A few comments from the Villa forums:

“He had their full back on toast everytime he got it.”

“He ripped them apart 90% of the times he ran at them”

“Unfortunately he's a bit too good for some of our other players.”

“so quick, unlike a few of our snails.”

“The levels he brings are immense.”

“ He looks on a different level to a lot of our other players. Needs to be starting games.”

Seems like he’s off to a good start in impressing them and persuading them £40m is worth it.

Getting 40m£ in the summer would be an absolute insane deal for us. Hopefully he continues like this.

Was actually a very typical Rashford performance. In terms of the negatives his movement is awful, he seemed to turn the ball over with poor passing or running down dead ends. The positives were that his shot lead to the goal, and he had another very dangerous dribble that almost setup a second.

He flashes, and it's eye catching. His actual play wasn't great though and you can see he's certainly not a level above Villa.

I'd love to know the last time he contested ten ground duels in one half of football while wearing a United shirt.

Absolute wanker. Get him in the bin with Sancho.

Same. My money’s on never.

I was prepared to forgive his lack of effort for us on the basis of him being diminished by injuries and having to play within himself for some reason. The worst possible outcome for him as a person is if it turns out that he actually is capable of working harder than he was - but for some reason chose not to.

Yes please. This is the right attitude to have. And then, ideally, start dogging it against next year. No issues with Villa per se, but they can do one.
He's going to "dog it" eventually. Even without anybody wishing for it. That is just his level. Hopefully that will be after Villa exercise the option and complete the permanent deal.

Needs a few highlight goals before the season ends to seal the deal.

Keep going Rashy!

Pleased he’s playing well for Villa. Getting £40m for him this summer would be amazing. Given he can’t be arsed to break a sweat for us, given his effort so far for Villa just show he literally doesn’t give a feck about United or us fans. feck off to Brum and become shit again please.

For someone who has been slacking in training and out of the team for two months, he sure looks sharp.

his last start it was. Either way, he wasnt exactly playing poorly.
You don't think Rashford had been pretty consistently poor for us over the past 2 seasons? 2 goals in a game (a game in which Zirkzee also grabbed a brace) hardly changes that.

That would be the best outcome for sure. Fingers crossed, he puts a few into the back of the net and above all else, does enough the seal the deal. United are way better off without him and his lazy, moody attitude.

Why do people think he wants to go to Villa? He basically said he didn't in his joining interview for the loan.

Exactly this! He has had a kick up the arse and is starting to do the bare minimum a footballer needs to do.

Please score more goals. We can use the money for players who can maintain consistency.

The amount we could use that sort of Rashford right now can't be overstated.

However we would never have had access to that Rashford... it's Catch 22 shit.

someone completely missed the point
I doubt the poster you responded to will ever get it, as all I see is blind defense of Rashford, along with a few posters on the last page who have all dived back in together

I am happy that Rashford is performing well for Villa. However, we need to find a club to take this virus away from the first team squad. We can't afford to have a senior player and one of the highest-paid players in the squad just strolling around on and off the pitch

My prediction is:

Villa want him in the summer but he turns them down for his dream move to Barca.

Barca spend the entire summer working out how they are going to afford him.

Villa give up on him and instead bring Grealish back for £60m.

With time all but ran out we reluctantly agree for a year long loan to Barca with then covering most of his wages.

After a bright start he struggles to hold down a starting position at Barca and they pass on signing him the following summer.

I can see every step of this prediction being played out in reality. I just hope that you are wrong, United need to sell him, asap.

He's already working on the first step, according to BBC gossip page and The Sun

Manchester United's 27-year-old England striker Marcus Rashford, who is on loan at Aston Villa, has not given up hope of joining Barcelona this summer. (Sun)

Not very loyal to the place that has given him the chance to rescue his career, if that's true.

He won't make it at Barca, they'll loan him out after 6 months.

Jesus Christ

Villa are not spending £60 million on Grealish. They'd be after the same deal as Rashford

Aye, I can see this happening unfortunately. Best we could hope for is a FDJ swap (£60m either way for some PSR leeway perhaps), assuming Barca pay up FDj’s deferred wages and he finally doesn’t mind moving on from Barca - all while he’s fully recovered from his big injury last year of course (can’t claim to have watched him/Barca much, so don’t know his level). I think FDJ would be a fantastic partner for Ugarte.

Anyhow, that’s a pipe dream. Way too many if’s in that scenario, but I can’t see Barca raising the cash outright to buy Rashford.

He’s not even loyal to the club that developed with, why the feck would he have any loyalty to a club he’s at for less than a month?

Surprised to see people getting excited about Rashford not scoring. Saw that often enough in United shirts.

I dont expect loyalty. Loyalty is choosing your club amidst bigger offer by a better club.

But at least have the decency to maintain profesionalism while under contract
We’ve seen how professional Rashford is. I don’t know why people are surprised he thinks he’s too good for Villa.

Yeah he was alright nothing more, had a few decent moments which he's always been capable of doing. That tweet is just clickbait but every half decent performance is going to get overrated as a dig at us.
It was basically a typical Garnacho performance but with a bit more talent.
it's clear, he motivated, hopefully that'll help him land a move and us the money.

You've forgotten what young Rashford was like. Under LVG, Mourinho and early Ole, he was very hard working. It's clear that physically capable of working harder for a few games. Hopefully he can do it for 6 months and get us paid.

We sound salty in this forum. Let’s face it, our club has a virus that destroys all talent. There’s a reason why Antony, Rashford and maybe Sancho all look better since leaving us.

Just waiting for ETH to look good again. I have no doubt he will.

I'd say let's see some 90 mins from him before deciding where his fitness is at.
My observation was on his mental sharpness and how he looked up for the game. Saying that, Emery did suggest that he will take a while before they can play the full 90 minutes.

I'm sure you'd smoke him at right full alright!

Me? If the measure for his ability is a random fan from the internet, then no wonder we tolerated his abysmal muck for 2 years. In this unmitigated disaster of a season, the only positive I can cling to is that this abomination is out of the club at last.
