be best for all parties

Like I said in the other thread. Just give him to Chelsea for a quid and try and get Palmer for slightly cheaper than expected. Or something along those lines for somebody worth it.

Nah let’s offer him to Madrid for Mbappe instead

Don't disagree with this. However, it depends on the contract ie what constitutes a breach. Should be testing the players more frequently for alcohol and fitness levels etc to see if any breach on their part. Otherwise do a Chelsea on him and make it clear he ain't going to train let alone play with 1st team rather have him train with youth team and see if he is happy sitting out his ‘peak’ years.

How many players, of any club, have had their contracts cancelled in that way though? It’s virtually never been done outside of a serious crime being committed. You definitely couldn’t do it for alcohol intake.

Salary is a big obstacle but nowhere near to Maguire

a- we are supposed to have the best in class in negotiating deals now.
b- Maguire has zero marketability. Rashford has been the face of Manchester United for years. Some of that will move with him.
c- Maguire is horribly rated outside the UK. I remember watching the EURO final on the Italian media and commentators kept banging on the need for Italy to target the 'weak link' and 'the guy with little positioning and no pace'
d- Maguire was fresh from a banter season were he seem to make a mistake in every game he played. Rashford isn't doing well but he still has a respectable amount of goals and assists

Despite all of that we still managed to find buyers for him. It was us that refused to pay some of his salaries to get rid of him.
his appeal was mainly from being a local boy making it at Manchester United.

Remove him from the club and nobody will give a shit about him.

There will always be another club that will overpay for him.
Very few clubs have that kind of money to invest in a player who truthfully is a bit of a gamble. I don't see any English clubs being in for him as he doesn't fit the profile that Maresca, Arteta or Pep are looking for !!
Would he go to Saudi ?

I think plenty have 40m handy, it's those insane wages.
But we'd probably have to put 10m or so of those wages into brokering the difference.

Is he still a 40m player ? I'm not so sure if offsetting 10m a season makes him viable.

If he's on 325K then after this season he's due another 50m from the club. I think the will of the player is the biggest stumbling block here. I don't see the elite clubs coming in for him. But clubs like a Bournemouth or Villa could rejuvenate him and get some performances out of him. Would he go to those clubs? And realistically how much would they pay him max, 150K? I think that even that would be a stretch, but for the sake of argument, let's say that's the maximum. And he won't cut his own future earnings, so United would have to subsidise his wage for the next three years, at a cost of 27m or so. Selling him for 40m. Making a profit of 13m. I'd do that deal, but it would mainly benefit the club by getting rid of his negative influence (a passenger on the pitch, and his PR team off it, and a massively overpaid player in the dressing room) and it would give us great leeway with regards to PSR.

I don't know how creative you can get to find a deal acceptable to him and another club. If he's interested in Saudi, everybody wins, but if not, it's incredibly complex.

I don’t mind this. Sentimentality will get us nowhere. All players who lack the drive needed must go. Rashford is a wonderful person, but unless he sheds the victim mentality when the ball doesn’t come his way, he is worth selling.

Can his pr team actually be productive and bring a transfer proposal of at least 35 millions?

Is there likely to be much interest in him though?

He's in dire form and on massive wages.

The wages will be a massive headache. He's on 300k/wk so we would need to eat a lot of that by way of a massively reduced transfer fee just to get him off the books.

The same we did with Sancho. Fine by me. The sooner he is out the better. Anything we get is pure profit so helps with FFP.

I'd love to know why he's still part of the match day squad never mind the first team. He offers practically nothing yet will still get significant playing time. Don't be surprised if he starts against City.
Prescient!

How many "cultural reboots" is that now? Getting real tired of that term.
The idea is right, just the execution has always fallen short. Maybe this time...
The cultural reboot we always needed first was getting rid of Woodward and other Glazer appointments, so under the presumably better structure we have now, this cultural reboot will be a first of its kind and hopefully better.

He doesn't really suit Amorims system and he isn't young enough to start learning new tricks...so the exit door is the best solution for everyone.

But I can't see many options for him, so United might be stuck with a very expensive squad player a few more years.

Who would buy him? He's got the club by the balls with the contract he's on.

I'm being soft but I do feel bad for him there. That tweet and article is savage. Imagine reading that you're basically being sold because you're the poster boy for all that is wrong in your organisation.

We wont be able to get rid of him. Id say we are stuck with him for another while yet.

No one is going to pay him anything near what he's on now. And theres wont be much interest based on his performances this last 2 years

If he's not careful he could go down the Jesse Lingard route

It's the right thing to move him on now as things have gone a bit south but I'll remember him as a lad that stuck his neck out to help his community and a player whose pace could absolutely terrify defences (particularly City's).

The Rashford pr machine will be turned up to 11 after this!
Unfortunately for them they lost a bit of oil after the surprising result in the derby. BTW I just remembered some of the tweets from the summer: He's getting insanely fit they said...

Music to my ears

It will be a pain, but I think getting him out of the team is more important in terms of making it clear that underperformance and lack of effort will not be tolerated, as well as not having to try to find a way to work him in, and both of those are more important than any fee we get for him.

just imagine the 'rashford performances thread' after he leaves. the pining weve seen for sancho, fred, greenwood, mctominay and others - rashford is the ultimate youtube player, it will be insufferable.

If he makes a go of it elsewhere then good luck to him I hope he revives himself as it seems impossible here.

We kind of broke him by playing him injured or at least contributed to it so there's no ill will from my view.

I dont ever really have ill will, if he does well elsewhere good luck to him, same for most of our players. I really dont enjoy people forgetting how crap players were for us if they perform any way decent elsewhere. If a player does ok elsewhere, it doesnt mean they would have here and rashford is far beyond the point of cutting losses.

Other than PSG i'm trying to think who would be interested except for Saudi or MLS leagues, which feels a bit too soon for his age.

I've seen some people say Arsenal wouldn't be interested but if they played him as a 9 it might be a more direct option for them in games. Maybe Arteta would think he could fix him? I'd have zero problems of him going anywhere else in the league besides Liverpool or City. Spurs or Newcastle probably wouldn't have the funds.
