Marcus Rashford (Out) | Rashford: “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

PSG are the only side I can think of who would sign him and offer comparable wages. Without him getting offered at least the same, I think he would stop here for the next 3/4 years stinking the place up.

In terms of his relationship with the fans, I feel like it's never really recovered from that season under Ole/Ralf where he had a bust up with a few fans and there were lots of people giving up on him when he got just 5 goals. He then had that 30 goal season and fans were back on his side (still gave him a bit of stick in the cup final that year) but then there's been nothing much since other than off the field antics, disciplinary issues etc. The relationship just feels broken at this point. For his career it might be good for him to have a new challenge and a fresh start, and for the club to focus on the future.
last season felt the worst, the stadium wanting him off the pitch, telling fans to shush. He has clearly been rattled by the backlash after being hoisted up as the pinup boy of the club feeling above criticsm. He just isnt the personality to come through that adversity. Or good enough to be coached outside his comfort zone

The only way to get rid of him is mutual termination of his contract so he is free to leave to another club like Pogba. So so tragic from my namesake.

Like I said in the other thread. Just give him to Chelsea for a quid and try and get Palmer for slightly cheaper than expected. Or something along those lines for somebody worth it.

How stupid do you think Chelsea are?!

Why would Chelsea even consider giving up Palmer for Rashford.

Rashford is going down the Delli Ali route and everyone knows it. The guy just isn't interested in football anymore and lacks professionalism.

When/if he does eventually go, how long before the PR pieces come out about how tough it's been for him and we've all got to pretend he didn't get paid 300k a week and couldn't even pretend to look like he cared for the fans or club?

In a way I am sort of torn in that he rightly received plaudits for his campaign about school meals but rather than grow his football career all that’s grown is his ego.
Genuinely can’t see any of the big English clubs going for him

No team at their level is going to be interested.

We're stuck with him, unless he really wants out. Should have sold'em the moment he was hot.

Selling unwanted players for a decent price is difficult but possible. De ligt was sold first to Bayern and then united for decent fees, City sold Alvarez for 75m, Toney went for 50m while Chelsea bought Felix for 53m. None of them had ever hit the heights of Rashford who, quite frankly, is having a meah season with 7 goals and 3 assists in 25 matches

United were always sup par in that area as witnessed during the Beckham, RVN and Ince sale. So this pessimism is understandable. But as said before clubs hire best in class negotiators for this reason. If they can't produce these sort of deals then we might as well have stuck with Arnold, judge and murtough

Regarding salary that's clearly an obstacle. However creative solutions does exist. Would Rashford accept a lower salary which is heavily boosted by performance bonuses? If he believes in his talent then he would especially since a return in form Rashy whose playing in the CL/England on a regular basis will rack loads of sponsors which would dwarf the salary he gets at an underperforming united

Alvarez was still wanted at City but he wanted to leave
Likewise I’m sure that Brentford would have preferred to keep Toney

Funny that people keep mentioning Palmer, why on earth would any player leave Chelsea to come to us right now?

As for Rashford, he's a disgrace. The lack of effort and fight is unforgivable. Hope the rumors about us wanting to get rid are true.

I would have sold him years ago. If we can still get value then we should absolutely sell now

Sell him to Saudi for 20 mill. That also reduces the wage bill by 18 mill a year.
Inter Miami as well, if we put him up for sale for a low fee, as you say, what a coup the MLS can market him as. Also he loves the US, footballers don't get so much abuse there and he can play with Messi.

It would seem ridiculous but selling Rashford for £20m if you fully clear his obscene wage frees up the ability to spend considerably.

The fact that the story is that Utd are willing to listen to offers says it all - if he was actually in demand then there would already be links / noise around clubs interested as he hasn’t been playing regularly.

There’s just no market for him, other clubs have watched his performances and seen the same things we all have. At a push I could see a max 20m loan / buy obligation in the Sancho vein, but his wages make even that doubtful.

I don’t think any Premier League club will take him, not just for the wages but for the output as well. It feels like the only people who are backing him are certain media journos no doubt connected to his camp , who still swear it’s just a blip in form. Everyone else knows the reality it seems.

And I’m not sure other clubs from top tier European clubs will be chiming in too.

Like some people on the forum have speculated and myself too, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s retired by 30, unless he goes to the States, Middle East or Asia where he can coast by, be treated like a superstar and prolong it a bit more than he would have if he stayed in Europe.

I’d happily take £20m for him.

Getting Rashford for free and a decent amount for Palmer. Stranger things have happened.
No. Stranger things have definitely not happened. This would be gross negligence on Chelsea's part.

The American's love a trade, I will take Redondo and £10 mil off of them for Rashford.

I am pretty sure that the official line at united will be the same and that's how it should be.

For the record I can't see us getting 75m out of Rashford. But let's not pretend that he's got no Value either. He's still relatively young, he's been the face of man united for years (that brings loads of sponsors) and 7 goals and 3 assists in 25 matches ain't bad for a team that's struggling

This makes sense but the one thing we would have on Palmer is that he was a boyhood united fan. Weather it would still hold weight is hard to tell.

Either way we won’t get him and it’s a real shame as he with Saka are the best players in the prem for me.

I've never given a player a 1 rating, but I think it's the worst performance I've ever seen. Playing with zero interest, it looks like he's being punished out there. The sooner he leaves, the better. Any takers in January?

He’s lost all motivation in the United environment, which is sad because he’s had multiple new coaches that would keep most players on their toes.

I personally think that he’s not that interested in premier league football. He might scrape a few more career years out by moving country but I still hold the belief that he will retire young and concentrate on his own interests then

I think if we were a regular top 4 club then then there might be a chance, at this current moment in time no player who is a regular at Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or City is going to come to Utd........ Things can change quickly though so fingers crossed the other clubs implode and we remember how to be a top a top club again.

The biggest obstacle to moving him will be his wages - just as it was for Maguire.

Salary is a big obstacle but nowhere near to Maguire

a- we are supposed to have the best in class in negotiating deals now.
b- Maguire has zero marketability. Rashford has been the face of Manchester United for years. Some of that will move with him.
c- Maguire is horribly rated outside the UK. I remember watching the EURO final on the Italian media and commentators kept banging on the need for Italy to target the 'weak link' and 'the guy with little positioning and no pace'
d- Maguire was fresh from a banter season were he seem to make a mistake in every game he played. Rashford isn't doing well but he still has a respectable amount of goals and assists

Despite all of that we still managed to find buyers for him. It was us that refused to pay some of his salaries to get rid of him.
